Charisteas is terrible as a winger, very good as a supporting striker, decent as a finalizing striker, good in a 4-3-3 play, and decent in a 4-4-2 play. I know this because I watched Charisteas carefully.
Good: Great header and position-wise.
Bad: Needs space to play, and he's quite "shy" on the pitch.
2) I know you never described the ugly toad as "hot". I was questioning the bizarre choice of words by the video's creator
3) Personally, I don't find many greek men hot, most are ugly and/or hairy except maybe sakis rouvas - who is hot! and porbably a few others but thats it.
Why did I watch the video? I just came across it, simple as that you retard. not out of choice. he's so fuckin ugly and shite as well, changes his teams eveyr year and couldnt keep nurnberg in the bundesliga. haha. he should play for arbroath, that's more his standard!
Angelos Charisteas is ugly? Are you retarded or what?
And did you say he's SHIT?! You are a complete fucking useless shithead. Maybe you aren't aware that he scored 3 goals in Euro 2004, one in the final against Portugal that won Greece the championship, AND he won the golden boot award of the tournament. You are a fucking loser.
Yes he is ugly. So are most Greek men. Yes he scored three goals in that BORING DULL UNDESERVED FLUKE Euro champ win. And no, he didn't win the Golden Boot it was (the slightly better looking) Milan Baros who took that honour.
I see you be from North America, well you lot from that part of the world are mere newcomers to the game of soccer, who know little about the game so think before writing crap.
Thank God a team that plays decent football won euro2008 - ditto world cup 06
Wow, you must be a hardcore British fag who only likes fellow British fags. Ask any women if they find Greek men in general hot, and you will be enlightened. I can understand your jealousy and ignorance, though. You are jealous of Greece, so you say stupid things, like also how Euro 2004 was a fluke, when we beat Portugal TWICE, France (defending champs), and Czech. Greece was praised for having the best defense in years.
"Greece was praised for having the best defense in years."
Wow. Same also goes for Italy in '06 and Spain in '08 but at least they had more attacking style (in comparison) and their defences were also praised. OK, you are Greek-Canadian and perhaps know more about soccer than the average North American, but I bet you are only a recent follower of the sport, I doubt you followed much footie more than seven years ago.
Spain did not have one clean sheet in Euro 2008 until the final, so I wouldn't exactly say they had terrific defending. Let's not talk about Italy because World Cup 2006 was fixed.
Whether I am a recent follower of football or soccer (whichever you prefer), it's not exactly relevant is it? What is your point? So let's say I am 7 years old... I can't read up on previous sporting events before my time?
And don't talk of North America, because I am Greek and know plenty of football. The pure Canadians and Americans don't know anything, but the ethnics do. And please don't go talking about the fake champions of Italy in 2006. The whole world knows it was fixed. Yes, Spain played very good and deserved Euro 2008, their first in over 40 years. No matter how you play or how big the score is, a win is a win.
By the way, Charisteas got laid SO many more times than you, so you shouldn't talk.
Bwahahahaha, oh yeah I loove ur style mate. Ugly charisteas got laid more times than me, so what? can you tell me why anyone would find him good looking? most greek men (not all, mind you) are hairy or ugly from my experience. And before you make some stupid jibes about how England couldn't do any better I couldn't care less coz england are boring too and suck and i barely ever support them. the boring greeks are the only european team i dislike more. Now go smoke up like that bitch Mercouri
"fake champions of Italy in 2006?" oh, perche? They had a penalty awarded AGAINST them in the final - cannot claim they were fixed. And sure the Italians have played dull stuff in the past but even they have shown more attacking verve than the borefest champs of 2004. Aw, so I be jealous of a boring successful team? You tell us a win is a win no matter how you play, but I don't think any non-greek would say something like that to do stick up for team that win defensively
Yes, and it was a blatant one too. Just like how they had a red card against the U.S., but like that game, the ref has to make up. They also had a penalty FOR them against Australia in the 90+4th minute of stoppage time.
Let me ask you a question. If the team you cheer for wins a championship by winning defensively, you won't support them anymore because they play defensively? Are you stupid or what? Boring or not, the goal is to score more goals than your opponent by the final whistle.
Oh. MY. God. The ref has to make it up by giving the occasional decision against the italians so not to arouse suspicion? HAHAHA lol joke of the week!
I may be bashing the greek team but never stooping low to suggest they benefitted from dodgy refereeing. If this were South Korea then maybe.
As for not supporting boring teams, I have mentioned earlier my reluctance to support England.... but who knows, beating Croatia 4-1 is definately not dull, maybe a turning point?
And I don't know what you meant by what you said, but there are MANY proud Greeks in NA. Anyway...
You're even a hypocrite now. You deny Italy, yet say South Korea... And yes, makeup calls happen in sports, especially with Italy in football.
Seriously, what is wrong with you? You are English, and don't even support England because they're not "exciting" enough for you? WTF? Yet NOW you might consider it because they beat Croatia 4-1! Psychiatry...
So I said that I had been reluctant to support England on the basis of being boring despite being my homeland. Even if partly true, I am amazed at how uber-serious you take such comments and your severe lack of an SOH.
And I know you were, and I'm glad I kept you waiting ;-). Haha, nah, the truth is I had things to do, but I'm still glad I irritated you. :-P Dickweed.
My main gripe is with Greek people ALWAYS FUCKING SMOKING. Always. Every sodding Greek person is smoke smoke smoke blow it in your face and ignore you with no consideration for others. As though they think it is cool or trendy or sophisticated. Well, major newsflash for you - IT AIN'T. It just makes ya look like an arrogant bitch and lung cancer is karma.
I still admire and respect Greek history, mind you. But then again, we Jews also have a lot to show off and be proud of.....
Have you ever been to Greece? Have you personnally seen nearly every Greek person you pass smoke? Maybe in England where you're from, you went to a bar a few times when Greece was playing football, and the Greek men happened to be smoking. Maybe because it's a bar? Characterizing a nationality by how much you think it smokes is stupid and childish.
Yes, Jews do, that's true. They have the highest doctor and lawyer rate in the world, and it is the most plesant country in the Middle-East.
I was merely trying to make a point. Greece or Greek men have never been known for smoking excessively. There are things that are accociated with certain nationalities, ex. Ireland and drinking, but I've never heard of smoking with Greeks. I am Greek, I am surrounded by Greek people many days of my life, and few of them smoke. Smoking is to the person, not the nationality.
Wow, you have Greek friends? The way you speak, it's like you hate Greeks.
I beg to differ, 95% of all greek men and women puff up like it is some fuckin religion.
Maybe you haven't seen that many puffers because maybe Americanised greeks (or rather, north americans of greek origin) are less notorious than those in greece or anywhere in europe?
95%... Wow. Where is your source? It must be a fact to state it so accurately... Idiot, even to be as shameful as to say it's like a religion. You're pathetic.
Maybe in Europe, the Greeks do smoke more than here. What I do know is that EUOPEANS, not GREEKS, smoke more than North Americans. Hell, pot is legal in Amsterdam, to give you an idea. So it's not necessarily Greeks, but Europeans as a whole that smoke more.
I forgot to notice you tried to argue that Spain did not keep a clean sheet in Euro 2008 until the final? Um, they also 0-0 in the qf against italy and 3-0 in the semi-final against russia. were you watching the same event? so their defence was just as good if not tighter than greece's. and spain conceding in the 4-1 against russia, well it was at the end of the game when they had it sewn up so they could lax off towards the end.
Yeah, that's right. I forgot about the Italy game, because it went into shootout. But is that really considered a clean sheet? Anyway, the Russia game I forgot about because I remembered 4-1, but I forgot the semi-final game.
In Euro 2004, when we beat Portugal in the opening game, it was 2-0 until stoppage time, so Greece also laid back. Anyway, I'm not denying that Spain had a good year. They wanted it, and they played like never before. But you can't knock Greece when we got 3 shutouts.
TBH, i do not like seeing dull temas do well. I was pretty glad england lost to w.germany in the 1990 semifinal, as the germans had scored lots of goals en route to the semi but england scraped most of their games especially in that boring roup.
And I remember reading somewhere that greece had the highest rate of lung cancer deaths in the EU (the survey included new member states from the east as well). It was hard not to laugh, I must say.......
Well you are not a real Brit. Do you hate your country? I'd like to know how you feel about getting the Olympics.
SO WHAT if a team scores on average 20 more goals a game than its opponent. What matters is the game ahead. Greece doesn't often score too many goals, hence the three 1-0 wins in Euro 2004. But, 10-0 or 1-0, a win is a win and a championship is a championship.
"And I remember reading somewhere that greece had the highest rate of lung cancer deaths in the EU"
Crapisteas, what has he acheived since Eurofluke 2004? journeyman striker couldn't get a game at werder bremen, couldn't break in at ajax, one year at feyenoord was very on and off and now nurnberg in the german second division.
Top class striker or what? He makes Thierry Henry look crap!
Oh, you're back? I thought you left because I destroyed you, but I see after a whole month, you just couldn't get over it, so I'll give you more!
Angelos Charisteas has 23 goals for the Greek national team, which puts him top 5 all time. He scored 4 goals in 4 games so far in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. I will remind you again that he has 4 goals all time so far in Euro Cup competition, 3 in 2004 which included the championship winner. And Euro 2004 was not a fluke, it was all heart.
wow. what on earth makes you think that? talk about arrogance and knowing it all.
So he is one of Greece's top 5 scorers of all time - big deal. Does nothing to compare the ugly toad with other class strikers around the world past or present. 4 goals in 4 WC quals, wow in the weakest group of all! He scored in a Euro final - so did John Jensen and he was kind of a one-game wonder as a result. Oops, sorry that was way before your time.....
No, no. See, I would be arrogant if I said something like "Greeks are the best at everything". During the whole argument, I simply stated facts, and you denied them and/or made excuses or absurd stories of why those facts occured, so obviously, you are ignorant.
Every group has 2-3 teams that are considered sure-wins. Switzerland and Israel aren't the best, but they have quality. Ex. Israel is now one rank ahead of Greece. No matter what you say, he still socred the goal of the tournament.
You've also been denying facts earlier and making excuses for Italy's world cup win. So you clearly have issues there, too. Rankings mean very little, especially considering how often team USA has been in the top 10!
Israel and Swiss are both dull and boring and negative like Greece. It is (along with Holland's group) still the easiest qual group compared to others.
Goal of the tournament - what, a header from a corner that a spastic goalkeeper could not catch? Classy goal, eh......
No, no. I said my opinion about Italy's world cup 'win', and it's the only country I have a problem with. Against USA, two undeserved red cards. Against Australia, 2 minutes stoppage time was indicated, and at the 4 and a half minute mark, the ref calls a penalty on Aussie. Things like this point out corruption, not to mention the Juventus manager unsuccesfully tried to kill himself when he was caught paying off refs. I'm not the only one to say that Italy is corrupt in the sport of soccer.
That's right. It does mean very little, as exemplified by Greece in 2004. But yes, overall, it is quite stupidly calculated.
Again, what does it matter if a team is "dull and boring"? On the trophy, they didn't write: "1996 Champions-Germany, the fast and entertaining. 2000 Champions-France, the adrenaline pumping and eye catching. 2004 Champions-Greece, the dull and boring. What matters is CHAMPIONSHIPS, not the way you play. Otherwise England would be Euro and world champions automatically.
Stats maybe....but what matters to a neytral is the manner of victory that make sit enjoyable or not, and the fact that so many selfish patriotic greeks enjoyed their boring win makes me sick. And I know you claim to know more about soccer than the average north american but that means BS. I take it you only followed the game some time after 2000 and know nothing about past games. And "winning goal" and "goal of the tournament" are two VERY different things. And where is Crapisteas now?
Well you obviously have no morals. Something is wrong in your head, and some cases like yourself, the ignorance can't be corrected, but it balances out because your views on life and sports are what is truly sickening, not taking passion and pride in a championship. On a score sheet, they mark the goal and the assist, not how enjoyable it was. On a trophy, they write the name of the team, not how enjoyable they won it.
Wah wah wah. Yes I know they write the name of the team and y'know I resent the fact that Real Madrid won la liga in 07 when it should have been sevilla, but I can handle it. So what if someone take little passion or pride in a championship? You're still a kid. You'll get some inevitable nice greek lung cancer sooner or later.....
Why are you restating your opinion in question form? What is wrong with you?
I'm still a kid? Gee, must mean I'm more stupid than you, right? Haha, I wish there were more people coming onto this video to see how pathetically abnormal your views are, and I genuinely mean that.
I would tell you to go to hell, like the piece of shit you are, but since I feel bad that you are so intellectually dumb, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. GREEK lung cancer? Gee, I didn't know that existed...
Considering how every little greekie like that bitch mercouri smoke like its normal, it's an inevitable disease. And I was only questioning an earlier statement of yours by asking why should you be miffed if someone is apathetic towards sports or whatever? Live and let sodding live.
Telling me to go to hell and calling me abnormal after what..... I slagged of Team Greece. Some people may not agree with me but I can assure you there are others who will. Look, football ain't the most importnat thing in the world you know.
No, I told you to go to hell because you wished death upon people. You said that Mercouri was a bitch and deserved to die and that I'll get lung cancer as well, saying it like you're so cool about it. Do you think it's funny to make fun of people who die from cancer or who get cancer? For those views, you can easily go to hell. Be careful.
What if someone you loved smoked? What would you do? Say "Haha! You're gonna get lung cancer!"
We're here to discuss football. Leave shit out of it.
Well then you're an evil piece of shit. What the fuck does smoking have to do with anything? Obviously, Greece and/or Greeks bother you because you say preposterous things and even felt the need to bring up something irrelevant to football to insult Greeks. I highly doubt it you would insult or make fun of someone in your family if they smoked. You are a fucking hypocrite and again, fool, Greece won the Euro Cup and stop bitching about it. We won it unentertainingly and the trophy is still ours.
Not any more, Spain have it - and more deservedly may I add!
Greek people do bother me for the way they think they can smoke and blow it in your sodding face without realising. Smoking seems normal and the done thing to look cool with them. When lung cancer kicks in, what goes around will indeed come around, like with Mercouri.
WHY am I stating abnormal views? Just because tehy contradict yours and I am taking the piss out of some boring team and player you wank yourself over. Plenty of non-greeks share my views.
I just love the way you refuse to find any fault in your beloved team. I have never known anyone to be so one sided. If you going to hit back and accuse me of similar, I can say much as I hate ugly Crapisteas he did score a good goal against England in 2001that had SOME skill to it. But precious little else of memory since. Oh wow, euro 04 some simple header in the final thanks to a spastic goalie who couldn't catch the ball, oh yeah best goal ever - puts Zidane and Van Basten to shame, eh?
Wrong again... It's almost depressing how there is a human being out there so ignorant and unintelligent such as yourself. When did I refuse ANYTHING? I am simply correcting you when you say that all that matters is playing entertaining. Are you that stupid or what? Obviously, if we DID win the Euro Cup, what fault was there? Yeah, Euro 2008 was a fuck up, but we're talking about 2004, and there, entertaining or not, we were the ONLY country out of 64 setting out, to lift the trophy.
I know full well winning is most important. All that started this was that I said Crapisteas was ugly and crap. And scoring goals in the Euro means nothing, he has remained a journeyman striker struggling in the german second division. If he is THAT good, why hasn't he been a regular for any top division european teams?
If you know that the aim is to win, then why do you care more that the team you support is entertaining (but can still finish last) than to WIN? Your opinion is that he's ugly, and that's fine. You're a minority. Even the video maker said he is hot. I know people that say he's good looking. Many guys on the Greek team were/are. And scoring goals in the EURO CUP is in fact SOMETHING. And you should know before you speak, fool. He scored 18 goals for Werder Bremen and 12 in ONE SEASON for Ajax.
Oh yeah, fool am I? No more than you mate. If Crapisteas scored 18 goals in ONE season at bremen, maybe. But that total was over 3 years. 12 in ONE season at ajax? Considering the dutch league may be OK but not of as high a standard as german, italian, english or spanish leagues that don't say much. Ugly toad is still a mediocre striker compared to many other FFS.
Be it 3 years or 10 years, it was done in 66 games played, which comes out to an average of a goal every 3 or so games, which is not an easy accomplishment in football. Surely you would know that, even if you are ignorant toward Greeks. And the Dutch league is one of the highest in the world, and Ajax is a major club in Europe, who constantly competes in UEFA Cup or Champions League. Are you THAT naive?
No matter what you think of him, that's fine. But don't deny that he's scored huge goals.
The Dutch league is not a bad league, but (eg with the golden boot rankings) it only carries a "x1.5" average factor (of multiplying the number of goals in ratio to quality of league) as opposed to the "x2" of the 5 big euro leagues.
I know full well Ajax have a great history but in the 2000s, apart from a run to the champions league semis in 2003 (before the ugly greek spacker joined) they have acheived nowt much big this decade.
I am also correcting you as you got some of your stats wrong. You may go to college, well hey so did I and graduated with my BA and MA. Ah, I miss Bristol.
So you HATE Charisteas? Why? What did he do to you? What can drive a person to hate another simply for the fact that he plays football other than to his taste?
Yes, it was a fantastic goal with his left foot too. But again dickhead, skill or no skill, a goal is a goal. Had he scored an "ugly" goal there, it would have been the same on the scoresheet and have the same effect on the game.
Again, you idiot, the goal against FRANCE is the one I'm refering to, but he ALSO scored the Euro winner.
"What can drive a person to hate another simply for the fact that he plays football other than to his taste?"
If that mystifies you, then you do not know much about the game. Disliking certain players for whatever reason is part and parcel of tem sports.
If that simple header against France was the best goal can you give me a link because I find videos of the top 10 Euro04 goals including from TV networks and there ain't a singly ugly greek turd. You are so over-biased.
Obviously, but the prick you are, you "dislike" him because he scores, scores often, but not goals that so incredible, we see them once a year. Do you know how fucked up you are?
Simple header? Zagorakis lifted the ball over the French defender, then perfectly sent it to Charisteas' head, and his header was so brilliant and accurate, it was as hard as a kick and went straight to the top corner.
So I am fucked up for disliking a mediocre striker, YOU ARE JUST AS FUCKED UP. As for me being a prick for disliking this ugly toad, surely there are sports people who have rubbed you the wrong way? Not liking medioctre strikers who don't score that often, if I had a penny for every time I heard people bash Emile Heskey for that reason I'd be pretty darn wealthy. and I know a lot of people will also think charistos is shit
Your reasons for disliking him are fucked up, and because you dislike him, you look for anything to throw his way including looks (HAHAHAHA!!!) And you are a prick for constantly denying things in Greece's favour and trashing Greece. You say Euro 2004 was undeserved because Greece was unentertaining?! You say that Charisteas is shit when he currently has 4 Euro Cup goals?! You say he's shit when he's played for top European clubs?!
And done not that much for Ajax or Bremen or Feyenoord.
Dislike a player for being ugly? If I got a penny the number of times people bash Rooney or Ronaldinho for being fugly fuckers, I'd be wealthier than Abramovich!
I constantly denied things in Greece's favour? No more than you discarding Italy's (thoroughly deserved!) world cup win.
You didn't address the statement properly. WHY do you dislike Charisteas so much?
And yes you did deny MANY things about Greece. I only mentioned Italy about 2-3 times max. Do you think it's fair how they scored that goal against Australia in the 5th min of extra time? Or the two red card to the US? Is that normal?
Dude, I'm half-Italian, but I couldn't give a shit less about Italy in football.
He was not first choice at Werder for most the time, Klose and Klasnic were preferred.
So you're half-Italian and half-Greek right? And Italy is kind of your motherland yet you don't give a shit about something that according to your logic you should technically be patriotic about to some degree, the same reasons you think it is fucked up that I am sometimes apathetic about England? H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E
He still scored some key goals and played for what was until recently a powerhouse German team.
What I was trying to get across is that I have Italian roots in me so it would be a reason for many for me to cheer for Italy, who is a supposed powerhouse. I listed my conditions for not cheerng for your roots, and I said that Italy plays dirty and cheap, and they've known for controversy and cheating. Greece never had controversy, and most of all, shocked the world with a miracle. How can I not?
You may have Italian roots and feel reluctant to support one of your motherlands because you are not too keen on their style of footie, OK fair dos BUT y'know, I mentioned my reluctance to support my "native" England coz I have not been too fond of their dull football....and then you say that is fucked up of me.
But of course, if I was full Italian, maybe my mentality would be different. Only Italians deny 2006 was bullshit. I know many people that lost all respect for Italy after 2006. But because I'm also half-Greek, I have two perspectives. I 1000% cheer for Greece any day because of the heart. Greece did a miracle in 2004 from HEART. Greece never has controversy, and plays fair football.
You might have forgotton that the goal of football is to score GOALS, not satisfy by being entertaining.
Many non-Italians I know are fine with 2006. Perhaps it's only in North America you are referring.
I know full well the aim is to score goals, but a lot of us like to be entertinaed, get our money and time's worth. Why do some of us cream our pants over Brazil 1970 or Holland 1974? Or more recently Spain 2008?
Holy shit! Did you just say you cream your pants for some teams?! WTF! LMFAO!!!!!! OH RONALDINHO!!! OH YES BABY!!! OH YEEEEEEES (squirt). HAHAHA!!!
If a neutral person attends a game, maybe that could be the mentality, but 99.99% of fans attend their team's game and spend their hard earned cash to see their team win in person.
It's not that I'm to keen on their style of football because no matter what, the Italians are good. It's just that the whole world knows that 2006 was corrupt and when a player breathes on an Italian, they fall flat and require a stretcher. Why should I support cowards and cheaters? You simply don't support England because they are too BORING for you. There's a difference. So if England wins the next 5 World Cups but did it somewhat unentertainingly, you wouldn't be happy?
So what if I have apathy with England for being dull? SO WHAT? No I wouldn't be happy if any team wins world cups boringly - most fans especially "neutrals" like to be entertained, don't you get it?
When Canada played Russia in the quarterfinal of the 2006 Turin Olympics in hockey, I cheered for Russia because not all of Russia's players were pro and wereinexperianced, the underdogs. Canada, favourite to win the gold medal, full of superstar millionaires. I cheered for Russia and was happy that they won. THERE is a good reason for not cheering for your country, not becaause the land that gave you life and freedom simply plays a sport to your distaste. You make me sick.
I MAKE YOU SICK? oh god, PMLFMAO why? Look doofus if the land of birth plays a sport not to my taste i may not bother supporting them but did i ever say i hope for them to lose and pray for their opponents? and so what, WHAT IS IT TO YOU if someone cannot be bothered to supprt their home nation for those reasons? why should it make you sick you dweeb, its none of your business
Entertained? Yes, we all like to be entertained. I would love to be entertained watching two teams that I don't care about, but my team, all I care about is the WIN. So if you were the coach of a team and your player was on a breakaway, would you shout to him to hit the post just for a dramatic and entertaining scenario? We've been arging about the same thing over and over. Bottomline, no one gives a fuck what you say because a win is a win, and to beat a top class team, boring might be needed.
Bitch? you use that word a lot. are you a member of the elton john club or something? He has? What? Scored many big goals for clubs? Not that many and certainly not in the Champ League or UEFA Cup.
I "denied" many things about Greece, I am sure you would about Italy if you could be bothered.
Scoring in the 5th min of injury time is a painful way for anyone to lose, but hey is all sport fair?
And draw with Italy on Weds, it is just a friendly.
Well you are wrong with assuming my mentality on Italy. We've only discussed the country of Italy in football. You felt the need to mention "Greek" habbits and such as if they were relevant to anything. Your hatred for Greeks become more and more evident. I understand though. When something shocking like Euro 2004 happens, many will be cheering loudly for the underdog that triumphed but many will also scream in anger because it was unscripted.
I like seeing underdogs do well when they play entertaining and fun and score memorable goals, eg Denmark in Euro 92 or Czech Rep in 96..... not boring like the 2004 fluke champs.
Can you please tell me how exactly Euro 2004 was a fluke? If the whole tournament consisted of one game and we won, okay. But we beat PORTUGAL, TWICE. We also beat the DEFENDING CHAMPIONS FRANCE. We also beat THE FAVOURITES, CZECH REPUBLIC. You can throw in the tie with Spain too. We shut out 3 of the world's top teams and our defense was praised as one of the best ever. And boring or not, our country was written on the Henry-Delaunay Trophy!!!!!!
I wanted Czech Rep to win because they were good to watch and played some GOOD ATTRACTIVE FLOWING ATTACKING FOOTBALL until those fucking ugly greeks had to fuck it up for the neutrals. Fuck off.
Well that good attractive flowing football couldn't penetrate our solid, resilient and PRAISED defense, and whenever they could manage a shot, Niko was there to save it. :-P Let me tell you something bitch, if my team was eliminated, I couldn't give a shit less what the end result is. By what you said, you obviously care more about being entertained than to see your team win. So YOU are a hardcore neutral. And the Greek team is known to be studs. :-P YOU fuck off you little whiney bitch.
bitch, bitch, bitch, you sure are a faggot aren't you? known to be studs? says who? no more than certain other teams? yes, i do care for entertainment over partisanship but SO WHAT? what is the big deal? what is it to you? is there not more to life?
I don't know too much about David Bellion, but he did play for France's U21 team, and he currently plays for a top French team. Maybe his situation with Man U was similar to Charisteas'; not getting many chances to prove himself. He only got 24 caps in 3 years...
You only seem to have memory or knowledge of greek national team goals and feats. Get out more - watch footage of the Euro 88 final for a great game played by two great teams with THE best goal in a final ever.
You are also stupid for questioning why someone would not take passion and pride in a championship. SO FUCKING WHAT? Live and let live, everyone has different ideas and interests and not everybody is massively into sports.
There we have it: you aren't 'massively' into sports. Then why the hell are we having this conversation, my friend? You make fun of Greece for playing "unentertaining", so that must mean your philososhy is that is everyone was and should be like you, then every single Greek would not give a shit nor celebrate our Euro Cup triumph because we won it "unentertainingly". YOU ARE FUCKED UP. And to not care for your country simply because they don't play to your tase, you are pathetic.
YOU are pathetic and FUCKED UP as well trying to think it is unusual for some people to be apathetic about sports sometimes, FFS there is more to life! As Samuel Johnson said "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" or as Oscar Wilde put it "Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious".
Who are you to get miffed at people showing not enough passion or patriotism? What's it to you, twatface?
Well you moron, if England was playing Germany, and you cheered for Germany, is that logical? If you had no roots from Germany, no German friends, nothing even remote German in your life, yet you cheer for them solely because you like how they play, that's normal to you? If England was known for cheating or Germany plays with such heart and passion, okay. But just because your country plays too dull for your liking?! WOW! Infact, I bet you DID cheer for Germany this past Wednesday...
I didn't even pay attention to this weeks friendlies so either way I wasn't bothered. In fact I was impressed with and pleased with England, Fabio is working some magic like Sven did at times.
And SO WHAT if some people are apathetic towards patriotism at some occasions? None of your business whether or not that should be considered peculiar.
What does it matter if I was even born in 2000? I know a lot about world history that occured thousands of years ago. I wasn't alive during that time, so why can I know about history and not about soccer even if it occured before I was born or before I followed it? Idiot...
No, no, the goal he scored against France was seriously the goal of the tournament. It was said. Just look it up on Youtube for a reminder. And he also scored thw inning goal in the final against Portugal.
So what? Who called the france goal the "goal of the tournament"? probably some biased greek fan, all in your imagination. It was just a simple header. For a real "goal of the tournament" for 2004, not many spring to mind but Maniche (Por vs Hol) or Larsson's diving header against Bulgaria,
I may only be 25, but that doesn't stop me from taking interest in sporting events from before I was born. I can say that in football, Brazil 1970 and Hungary 1954 were something special. Idiot.
Also, that video you sent me was from TSN, the sports leader in Canada, where I'm from. Needless to say, football is not the specialty. There is only one true football analyst on TSN, Dick Howard. Everyone else that covered Euro 2004 and 2008 were regular TSN analysts that didn't know what they were talking about.
And you're a fucking hypocrite. You say that I don't know football before I was born (without proof) and then say that you do before you were born! So why can't I? FOOL!
Didn't know what they are talking about? Everyone in public who talks football or experts on the game and media talk about spectacular and clever goals as the great goals, y'know like Maradona's second against england in 86 or Van Basten in 88 or even Philip Lahm's opening goal at the world cup 06. And I have puh-lenty of knowledge of football from before I was born, I read and researched since I was a teen. And if Crapisteas scored the goal of the tournament GIVE ME A LINK FOR PROOF
You obviously call the France header the best goal coz u r biased FUCKING FOOL. Euro 2004 may not have been the greatest event but what about that blinder Maniche scored for POR against the dutch, or Zidane's free kick or Ibra's back-lob.
When people discuss the "goals of a tournament", ordinary headers barely feature. We look for long distance power shots, mazy dribbles, super volleys, unique bits of skill, cheeky chips (Davor Suker, anyone?).
If I was biased, I would say that every Greece goal was the best and so on. I only mentioned the France goal, because Zagorakis deked the shit out of the French defender and gave a once-in-a-blue moon perfect cross right to Angelos' head and it went straight to the top corner like a bullet. Nothing ordinary there. His goal against Portugal was more like an ordinary header, and it won us Euro 2004!!!
FOOL!
And to call me an idiot just for saying you should learn more about sport history. It doesn't matter whether the subject matter is sport, literature, politics, music, film, leaders, world events, train timetables or whatever it is always important to know as much background knowledge as possible
That's right, but why do you constantly assume I know nothing about football? Our discussion really only went as far back as Euro 2004. Also, you said the word 'sport'? Well my friend, coming from North America, I probably know a lot more about sports than you because in England, the sports played is probably 90% football. Do you anything about hockey? Did you know it was an Englishman who created the Stanley Cup, the trophy for the NHL championship? Lord Stanley, my friend.
Oh wow. Scoring for fun in the EASIEST world cup group. I hope to see Greece in the WC anyway, then we can see if you lot can play any interesting games.
Where is he on the broader scale of things? A journeyman striker lumping it in the german second division changing teams more than his underwear - no top team wants him! Henry, Torres, Messi, Berbatov, Rooney, Owen, Klose, Podolski, Robinho, Van Persie, Drogba and others are all shite compared to this greek wonder!
Hey loser dorkface, looks like I shut you up. Face it, ugly Crapisteas may have scored 3 Euro04 goals but what he doing now? plodding along in the 2.Bundesliga. Top class, makes Thierry Henry look shite? Yes, even if I do take exception to boring ugly Greece's win I know full well lots of other think likewise and besides you discredit Italy in 06 so that's equal. And there are NO non-greeks i have found that think Crapisteas is top class.
Hey bitch! What's happening? I know the arrogant English bastard you are, your arrogance allows you to think you "shut me up" but your pathetic neanderthal brain didn"t consider that I go to school and had much studies recently, therefore no time no take care of your blatantly pathetic posts, not to mention I've been toying with you for long enough already to the point of boring.
Yes bitch, he's in the German 2nd division, but his team is only recently there. Also, he still has 4 goals in WCQ!!
I may be an arrogant Brit-Kike but you are also an arrogant Greek.
Yeah he is in the German 2nd Division and Nurnberg are around 13th and closer to the 3Liga. I am so impressed, whoo. Face it, Crapisteas sucks and Greece are nothing special, Fluke 2004 is irrelevant so SHUT THE FUCK UP ASSHOLE.
Their stadium has a capacity of around 46,000, and in my book, that's pretty damn awesome. A team wouln't have a large capacity like that if they were shit. Okay, so as of late, they haven't been doing too well, but that club has a very long and deep history. Only recently has it been in the second division.
Like always, if you want to see Charisteas at his best, watch a game of Greece. I'm sure in England, you can catch all internationals for free, no?
Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Derby County all have stadia of minimum 30,000 capacity (and 3 of them used in euro 96) and also long and deep and colourful histories like Nurnberg but look where they are now and how well they are doing. They get large capacities but are doing shite at the mo.
Crapisteas is doing poop and you know it, if he is so great he should be playing for and scoring consistently in one of the 4 biggest euro leagues.
Charisteas is currently injured, so that's why he's not scoring goals at the moment. And he did play in the German 1st division and the Dutch 1st division, and did score goals when counted upon.
His team is in Division 2 right now, yes, and not doing so well, yes. But like you said, it is a pretty decent storied franchise and it will get out of it. Here in North America, we don't have Division 1, 2, 3 etc. for sports. It's one league, and a bad team can win the title the next year.
"Charisteas is currently injured, so that's why he's not scoring goals at the moment. And he did play in the German 1st division and the Dutch 1st division, and did score goals when counted upon"
He wasn't too injury hit last year when Nurnberg were relegated? He has scored some goals in the Bundesliga when counted on but compared to most, nothing that ranks as special.
hey weener your arguments to convince me that ugly cuntisteas is a class striker have failed to convince. if he was so good he would be at top clubs and int heir first team consistently rather than be a drifting journeyman. period. end of.
euro 2004? well, ever heard the concept of the one tournament wonder(s)? like Toto Schillachi? same category.
Of course they haven't because some people cannot be cured of the unfortunate disease of ignorance. But at least I had myself in your mind, and you felt the need to contently reply with anger and frustration, so I did infact make you remember the name Charisteas and what he can do.
He did play for top clubs and plays for one which he will never be traded from, Greece.
And why do you go defending this ugly spastic so much against my insults and "ignorance" as you repeatedly call it?
The national teams of Nigeria, Iceland and Australia may have achieved very litle but most people will agree with me that Yakubu, Gudjohnsen and Viduka are way better strikers, especially when you look at their scoring rates in the Premier League and Europe competitions. Unlike the ugly toadface spastic here.
Why do I defend him? Why should I not defend him, especially against an ignorant fool like yourself. He gave our country glory. He's a phenomenal player and everytime an English commentator says his name, they always follow it with "the hero of 2004." He hasn't had that much luck with playing time for clubs so far, but when he plays, he plays. Those strikers you've mentioned don't have the honour that Angelos has, which includes a major tournament goal winner. And he's a stud, ask many people:-P
"everytime an English commentator says his name, they always follow it with "the hero of 2004."
Not heard the hero word used in the UK or Ireland for that matter.
So, the ugly troll is better than some players who never won a major international honour? So he is better than Johan Cruyff, then? or Puskas? or even Ryan Giggs?
When did I ever say he was better than anyone? I never compared him to anyone. I am simply stating facts against what pathetic things you say. The men you named are very good, no doubt, but they're irrelevant. All I'm doing is stating facts for how Charisteas is an excellent player when you mindlessly say he's shit or whatever. And repeatedly saying he's ugly is useless and it's again just your opinion. Many people say he's good looking.
many say he's good looking? proof? link? other than the retard who made this video?
look, he's mediocre, if he was so amazing he would be a consistent top scorer in the major european leagues, but he hardly got into double figures during any single bundesliga season. this is boring me
Well in that case, where's your proof in saying that he's ugly?
Enough talking about his performances in club competition. I've already stated number for you but it didn't change anything. We can end this topic like this: watch a game of Greece, and you'll see his real overall.
And if this is boring you then why do you keep coming back?
I don't care, let's end it there he is a JOURNEYMAN STRIKER and scoring in euro04 won't change that. He is same calibre as Peter Crouch or Emile Heskey - which isn't too bad, mind you. ;) Same for some of those average players like the koreans and others who shone in the freak world cup of 2002, they soon reverted back to averageness, SALIF DIAO was one of the big stars of that world cup - he's been a class act since, eh?
And where's your proof in saying this ugly toad is a studmuffin? Don't mention that some friends of yours may have said so because I could use that argument against that - and it is not just Brits who have said they think his looks are equal to ronaldinho
Well you mother fucker, my praise of this man went no further than simply rightfully defending him against the pathetically meaningless attacks attempted on him. You say he's horrible, and I simply tell you that he scored 3 goals for the champion team in Euro 2004, including the winner.
And how often did I mention Italy in our entire argument?! Twice? 3 times? If anything, yet again, I brought up Italy because you mentioned them first. And I didn't say anything about their other World Cups.
Oh stop calling me an ignorant fool just for taking the piss out of a mediocre fluke striker. i get it, he scored three goals in one euro cup - so? Schillachi was world cup top scorer in 1990, what had he acheived before or after? Sod all.
And meaningless attacks? You've never been to a soccer game in Europe and heard the sort of insults that are commonplace?
Well I'm sure fans at a football game in Europe say a lot to each other and shout things dorected toward the game or a player, but I bet they don't consist of ignorance or false things. For example, if someone gets tripped and there's no call, I'm sure they'll be "FUCKING ASSHOLE PIECE OF SHIT!" or whatever, but not "Oh that Charisteas is so shit even though he scored 3 goals in Euro 2004 including the winner and has over 20 international goals." :-P
You still have no idea - a friend invited me to a few arsenal games, both premier league and euro champ league and you have no idea which players got insulted and how - irrespective of what they have won. eg, was at arsenal vs hamburg and also arsneal vs fenerbahce (who a lot of turkey's euro 2008 semifinalists were at, as well as Dani Guiza, a EURO WINNER with spain) - yet almost every opposing player was greeted with "who the fuck are you?" even van der vaart at HSV. Guess that's ignorance?
I wasn't there, so I can't judge if they were joking, drunk, being idiots, heavily supporting their team by saying anything that comes into their head to throw at the opposing team, or maybe they weren't really football fans; they're just a bunch of fuckin' hooligans who had enough money to buy tickets and fight. England has more of that than any other country.
Not just in England, I hear of such abuse from fans to opponents sometimes even of a racial nature around Europe be it in italy or spain or germany or even greece.
Within the next 4 or 5 Euro tournaments, if we fail to make any spark at all, then we can say it was a one tournament wonder. But you're forgetting that it was only one Euro ago, and it wasn't long ago that every commentator was referring to us as the "Defending Champs".
Yes, Denmark seems to be a one tournament wonder. It was 4 Euros ago. They didn't have to win it again to not make it a one tournament wonder, but create some spark. If we make it to the quarter-final or the semi-final within the next 1 or 2 Euros, then that in itself does not make Euro 2004 a one tournament wonder. Same goas for the World Cup. If we make something happen in 2010, Euro 2004 isn't a "once in a lifelife" anymore is it?
Your arguments are plain shit too and do nothing to convince. 2004 was a one-off and you know it. Malakas, you didn't qualify for the world cup and lost every game at euro and Crapisteas I still wait for him to shine in one of the top euro leagues. I heard rumours of Bolton or Stoke signing him, come to think he'd be perfect for their dull and ugly negative football! I'd laugh if he fails to make an impact - time may tell.
Yeah, we didn't qualify for World Cup 2006. Shit happens. We were 2 points behind the second place team, that's how close we came. Our biggest fuck up there was our first game, when we lost to Albania in Athens. Albania is shit, but they scored 2 goals in the opening 10 minutes. We were only one month fresh of our Euro triumph and weren't ready. We were still celebrating. Big mistake, but it won't happen again. We gained experiance.
Yes, we lost all our 3 group stage games at Euro 2008 but again, shit happens. We weren't lucky. Our worst game was our opener, Sweden. It was dead level until Kyriakos, like an idiot, left Ibrahimovic open, and was also the cause for the second goal. If there's anyone I feel bad for, it was poor Nikopolidis. In the Russia game, we came VERY close. For fuck sake, we even had a CLEAR goal disallowed. Also, don't forget that we had 2 of the 4 semi-final teams. It was bad luck.
2004 was not lucky. You can be lucky for one game, or even two. But for SIX, to call EACH game luck? So Greece played like shit the whole Euro Cup and won simply because the opponents, who were of the highest quality in the world, played the worst games ever, right? That must be why we won...
And the Premiership is still the highest club lever football in the world.
And why do you keep saying that you shut me up when I don't reply right a way? I don't say that when you take a month...
Undeserved was the word rather than lucky. And one of those six games included a loss against Russia and a draw with an under-par Spanish side. You won by playing well...... but more fecking boring than watching paint dry. A very bad advertisement for football by most people's stretch.
I'll be honest, we were lucky with one thing. Us and Spain each had 4 points and the same goal differential. I think we went through because we scored a goal in each game and Spain was shut out in one. So there, yes we were lucky. But then in the medal rounds, nothing was lucky nor undeserved. We shut out 3 of the top teams in the world. We lost one game in all but that's how it works; you can lose one and still win the Euro Cup!
And it's a great advertisement because everyone love underdogs.

Oh Charsiteeeeeeas, WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING UGLY?
JMR83 3 years ago
There are about 100 strikers in the world better than Crapisteas.
JMR83 3 years ago
OK.
1) I came across the video by accident
2) I know you never described the ugly toad as "hot". I was questioning the bizarre choice of words by the video's creator
3) Personally, I don't find many greek men hot, most are ugly and/or hairy except maybe sakis rouvas - who is hot! and porbably a few others but thats it.
JMR83 3 years ago
why? is it not fair to express opinions? i think it is laughable anyone could find crapisteas hot
JMR83 3 years ago
nah mate, you're more likely the retard
JMR83 3 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
and i had to click on the vid when the creator used the word "hot" to describe cristeas
JMR83 3 years ago
Why did I watch the video? I just came across it, simple as that you retard. not out of choice. he's so fuckin ugly and shite as well, changes his teams eveyr year and couldnt keep nurnberg in the bundesliga. haha. he should play for arbroath, that's more his standard!
JMR83 3 years ago
Angelos Charisteas is ugly? Are you retarded or what?
And did you say he's SHIT?! You are a complete fucking useless shithead. Maybe you aren't aware that he scored 3 goals in Euro 2004, one in the final against Portugal that won Greece the championship, AND he won the golden boot award of the tournament. You are a fucking loser.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Yes he is ugly. So are most Greek men. Yes he scored three goals in that BORING DULL UNDESERVED FLUKE Euro champ win. And no, he didn't win the Golden Boot it was (the slightly better looking) Milan Baros who took that honour.
I see you be from North America, well you lot from that part of the world are mere newcomers to the game of soccer, who know little about the game so think before writing crap.
Thank God a team that plays decent football won euro2008 - ditto world cup 06
;)
JMR83 3 years ago
Wow, you must be a hardcore British fag who only likes fellow British fags. Ask any women if they find Greek men in general hot, and you will be enlightened. I can understand your jealousy and ignorance, though. You are jealous of Greece, so you say stupid things, like also how Euro 2004 was a fluke, when we beat Portugal TWICE, France (defending champs), and Czech. Greece was praised for having the best defense in years.
mcaris17 3 years ago
"Greece was praised for having the best defense in years."
Wow. Same also goes for Italy in '06 and Spain in '08 but at least they had more attacking style (in comparison) and their defences were also praised. OK, you are Greek-Canadian and perhaps know more about soccer than the average North American, but I bet you are only a recent follower of the sport, I doubt you followed much footie more than seven years ago.
JMR83 3 years ago
Spain did not have one clean sheet in Euro 2008 until the final, so I wouldn't exactly say they had terrific defending. Let's not talk about Italy because World Cup 2006 was fixed.
Whether I am a recent follower of football or soccer (whichever you prefer), it's not exactly relevant is it? What is your point? So let's say I am 7 years old... I can't read up on previous sporting events before my time?
mcaris17 3 years ago
And don't talk of North America, because I am Greek and know plenty of football. The pure Canadians and Americans don't know anything, but the ethnics do. And please don't go talking about the fake champions of Italy in 2006. The whole world knows it was fixed. Yes, Spain played very good and deserved Euro 2008, their first in over 40 years. No matter how you play or how big the score is, a win is a win.
By the way, Charisteas got laid SO many more times than you, so you shouldn't talk.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Bwahahahaha, oh yeah I loove ur style mate. Ugly charisteas got laid more times than me, so what? can you tell me why anyone would find him good looking? most greek men (not all, mind you) are hairy or ugly from my experience. And before you make some stupid jibes about how England couldn't do any better I couldn't care less coz england are boring too and suck and i barely ever support them. the boring greeks are the only european team i dislike more. Now go smoke up like that bitch Mercouri
JMR83 3 years ago
"fake champions of Italy in 2006?" oh, perche? They had a penalty awarded AGAINST them in the final - cannot claim they were fixed. And sure the Italians have played dull stuff in the past but even they have shown more attacking verve than the borefest champs of 2004. Aw, so I be jealous of a boring successful team? You tell us a win is a win no matter how you play, but I don't think any non-greek would say something like that to do stick up for team that win defensively
JMR83 3 years ago
Yes, and it was a blatant one too. Just like how they had a red card against the U.S., but like that game, the ref has to make up. They also had a penalty FOR them against Australia in the 90+4th minute of stoppage time.
Let me ask you a question. If the team you cheer for wins a championship by winning defensively, you won't support them anymore because they play defensively? Are you stupid or what? Boring or not, the goal is to score more goals than your opponent by the final whistle.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Oh. MY.
JMR83 3 years ago
And I don't know what you meant by what you said, but there are MANY proud Greeks in NA. Anyway...
You're even a hypocrite now. You deny Italy, yet say South Korea... And yes, makeup calls happen in sports, especially with Italy in football.
Seriously, what is wrong with you? You are English, and don't even support England because they're not "exciting" enough for you? WTF? Yet NOW you might consider it because they beat Croatia 4-1! Psychiatry...
So who do you cheer for?
mcaris17 3 years ago
So I said that I had been reluctant to support England on the basis of being boring despite being my homeland. Even if partly true, I am amazed at how uber-serious you take such comments and your severe lack of an SOH.
JMR83 3 years ago
I'm waiting for your response, dickweed
JMR83 3 years ago
And I know you were, and I'm glad I kept you waiting ;-). Haha, nah, the truth is I had things to do, but I'm still glad I irritated you. :-P Dickweed.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Such as being arrogant like all Greeks. now go smoke up and get lung cancer like that cow Mercouri - served her right.
JMR83 3 years ago
You are a cruel person. Yes, it is bad to smoke but bashing a dead person who died from cancer is cruel. You really are a piece of shit.
Maybe you are just jealous of an Academy Award nominated actress who happed to be Greek.
And nah, we're not arrogant, but we do have a lot more things to show off about that any other culture or nationality, so sometimes it's tempting. :-)
mcaris17 3 years ago
My main gripe is with Greek people ALWAYS FUCKING SMOKING. Always. Every sodding Greek person is smoke smoke smoke blow it in your face and ignore you with no consideration for others. As though they think it is cool or trendy or sophisticated. Well, major newsflash for you - IT AIN'T. It just makes ya look like an arrogant bitch and lung cancer is karma.
I still admire and respect Greek history, mind you. But then again, we Jews also have a lot to show off and be proud of.....
JMR83 3 years ago
Have you ever been to Greece? Have you personnally seen nearly every Greek person you pass smoke? Maybe in England where you're from, you went to a bar a few times when Greece was playing football, and the Greek men happened to be smoking. Maybe because it's a bar? Characterizing a nationality by how much you think it smokes is stupid and childish.
Yes, Jews do, that's true. They have the highest doctor and lawyer rate in the world, and it is the most plesant country in the Middle-East.
mcaris17 3 years ago
My Goodness, someone here has not done their research to know that smoking in enclosed spaces has been forbidden in the UK since July 1st 2007.
Pfft, you think I went into a bar in England when Greece happened to be playing? I have plenty of reasons to go to a bar that don't involve football.
I have been to Athens, and probably every Greek even friends of mine were cig cig cig puff puff puff.
I respect Greek history and culture and they have some beautiful women, too. Not men, though. hehe
JMR83 3 years ago
Well maybe that's because I'm not from England?
I was merely trying to make a point. Greece or Greek men have never been known for smoking excessively. There are things that are accociated with certain nationalities, ex. Ireland and drinking, but I've never heard of smoking with Greeks. I am Greek, I am surrounded by Greek people many days of my life, and few of them smoke. Smoking is to the person, not the nationality.
Wow, you have Greek friends? The way you speak, it's like you hate Greeks.
mcaris17 3 years ago
I beg to differ, 95% of all greek men and women puff up like it is some fuckin religion.
Maybe you haven't seen that many puffers because maybe Americanised greeks (or rather, north americans of greek origin) are less notorious than those in greece or anywhere in europe?
JMR83 3 years ago
So it's not necessarily Greeks, but Europeans as a whole that smoke more.
mcaris17 3 years ago
I forgot to notice you tried to argue that Spain did not keep a clean sheet in Euro 2008 until the final? Um, they also 0-0 in the qf against italy and 3-0 in the semi-final against russia. were you watching the same event? so their defence was just as good if not tighter than greece's. and spain conceding in the 4-1 against russia, well it was at the end of the game when they had it sewn up so they could lax off towards the end.
JMR83 3 years ago
Yeah, that's right. I forgot about the Italy game, because it went into shootout. But is that really considered a clean sheet? Anyway, the Russia game I forgot about because I remembered 4-1, but I forgot the semi-final game.
In Euro 2004, when we beat Portugal in the opening game, it was 2-0 until stoppage time, so Greece also laid back. Anyway, I'm not denying that Spain had a good year. They wanted it, and they played like never before. But you can't knock Greece when we got 3 shutouts.
mcaris17 3 years ago
TBH, i do not like seeing dull temas do well. I was pretty glad england lost to w.germany in the 1990 semifinal, as the germans had scored lots of goals en route to the semi but england scraped most of their games especially in that boring roup.
And I remember reading somewhere that greece had the highest rate of lung cancer deaths in the EU (the survey included new member states from the east as well). It was hard not to laugh, I must say.......
JMR83 3 years ago

JMR83 3 years ago
Oh, you're back? I thought you left because I destroyed you, but I see after a whole month, you just couldn't get over it, so I'll give you more!
Angelos Charisteas has 23 goals for the Greek national team, which puts him top 5 all time. He scored 4 goals in 4 games so far in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers. I will remind you again that he has 4 goals all time so far in Euro Cup competition, 3 in 2004 which included the championship winner. And Euro 2004 was not a fluke, it was all heart.
mcaris17 3 years ago
"I thought you left because I destroyed you"
wow. what on earth makes you think that? talk about arrogance and knowing it all.
JMR83 3 years ago
No matter what you say, he still socred the goal of the tournament.
mcaris17 3 years ago
You've also been denying facts earlier and making excuses for Italy's world cup win. So you clearly have issues there, too. Rankings mean very little, especially considering how often team USA has been in the top 10!
Israel and Swiss are both dull and boring and negative like Greece. It is (along with Holland's group) still the easiest qual group compared to others.
Goal of the tournament - what, a header from a corner that a spastic goalkeeper could not catch? Classy goal, eh......
JMR83 3 years ago
I'm not the only one to say that Italy is corrupt in the sport of soccer.
mcaris17 3 years ago
That's right. It does mean very little, as exemplified by Greece in 2004. But yes, overall, it is quite stupidly calculated.
Again, what does it matter if a team is "dull and boring"? On the trophy, they didn't write: "1996 Champions-Germany, the fast and entertaining. 2000 Champions-France, the adrenaline pumping and eye catching. 2004 Champions-Greece, the dull and boring. What matters is CHAMPIONSHIPS, not the way you play. Otherwise England would be Euro and world champions automatically.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Stats maybe....but what matters to a neytral is the manner of victory that make sit enjoyable or not, and the fact that so many selfish patriotic greeks enjoyed their boring win makes me sick. And I know you claim to know more about soccer than the average north american but that means BS. I take it you only followed the game some time after 2000 and know nothing about past games. And "winning goal" and "goal of the tournament" are two VERY different things. And where is Crapisteas now?
;)
JMR83 3 years ago
Well you obviously have no morals. Something is wrong in your head, and some cases like yourself, the ignorance can't be corrected, but it balances out because your views on life and sports are what is truly sickening, not taking passion and pride in a championship. On a score sheet, they mark the goal and the assist, not how enjoyable it was. On a trophy, they write the name of the team, not how enjoyable they won it.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Wah wah wah. Yes I know they write the name of the team and y'know I resent the fact that Real Madrid won la liga in 07 when it should have been sevilla, but I can handle it. So what if someone take little passion or pride in a championship? You're still a kid. You'll get some inevitable nice greek lung cancer sooner or later.....
JMR83 3 years ago
Why are you restating your opinion in question form? What is wrong with you?
I'm still a kid? Gee, must mean I'm more stupid than you, right? Haha, I wish there were more people coming onto this video to see how pathetically abnormal your views are, and I genuinely mean that.
I would tell you to go to hell, like the piece of shit you are, but since I feel bad that you are so intellectually dumb, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. GREEK lung cancer? Gee, I didn't know that existed...
mcaris17 3 years ago
Considering how every little greekie like that bitch mercouri smoke like its normal, it's an inevitable disease. And I was only questioning an earlier statement of yours by asking why should you be miffed if someone is apathetic towards sports or whatever? Live and let sodding live.
JMR83 3 years ago
Telling me to go to hell and calling me abnormal after what..... I slagged of Team Greece. Some people may not agree with me but I can assure you there are others who will. Look, football ain't the most importnat thing in the world you know.
JMR83 3 years ago
No, I told you to go to hell because you wished death upon people. You said that Mercouri was a bitch and deserved to die and that I'll get lung cancer as well, saying it like you're so cool about it. Do you think it's funny to make fun of people who die from cancer or who get cancer? For those views, you can easily go to hell. Be careful.
What if someone you loved smoked? What would you do? Say "Haha! You're gonna get lung cancer!"
We're here to discuss football. Leave shit out of it.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Actually yes, I would. If they smoke non-stop it is only inevitable.
JMR83 3 years ago
The very unfortunate cases are those non-smokers who get lung cancer as an effect of passive smoking such as Roy Castle, one of my childhood icons.
JMR83 3 years ago
Well then you're an evil piece of shit. What the fuck does smoking have to do with anything? Obviously, Greece and/or Greeks bother you because you say preposterous things and even felt the need to bring up something irrelevant to football to insult Greeks. I highly doubt it you would insult or make fun of someone in your family if they smoked. You are a fucking hypocrite and again, fool, Greece won the Euro Cup and stop bitching about it. We won it unentertainingly and the trophy is still ours.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Not any more, Spain have it - and more deservedly may I add!
Greek people do bother me for the way they think they can smoke and blow it in your sodding face without realising. Smoking seems normal and the done thing to look cool with them. When lung cancer kicks in, what goes around will indeed come around, like with Mercouri.
JMR83 3 years ago
WHY am I stating abnormal views? Just because tehy contradict yours and I am taking the piss out of some boring team and player you wank yourself over. Plenty of non-greeks share my views.
JMR83 3 years ago
I just love the way you refuse to find any fault in your beloved team. I have never known anyone to be so one sided. If you going to hit back and accuse me of similar, I can say much as I hate ugly Crapisteas he did score a good goal against England in 2001that had SOME skill to it. But precious little else of memory since. Oh wow, euro 04 some simple header in the final thanks to a spastic goalie who couldn't catch the ball, oh yeah best goal ever - puts Zidane and Van Basten to shame, eh?
;)
JMR83 3 years ago
Wrong again... It's almost depressing how there is a human being out there so ignorant and unintelligent such as yourself. When did I refuse ANYTHING? I am simply correcting you when you say that all that matters is playing entertaining. Are you that stupid or what? Obviously, if we DID win the Euro Cup, what fault was there? Yeah, Euro 2008 was a fuck up, but we're talking about 2004, and there, entertaining or not, we were the ONLY country out of 64 setting out, to lift the trophy.
mcaris17 3 years ago
I know full well winning is most important. All that started this was that I said Crapisteas was ugly and crap. And scoring goals in the Euro means nothing, he has remained a journeyman striker struggling in the german second division. If he is THAT good, why hasn't he been a regular for any top division european teams?
JMR83 3 years ago
If you know that the aim is to win, then why do you care more that the team you support is entertaining (but can still finish last) than to WIN? Your opinion is that he's ugly, and that's fine. You're a minority. Even the video maker said he is hot. I know people that say he's good looking. Many guys on the Greek team were/are. And scoring goals in the EURO CUP is in fact SOMETHING. And you should know before you speak, fool. He scored 18 goals for Werder Bremen and 12 in ONE SEASON for Ajax.
mcaris17 3 years ago
How many NON-GREEKS think he is good looking? Most friends of mine be they british, italian, spanish, swedish or whatever think not.
18 goals at werder in 3 YEARS, not a great return. Frenando Torres, Luca Toni and even Henrik Larsson must all suck in comparison.
JMR83 3 years ago
Oh yeah, fool am I? No more than you mate. If Crapisteas scored 18 goals in ONE season at bremen, maybe. But that total was over 3 years. 12 in ONE season at ajax? Considering the dutch league may be OK but not of as high a standard as german, italian, english or spanish leagues that don't say much. Ugly toad is still a mediocre striker compared to many other FFS.
JMR83 3 years ago
Be it 3 years or 10 years, it was done in 66 games played, which comes out to an average of a goal every 3 or so games, which is not an easy accomplishment in football. Surely you would know that, even if you are ignorant toward Greeks. And the Dutch league is one of the highest in the world, and Ajax is a major club in Europe, who constantly competes in UEFA Cup or Champions League. Are you THAT naive?
No matter what you think of him, that's fine. But don't deny that he's scored huge goals.
mcaris17 3 years ago
The Dutch league is not a bad league, but (eg with the golden boot rankings) it only carries a "x1.5" average factor (of multiplying the number of goals in ratio to quality of league) as opposed to the "x2" of the 5 big euro leagues.
I know full well Ajax have a great history but in the 2000s, apart from a run to the champions league semis in 2003 (before the ugly greek spacker joined) they have acheived nowt much big this decade.
JMR83 3 years ago
I am also correcting you as you got some of your stats wrong. You may go to college, well hey so did I and graduated with my BA and MA. Ah, I miss Bristol.
JMR83 3 years ago
So you HATE Charisteas? Why? What did he do to you? What can drive a person to hate another simply for the fact that he plays football other than to his taste?
Yes, it was a fantastic goal with his left foot too. But again dickhead, skill or no skill, a goal is a goal. Had he scored an "ugly" goal there, it would have been the same on the scoresheet and have the same effect on the game.
Again, you idiot, the goal against FRANCE is the one I'm refering to, but he ALSO scored the Euro winner.
mcaris17 3 years ago
"What can drive a person to hate another simply for the fact that he plays football other than to his taste?"
If that mystifies you, then you do not know much about the game. Disliking certain players for whatever reason is part and parcel of tem sports.
If that simple header against France was the best goal can you give me a link because I find videos of the top 10 Euro04 goals including from TV networks and there ain't a singly ugly greek turd. You are so over-biased.
JMR83 3 years ago
Obviously, but the prick you are, you "dislike" him because he scores, scores often, but not goals that so incredible, we see them once a year. Do you know how fucked up you are?
Simple header? Zagorakis lifted the ball over the French defender, then perfectly sent it to Charisteas' head, and his header was so brilliant and accurate, it was as hard as a kick and went straight to the top corner.
mcaris17 3 years ago
So I am fucked up for disliking a mediocre striker, YOU ARE JUST AS FUCKED UP. As for me being a prick for disliking this ugly toad, surely there are sports people who have rubbed you the wrong way? Not liking medioctre strikers who don't score that often, if I had a penny for every time I heard people bash Emile Heskey for that reason I'd be pretty darn wealthy. and I know a lot of people will also think charistos is shit
JMR83 3 years ago
Your reasons for disliking him are fucked up, and because you dislike him, you look for anything to throw his way including looks (HAHAHAHA!!!) And you are a prick for constantly denying things in Greece's favour and trashing Greece. You say Euro 2004 was undeserved because Greece was unentertaining?! You say that Charisteas is shit when he currently has 4 Euro Cup goals?! You say he's shit when he's played for top European clubs?!
mcaris17 3 years ago
And done not that much for Ajax or Bremen or Feyenoord.
Dislike a player for being ugly? If I got a penny the number of times people bash Rooney or Ronaldinho for being fugly fuckers, I'd be wealthier than Abramovich!
I constantly denied things in Greece's favour? No more than you discarding Italy's (thoroughly deserved!) world cup win.
JMR83 3 years ago
Actually he has, bitch!
By the way, Greece tied Italy on Wednesday!!!
mcaris17 3 years ago
He was not first choice at Werder for most the time, Klose and Klasnic were preferred.
So you're half-Italian and half-Greek right? And Italy is kind of your motherland yet you don't give a shit about something that according to your logic you should technically be patriotic about to some degree, the same reasons you think it is fucked up that I am sometimes apathetic about England? H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E
JMR83 3 years ago
He still scored some key goals and played for what was until recently a powerhouse German team.
What I was trying to get across is that I have Italian roots in me so it would be a reason for many for me to cheer for Italy, who is a supposed powerhouse. I listed my conditions for not cheerng for your roots, and I said that Italy plays dirty and cheap, and they've known for controversy and cheating. Greece never had controversy, and most of all, shocked the world with a miracle. How can I not?
mcaris17 3 years ago
You may have Italian roots and feel reluctant to support one of your motherlands because you are not too keen on their style of footie, OK fair dos BUT y'know, I mentioned my reluctance to support my "native" England coz I have not been too fond of their dull football....and then you say that is fucked up of me.
JMR83 3 years ago
So for the exact same reasons I can call you fucked up for bashing Italy.....
JMR83 3 years ago
But of course, if I was full Italian, maybe my mentality would be different. Only Italians deny 2006 was bullshit. I know many people that lost all respect for Italy after 2006. But because I'm also half-Greek, I have two perspectives. I 1000% cheer for Greece any day because of the heart. Greece did a miracle in 2004 from HEART. Greece never has controversy, and plays fair football.
You might have forgotton that the goal of football is to score GOALS, not satisfy by being entertaining.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Many non-Italians I know are fine with 2006. Perhaps it's only in North America you are referring.
I know full well the aim is to score goals, but a lot of us like to be entertinaed, get our money and time's worth. Why do some of us cream our pants over Brazil 1970 or Holland 1974? Or more recently Spain 2008?
JMR83 3 years ago
Holy shit! Did you just say you cream your pants for some teams?! WTF! LMFAO!!!!!! OH RONALDINHO!!! OH YES BABY!!! OH YEEEEEEES (squirt). HAHAHA!!!
If a neutral person attends a game, maybe that could be the mentality, but 99.99% of fans attend their team's game and spend their hard earned cash to see their team win in person.
mcaris17 3 years ago
I was referring to BRAZIL 1970 in any case - so Ronaluglydinho is waaaaaaaaaay before the time
JMR83 3 years ago
sorry, i meant he is way after the time of 1970!
JMR83 3 years ago
It's not that I'm to keen on their style of football because no matter what, the Italians are good. It's just that the whole world knows that 2006 was corrupt and when a player breathes on an Italian, they fall flat and require a stretcher. Why should I support cowards and cheaters? You simply don't support England because they are too BORING for you. There's a difference. So if England wins the next 5 World Cups but did it somewhat unentertainingly, you wouldn't be happy?
mcaris17 3 years ago
So what if I have apathy with England for being dull? SO WHAT? No I wouldn't be happy if any team wins world cups boringly - most fans especially "neutrals" like to be entertained, don't you get it?
JMR83 3 years ago
When Canada played Russia in the quarterfinal of the 2006 Turin Olympics in hockey, I cheered for Russia because not all of Russia's players were pro and wereinexperianced, the underdogs. Canada, favourite to win the gold medal, full of superstar millionaires. I cheered for Russia and was happy that they won. THERE is a good reason for not cheering for your country, not becaause the land that gave you life and freedom simply plays a sport to your distaste. You make me sick.
mcaris17 3 years ago
I MAKE YOU SICK? oh god, PMLFMAO why? Look doofus if the land of birth plays a sport not to my taste i may not bother supporting them but did i ever say i hope for them to lose and pray for their opponents? and so what, WHAT IS IT TO YOU if someone cannot be bothered to supprt their home nation for those reasons? why should it make you sick you dweeb, its none of your business
JMR83 3 years ago
Entertained? Yes, we all like to be entertained. I would love to be entertained watching two teams that I don't care about, but my team, all I care about is the WIN. So if you were the coach of a team and your player was on a breakaway, would you shout to him to hit the post just for a dramatic and entertaining scenario? We've been arging about the same thing over and over. Bottomline, no one gives a fuck what you say because a win is a win, and to beat a top class team, boring might be needed.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Bitch? you use that word a lot. are you a member of the elton john club or something? He has?
JMR83 3 years ago
Well you are wrong with assuming my mentality on Italy. We've only discussed the country of Italy in football. You felt the need to mention "Greek" habbits and such as if they were relevant to anything. Your hatred for Greeks become more and more evident. I understand though. When something shocking like Euro 2004 happens, many will be cheering loudly for the underdog that triumphed but many will also scream in anger because it was unscripted.
No, but Italy is not nearly always fair.
mcaris17 3 years ago
I like seeing underdogs do well when they play entertaining and fun and score memorable goals, eg Denmark in Euro 92 or Czech Rep in 96..... not boring like the 2004 fluke champs.
JMR83 3 years ago
Can you please tell me how exactly Euro 2004 was a fluke? If the whole tournament consisted of one game and we won, okay. But we beat PORTUGAL, TWICE. We also beat the DEFENDING CHAMPIONS FRANCE. We also beat THE FAVOURITES, CZECH REPUBLIC. You can throw in the tie with Spain too. We shut out 3 of the world's top teams and our defense was praised as one of the best ever. And boring or not, our country was written on the Henry-Delaunay Trophy!!!!!!
mcaris17 3 years ago
I wanted Czech Rep to win because they were good to watch and played some GOOD ATTRACTIVE FLOWING ATTACKING FOOTBALL until those fucking ugly greeks had to fuck it up for the neutrals. Fuck off.
JMR83 3 years ago
Well that good attractive flowing football couldn't penetrate our solid, resilient and PRAISED defense, and whenever they could manage a shot, Niko was there to save it. :-P Let me tell you something bitch, if my team was eliminated, I couldn't give a shit less what the end result is. By what you said, you obviously care more about being entertained than to see your team win. So YOU are a hardcore neutral. And the Greek team is known to be studs. :-P YOU fuck off you little whiney bitch.
mcaris17 3 years ago
bitch, bitch, bitch, you sure are a faggot aren't you? known to be studs? says who? no more than certain other teams? yes, i do care for entertainment over partisanship but SO WHAT? what is the big deal? what is it to you? is there not more to life?
JMR83 3 years ago
Played for top European clubs? Yeah, doesn't automatically make someone great, David Bellion played for Man Utd once.....
JMR83 3 years ago
I don't know too much about David Bellion, but he did play for France's U21 team, and he currently plays for a top French team. Maybe his situation with Man U was similar to Charisteas'; not getting many chances to prove himself. He only got 24 caps in 3 years...
mcaris17 3 years ago
You only seem to have memory or knowledge of greek national team goals and feats. Get out more - watch footage of the Euro 88 final for a great game played by two great teams with THE best goal in a final ever.
JMR83 3 years ago
retarded twat
JMR83 3 years ago
You are also stupid for questioning why someone would not take passion and pride in a championship. SO FUCKING WHAT? Live and let live, everyone has different ideas and interests and not everybody is massively into sports.
JMR83 3 years ago
There we have it: you aren't 'massively' into sports. Then why the hell are we having this conversation, my friend? You make fun of Greece for playing "unentertaining", so that must mean your philososhy is that is everyone was and should be like you, then every single Greek would not give a shit nor celebrate our Euro Cup triumph because we won it "unentertainingly". YOU ARE FUCKED UP. And to not care for your country simply because they don't play to your tase, you are pathetic.
mcaris17 3 years ago
YOU are pathetic and FUCKED UP as well trying to think it is unusual for some people to be apathetic about sports sometimes, FFS there is more to life! As Samuel Johnson said "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" or as Oscar Wilde put it "Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious".
Who are you to get miffed at people showing not enough passion or patriotism? What's it to you, twatface?
JMR83 3 years ago
I like to look at the deeper and philosophical side of things, much wider than the simple (eg. overt jingoism taking precedence)
JMR83 3 years ago
Well you moron, if England was playing Germany, and you cheered for Germany, is that logical? If you had no roots from Germany, no German friends, nothing even remote German in your life, yet you cheer for them solely because you like how they play, that's normal to you? If England was known for cheating or Germany plays with such heart and passion, okay. But just because your country plays too dull for your liking?! WOW! Infact, I bet you DID cheer for Germany this past Wednesday...
mcaris17 3 years ago
I didn't even pay attention to this weeks friendlies so either way I wasn't bothered. In fact I was impressed with and pleased with England, Fabio is working some magic like Sven did at times.
And SO WHAT if some people are apathetic towards patriotism at some occasions? None of your business whether or not that should be considered peculiar.
JMR83 3 years ago
What does it matter if I was even born in 2000? I know a lot about world history that occured thousands of years ago. I wasn't alive during that time, so why can I know about history and not about soccer even if it occured before I was born or before I followed it? Idiot...
No, no, the goal he scored against France was seriously the goal of the tournament. It was said. Just look it up on Youtube for a reminder. And he also scored thw inning goal in the final against Portugal.
mcaris17 3 years ago
So what? Who called the france goal the "goal of the tournament"? probably some biased greek fan, all in your imagination. It was just a simple header. For a real "goal of the tournament" for 2004, not many spring to mind but Maniche (Por vs Hol) or Larsson's diving header against Bulgaria,
JMR83 3 years ago
I may only be 25, but that doesn't stop me from taking interest in sporting events from before I was born. I can say that in football, Brazil 1970 and Hungary 1954 were something special. Idiot.
JMR83 3 years ago
Also, that video you sent me was from TSN, the sports leader in Canada, where I'm from. Needless to say, football is not the specialty. There is only one true football analyst on TSN, Dick Howard. Everyone else that covered Euro 2004 and 2008 were regular TSN analysts that didn't know what they were talking about.
And you're a fucking hypocrite. You say that I don't know football before I was born (without proof) and then say that you do before you were born! So why can't I? FOOL!
mcaris17 3 years ago
Didn't know what they are talking about? Everyone in public who talks football or experts on the game and media talk about spectacular and clever goals as the great goals, y'know like Maradona's second against england in 86 or Van Basten in 88 or even Philip Lahm's opening goal at the world cup 06. And I have puh-lenty of knowledge of football from before I was born, I read and researched since I was a teen. And if Crapisteas scored the goal of the tournament GIVE ME A LINK FOR PROOF
JMR83 3 years ago
You obviously call the France header the best goal coz u r biased FUCKING FOOL. Euro 2004 may not have been the greatest event but what about that blinder Maniche scored for POR against the dutch, or Zidane's free kick or Ibra's back-lob.
When people discuss the "goals of a tournament", ordinary headers barely feature. We look for long distance power shots, mazy dribbles, super volleys, unique bits of skill, cheeky chips (Davor Suker, anyone?).
JMR83 3 years ago
If I was biased, I would say that every Greece goal was the best and so on. I only mentioned the France goal, because Zagorakis deked the shit out of the French defender and gave a once-in-a-blue moon perfect cross right to Angelos' head and it went straight to the top corner like a bullet. Nothing ordinary there. His goal against Portugal was more like an ordinary header, and it won us Euro 2004!!!
mcaris17 3 years ago
Both were still plain ordinary goals. Header hardly feature when people talk about great goals.
I took exception to you saying "yeah seriously, that goal was voted best goal in the tournament" If so, give me a link or somesuch for proof
JMR83 3 years ago
This has been flagged as spam show

And to call me an idiot just for saying you should learn more about sport history. It doesn't matter whether the subject matter is sport, literature, politics, music, film, leaders, world events, train timetables or whatever it is always important to know as much background knowledge as possible
JMR83 3 years ago
That's right, but why do you constantly assume I know nothing about football? Our discussion really only went as far back as Euro 2004. Also, you said the word 'sport'? Well my friend, coming from North America, I probably know a lot more about sports than you because in England, the sports played is probably 90% football. Do you anything about hockey? Did you know it was an Englishman who created the Stanley Cup, the trophy for the NHL championship? Lord Stanley, my friend.
mcaris17 3 years ago
I'm not that big on hockey but I love to follow tennis, golf, basketball (sometimes) but personally love F1 and MotoGP best.
JMR83 3 years ago
I am afraid that you prob are right 90% of sport coverage is football, and too much of it can get boring and take the fun away.
JMR83 3 years ago
Where is Chaisteas now? Playing for his country and and scoring goals that will take us into the World Cup. :-P 4 goals in 4 games so far.
mcaris17 3 years ago
JMR83 3 years ago
Hey loser dorkface, looks like I shut you up. Face it, ugly Crapisteas may have scored 3 Euro04 goals but what he doing now? plodding along in the 2.Bundesliga. Top class, makes Thierry Henry look shite? Yes, even if I do take exception to boring ugly Greece's win I know full well lots of other think likewise and besides you discredit Italy in 06 so that's equal. And there are NO non-greeks i have found that think Crapisteas is top class.
JMR83 3 years ago
Also, he still has 4 goals in WCQ!!
mcaris17 3 years ago
4 goals in WCQ against the powerhouses like Moldova and Luxembourg. I am so impressed.
JMR83 3 years ago
I may be an arrogant Brit-Kike but you are also an arrogant Greek.
Yeah he is in the German 2nd Division and Nurnberg are around 13th and closer to the 3Liga. I am so impressed, whoo. Face it, Crapisteas sucks and Greece are nothing special, Fluke 2004 is irrelevant so SHUT THE FUCK UP ASSHOLE.
JMR83 3 years ago
Their stadium has a capacity of around 46,000, and in my book, that's pretty damn awesome. A team wouln't have a large capacity like that if they were shit. Okay, so as of late, they haven't been doing too well, but that club has a very long and deep history. Only recently has it been in the second division.
Like always, if you want to see Charisteas at his best, watch a game of Greece. I'm sure in England, you can catch all internationals for free, no?
mcaris17 3 years ago
Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Derby County all have stadia of minimum 30,000 capacity (and 3 of them used in euro 96) and also long and deep and colourful histories like Nurnberg but look where they are now and how well they are doing. They get large capacities but are doing shite at the mo.
Crapisteas is doing poop and you know it, if he is so great he should be playing for and scoring consistently in one of the 4 biggest euro leagues.
JMR83 3 years ago
Charisteas is currently injured, so that's why he's not scoring goals at the moment. And he did play in the German 1st division and the Dutch 1st division, and did score goals when counted upon.
His team is in Division 2 right now, yes, and not doing so well, yes. But like you said, it is a pretty decent storied franchise and it will get out of it. Here in North America, we don't have Division 1, 2, 3 etc. for sports. It's one league, and a bad team can win the title the next year.
mcaris17 3 years ago
"Charisteas is currently injured, so that's why he's not scoring goals at the moment. And he did play in the German 1st division and the Dutch 1st division, and did score goals when counted upon"
He wasn't too injury hit last year when Nurnberg were relegated? He has scored some goals in the Bundesliga when counted on but compared to most, nothing that ranks as special.
JMR83 3 years ago
hey weener your arguments to convince me that ugly cuntisteas is a class striker have failed to convince. if he was so good he would be at top clubs and int heir first team consistently rather than be a drifting journeyman. period. end of.
euro 2004? well, ever heard the concept of the one tournament wonder(s)? like Toto Schillachi? same category.
JMR83 3 years ago
Of course they haven't because some people cannot be cured of the unfortunate disease of ignorance. But at least I had myself in your mind, and you felt the need to contently reply with anger and frustration, so I did infact make you remember the name Charisteas and what he can do.
He did play for top clubs and plays for one which he will never be traded from, Greece.
mcaris17 3 years ago
played for bremen and ajax and..... got ditched
JMR83 3 years ago
And why do you go defending this ugly spastic so much against my insults and "ignorance" as you repeatedly call it?
The national teams of Nigeria, Iceland and Australia may have achieved very litle but most people will agree with me that Yakubu, Gudjohnsen and Viduka are way better strikers, especially when you look at their scoring rates in the Premier League and Europe competitions. Unlike the ugly toadface spastic here.
JMR83 3 years ago
Why do I defend him? Why should I not defend him, especially against an ignorant fool like yourself. He gave our country glory. He's a phenomenal player and everytime an English commentator says his name, they always follow it with "the hero of 2004." He hasn't had that much luck with playing time for clubs so far, but when he plays, he plays. Those strikers you've mentioned don't have the honour that Angelos has, which includes a major tournament goal winner. And he's a stud, ask many people:-P
mcaris17 3 years ago
"everytime an English commentator says his name, they always follow it with "the hero of 2004."
Not heard the hero word used in the UK or Ireland for that matter.
So, the ugly troll is better than some players who never won a major international honour? So he is better than Johan Cruyff, then? or Puskas? or even Ryan Giggs?
JMR83 3 years ago
When did I ever say he was better than anyone? I never compared him to anyone. I am simply stating facts against what pathetic things you say. The men you named are very good, no doubt, but they're irrelevant. All I'm doing is stating facts for how Charisteas is an excellent player when you mindlessly say he's shit or whatever. And repeatedly saying he's ugly is useless and it's again just your opinion. Many people say he's good looking.
mcaris17 3 years ago
many say he's good looking? proof? link? other than the retard who made this video?
look, he's mediocre, if he was so amazing he would be a consistent top scorer in the major european leagues, but he hardly got into double figures during any single bundesliga season. this is boring me
JMR83 3 years ago
Well in that case, where's your proof in saying that he's ugly?
Enough talking about his performances in club competition. I've already stated number for you but it didn't change anything. We can end this topic like this: watch a game of Greece, and you'll see his real overall.
And if this is boring you then why do you keep coming back?
mcaris17 3 years ago
I don't care, let's end it there he is a JOURNEYMAN STRIKER and scoring in euro04 won't change that. He is same calibre as Peter Crouch or Emile Heskey - which isn't too bad, mind you. ;) Same for some of those average players like the koreans and others who shone in the freak world cup of 2002, they soon reverted back to averageness, SALIF DIAO was one of the big stars of that world cup - he's been a class act since, eh?
JMR83 3 years ago
And where's your proof in saying this ugly toad is a studmuffin? Don't mention that some friends of yours may have said so because I could use that argument against that - and it is not just Brits who have said they think his looks are equal to ronaldinho
JMR83 3 years ago
What pathetic things i say? bollocks to winning a euro, so did Dieter Eilts - one tournament wonder, eh?
JMR83 3 years ago
you know fuckin sod all
JMR83 3 years ago
you are no less ignorant than I - anything to praise this ugly spastic cuntisteas and to disown italy winning world cups
JMR83 3 years ago
Well you mother fucker, my praise of this man went no further than simply rightfully defending him against the pathetically meaningless attacks attempted on him. You say he's horrible, and I simply tell you that he scored 3 goals for the champion team in Euro 2004, including the winner.
And how often did I mention Italy in our entire argument?! Twice? 3 times? If anything, yet again, I brought up Italy because you mentioned them first. And I didn't say anything about their other World Cups.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Oh stop calling me an ignorant fool just for taking the piss out of a mediocre fluke striker. i get it, he scored three goals in one euro cup - so? Schillachi was world cup top scorer in 1990, what had he acheived before or after? Sod all.
And meaningless attacks? You've never been to a soccer game in Europe and heard the sort of insults that are commonplace?
JMR83 3 years ago
Well I'm sure fans at a football game in Europe say a lot to each other and shout things dorected toward the game or a player, but I bet they don't consist of ignorance or false things. For example, if someone gets tripped and there's no call, I'm sure they'll be "FUCKING ASSHOLE PIECE OF SHIT!" or whatever, but not "Oh that Charisteas is so shit even though he scored 3 goals in Euro 2004 including the winner and has over 20 international goals." :-P
mcaris17 3 years ago
You still have no idea - a friend invited me to a few arsenal games, both premier league and euro champ league and you have no idea which players got insulted and how - irrespective of what they have won. eg, was at arsenal vs hamburg and also arsneal vs fenerbahce (who a lot of turkey's euro 2008 semifinalists were at, as well as Dani Guiza, a EURO WINNER with spain) - yet almost every opposing player was greeted with "who the fuck are you?" even van der vaart at HSV. Guess that's ignorance?
JMR83 3 years ago
I wasn't there, so I can't judge if they were joking, drunk, being idiots, heavily supporting their team by saying anything that comes into their head to throw at the opposing team, or maybe they weren't really football fans; they're just a bunch of fuckin' hooligans who had enough money to buy tickets and fight. England has more of that than any other country.
Whatever. It's irrelevant anyway.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Not just in England, I hear of such abuse from fans to opponents sometimes even of a racial nature around Europe be it in italy or spain or germany or even greece.

Within the next 4 or 5 Euro tournaments, if we fail to make any spark at all, then we can say it was a one tournament wonder. But you're forgetting that it was only one Euro ago, and it wasn't long ago that every commentator was referring to us as the "Defending Champs".
mcaris17 3 years ago
Denmark 1992?
JMR83 3 years ago
Yes, Denmark seems to be a one tournament wonder. It was 4 Euros ago. They didn't have to win it again to not make it a one tournament wonder, but create some spark. If we make it to the quarter-final or the semi-final within the next 1 or 2 Euros, then that in itself does not make Euro 2004 a one tournament wonder. Same goas for the World Cup. If we make something happen in 2010, Euro 2004 isn't a "once in a lifelife" anymore is it?
mcaris17 3 years ago
Your arguments are plain shit too and do nothing to convince. 2004 was a one-off and you know it. Malakas, you didn't qualify for the world cup and lost every game at euro and Crapisteas I still wait for him to shine in one of the top euro leagues. I heard rumours of Bolton or Stoke signing him, come to think he'd be perfect for their dull and ugly negative football! I'd laugh if he fails to make an impact - time may tell.
JMR83 3 years ago
Yeah, we didn't qualify for World Cup 2006. Shit happens. We were 2 points behind the second place team, that's how close we came. Our biggest fuck up there was our first game, when we lost to Albania in Athens. Albania is shit, but they scored 2 goals in the opening 10 minutes. We were only one month fresh of our Euro triumph and weren't ready. We were still celebrating. Big mistake, but it won't happen again. We gained experiance.
mcaris17 3 years ago
excuses, excuses
JMR83 3 years ago
Yes, we lost all our 3 group stage games at Euro 2008 but again, shit happens. We weren't lucky. Our worst game was our opener, Sweden. It was dead level until Kyriakos, like an idiot, left Ibrahimovic open, and was also the cause for the second goal. If there's anyone I feel bad for, it was poor Nikopolidis. In the Russia game, we came VERY close. For fuck sake, we even had a CLEAR goal disallowed. Also, don't forget that we had 2 of the 4 semi-final teams. It was bad luck.
mcaris17 3 years ago
Just like 2004 was lucky.
And if you want to see what a great goal looks like, how about Ibra's goal for Sweden?
JMR83 3 years ago
2004 was not lucky. You can be lucky for one game, or even two. But for SIX, to call EACH game luck? So Greece played like shit the whole Euro Cup and won simply because the opponents, who were of the highest quality in the world, played the worst games ever, right? That must be why we won...
And the Premiership is still the highest club lever football in the world.
And why do you keep saying that you shut me up when I don't reply right a way? I don't say that when you take a month...
mcaris17 3 years ago
Undeserved was the word rather than lucky. And one of those six games included a loss against Russia and a draw with an under-par Spanish side. You won by playing well...... but more fecking boring than watching paint dry. A very bad advertisement for football by most people's stretch.
JMR83 3 years ago
I'll be honest, we were lucky with one thing. Us and Spain each had 4 points and the same goal differential. I think we went through because we scored a goal in each game and Spain was shut out in one. So there, yes we were lucky. But then in the medal rounds, nothing was lucky nor undeserved. We shut out 3 of the top teams in the world. We lost one game in all but that's how it works; you can lose one and still win the Euro Cup!
And it's a great advertisement because everyone love underdogs.
