  • were closer to men on mars than robot miners. mining is no good unless those robots can also build shuttles to send back the ore. A drill and a shovel means holes on mars nothing more. Alo theyre not more likely to die than not. AND theyre going for 6 months, not to gawk but to do the kind of geology that might SOMEDAY allow mining. Havent you heard of prospectors? lastly everyone in nasa realised 20 years ago that humans SEE things better than machines. Try to think before you speak.

  • u r a frekin balding idiot and i will waste no mor time here

  • It makes no sense to send humans to Mars right now. Send robotic miners, followed by robotic construction workers. That kind of tech would benefit everyone on Earth as well as make it comfortable for those who will travel to Mars in a few generations from now.

  • @sparkloweb umm ok . wait a sec ... there are no robotic miners and construction workers right now . did you mean we should just wait until we have developed robots as capable as humans? why didn't you just wait to post your comment with the mind reading computer technology instead of wasting so much time and energy typing it now?

  • @WalterWalkie The first robotic mining mission can be done sooner than the first manned mission. NASA already sends robots to do microscopy and spectroscopy on Mars. Adding a shovel and drill (1st gen. miner) can't be much harder. ;-) The research program would benefit the 99.9999% of us still stuck on Earth and literally pave the way for more practical manned missions in the future. It's more productive than sending a couple of humans to gawk and likely die.

  • @HitfulVids It seems like you and I have a different idea of what a robotic mining mission would be. It could be much easier to do a simple sample return mission using robots but I was imagining a more robust program drilling many deep core samples over as wide an area as possible. You could possibly be right if our goal was to understand some very specific aspect of mars geology but I think since our overall goal must be to learn to work and live off planet we've got to go there and learn.

  • It's a simulation in Utah... Of course it's fake.. They didn't really go to mars... But it's still really cool... I think it would be fun to do something like that.

  • This is all fake all they do is find a really good spo and film like their in space or they just have really good graphics and fake it all out

  • @guy56ify And how do you know this?

  • Vintage Geek Watch. I love Dave

  • Great documentary! Hopefully they can make the habitat a little more space station-like. I could see how they could use this in future Mars explorations. Thank you for sharing this experience. BS2

  • not much of a simulation...

  • i will try my hardest to do everything it takes to be teh first person to mars no matter what

  • so long

  • gee David your humble too

  • Some people believe in a god and in evolution. Their god is an impersonal god. People can and do believe whatever suits them and they act according to their morals, regardless of religion.

If you say the world you see boggles the limits of probability and mathematics, you clearly demonstrate that you do not understand evolution or geological processes at all.

And there is no such thing as intelligent design. If there were an intelligent design, there would be no disease and no death.

  • @luiza2166 The only thing that is clear about your word are that you have not studied God or his word. What is also clear is that your hatred has blinded you to his truth. That is regretable. You have come to illogical conclusions based on ignorance or superficial study. Put aside your hatred and as a scientist study the Word of the one who created the universe. It is only logical and many, MANY scientists have taken that path to their benefit.

  • @exenrontexas Science-oriented people have better things to do than to waste time with useless feelings such as hatred. I would rather admire and learn more about nature and the universe. Looking for things to hate and kill is more typical of religious people.

  • @luiza2166

hate and violence are typical of ignorance and delusion regardless of relative technological sophistication

  • @mavayu niggerz?!

  • @powerdbycomedy

    This gets three thumbs up?

i don't get it. is that a meme?

  • it should be possible to dump some unmanned rockeds loaded with materials on mars. that seems way more logic then taking it with you in a vessel created for human transportation

  • This is very interesting. I have to say though, a lot of their assumptions seem bizarre and optimistic. How many feet of pressure tubes did they have? I don't think that's realistic in the slightest considering the weight we'll actually be able to move over there.

But all this is just reminding me just how impossible (or uncomfortable) a mission to Mars would be. The reality is that this isn't a jump that makes any sense. We should go AFTER we matured our presence in the local vicinity.

  • Very interesting.

  • It is extremely difficult to justify a manned mission to Mars or anywhere else especially since having a human being aboard always dramatically increases costs. Nearly ALL of the scientific goals can be achieved with UNMANNED space investigations. Never forget that manned space flight is driven by PRIDE and pride is a sin.

  • @exenrontexas There is no place for religion in science.

  • @luiza2166 My college PHYSICS professor would disagree since he told me that he got into science to discover how God put the universe together. Another is Michael Faraday, the man who you can thank for discovering how God put together electricity.

  • @exenrontexas It is absolutely beyond my understanding how anybody who has some knowledge of science can still believe in the existance of some god. What kind of a physics teacher believes in supernatural phenomena? He has no business in physics, tell him to go teach theology.

  • @luiza2166 His passion to teach his students and his desire to understand how God put the universe together led him to be placed as the head of the department at this state university with about 50,000 students. The belief in God has led many men of science in the passion of discovery. I sure sounds like you are prejudiced.

  • @exenrontexas It´s not a matter of prejudice. Science is about believing only in things that can be proved by science. I do not see how a good scientist can let him/herself believe in things that science does not prove. That makes him or her a bad scientist. What kind of god does your physics teacher believe in?

  • @exenrontexas The god that created the universe and left us to our fate or the one that observes everything we do? In other words, does your teacher believe that the earth is 5 billion years old or 10 thousand years old? Does he believe in creation or evolution? Science is simply not compatible with religion. One is either a scientist or a theist. You can't be both. You cannot be "biased" by religion when you search for answers.

  • @luiza2166 Admit it, you are just as guilty as the creationists in NOT reading and studying the Bible. The Bible says that a thousand years is like a day to God. Many Christians believe that God exists in all time which is yesterday, today and tomorrow. Even on his death bed, Darwin admitted that his was just a THEORY. Science IS the study of how God put the universe together.

  • @exenrontexas I would bet you have not read the bible in full or you would know that the god described in the bible is a complete lunatic, not at all like the god worshipped today by Christians. Darwin's theory continues to be called a theory but there is overwhelming evidence that evolution is a fact. Yet there is no evidence at all that any kind of superior being, especially one that gives a single penny about us, exists.

  • @luiza2166 The Bible is a complex document to be understood at many levels. I disagree with your simplistic, knee jerk assessment and a billion other humans would agree with me. I suggest you misinterpretations have led to your misunderstanding of the message of the Bible. But back to science. Did you look up Michael Faraday? Or is your understanding of the history of science as limited as your understanding of the Bible?

  • @exenrontexas The bible is a document written by many people over a long period of time with innumerous contradictions and depicts an insane supernatural being many call god. Calling it a complex document to be understood at many levels is trying to hide its inconsistency. It works for the dumb, but not for the smart. Michael Faraday, like many of his time, were wise enough to "believe in god" to avoid being killed by the despicable Catholic church.

  • @luiza2166 It is wholly inappropriate and unwise to cast the Catholic church as the representation of God or the church in general. Even they might agree with that, today. It is UNscientific to deny the power that the Word of God has on mankind and just as unscientific to allow ONLY ONE group of men to tell the people what the Bible says. Since man is flawed, according to the Bible, then it is flawed to accept the way one group interprets the Bible without scrutiny...as the Bible sa y to do.

  • @exenrontexas Newton, the greatest genious of all time, too, was very religious. Good for him, the chuch left him be. Nowadays those who love science do not have to fear the Vatican any more. We are getting carried away here. If you want to believe the bible or god, go ahead, it's none of my business. I only said and repeat that there is no place for religion in science.

  • @luiza2166 I only cite the truth that there are several scientists of merit whose motivation was the understand the nature of God and how he created the universe. IF you are truly scientifically motivated and have the mind of a scientist, you will not close your mind off to that truth, otherwise your motives are suspect. I suggest you attend a Bible study from a Bible based church is you are curious.

  • @exenrontexas What is the point of understanding how the universe was created if you are going to deny what you find? Darwin discovered evolution, thousands of scientists have confirmed that evolution is fact, and almost all religious people on earth deny it. So why do you guys even bother with science? Leave science to those who respect and accept it.

  • @luiza2166 Darwin made an enormous leap, or rather those who used his ideas as a basis for denying the existence of God which they wanted to do anyhow. Perhaps because it negates the accountability for their actions? They are many Christians who promote the scientific concept of intelligent design. To think that this world could have come into creation all on it's own and be the ONLY instance known in the entire universe, boggles the limits of probablity and mathematics.

  • @exenrontexas greed is also a sin but we all know greed is good, I think pride fits into the same category, i mean , i hope you're proud of the point you just made about pride and how it relates to human spacefilght

  • @WalterWalkie Pride is one of those words that has various meanings. When I refer to pride I am speaking of hubris when a person, group or nation says "Look what I have done that makes me so great". I believe that most if not all beneficial success comes in part or totally with the help of God. So in another sense I am actually saying that I am thankful for God grace and help and power. Which are you refering to?

BTW: I have seen enormous destructive effects of greed especially with pride

  • @exenrontexas haha yes from your posting name I bet you know something about greed and pride .. what I would say is I wish I could be more proud to be a human being , I hope everyone keeps improving so we can look back and be proud of what we've done . planetary pride!

  • @WalterWalkie Well having cleared that up we can move on to something we could all be "proud" about in the thankful sense and that is to make this planet more resourceful, more responsible and perhaps more sustainable. We all know what the issues are such as energy self sufficiency, population stabilization to sustainable levels and other resource conservation. Do that FIRST before sending man into very expensive space travel and use unmanned space exploration to answer science questions.

  • waste of time

  • thats right !

  • Very Good, Thank god!
