after some reasearch i found that this is acually a very soft sandpaper cleaning tile and stainless steel. you're pretty muc removng a thin layer of the plastic. im not saying i dont use it but if you keep using it, you will damage the plastic

The Magic Eraser is too harsh to use on the trackpad itself, but you can use it on the click button because it is made from the same material as the hand rest. There is something special about the track pad itself, because it is touch sensitive, that it can be damaged through the use of the eraser. Make sure to be careful and gentle when using this method- the Magic Eraser might feel like a piece of soft foam but it is a powerful cleaning agent. Good Luck!

Hi there. I used the Magic Eraser on my trackpad, and it still works. Then again, I didn't apply any pressure while doing so.
