  • I love hip hop and death metal and postmodern experimental nonsense.

    But I also love bluegrass.

  • Ricky Skaggs seems to always get the best talent in his bands. I would give anything to play the Banjo like Jimmy Mills or the fiddle like Andy Leftwich

  • good singer i love 90% of all his songs

  • Andy Leftwich is so glorious!! His playing is so clean and creative... FLAWLESS!!!

  • I went to the Billy Graham Revival in the old RCA Dome in Indianapolis in 1999 to hear Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, who were touring with Rev. Graham at the time. They sang both of these tunes plus "Soldier of the Cross", all beautifully done. I think Ricky Skaggs is the single best musician in all of contemporary bluegrass, and that's saying a lot!

  • What a banjo picker Ricky has!

  • @HolyMoly7777 that's Smilin' Jim Mills!!!!

  • so like veryone else two amazing songs... now i play the guitar and the banjo and i just want to say to anyone who atleast wants to learn the first song it sounds and looks hard but if you have a good ear it is pretty easy for the left hand. but awesome songs i am trying to get my church band to play them... hopefully we will

  • I love Bluegrass and they are very good!

  • "Are you afraid"is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard, ever.Ever

  • good singing and madolin

  • Andy Leftwich has done an outstanding job replacing the legendary Bobby Hicks on fiddle.

  • agreed. Andy is a monster!

  • Ricky Skaggs has a great ear for harmony, and these two songs are fantastic, both musically and lyrically. It's so good to hear a well-crafted song with the faith to back it, and musicianship of this quality. The presenter's mullet is laughably terrible, and all the more so as everybody else around him has a normal haircut.

  • That presenter is Marty Stuart. Most people overlook the mullet due to the fact that he is one of the most incredible musicians out there.

  • @jteran29 Yes, Marty Stuart is a truly great musician. He is also one of the few men cute enough to be able to pull off a mullet. ;-)

  • @jteran29 RICKY FORGOT MORE THAN MARTY STUART WILL EVER KNOW.

  • @watchingtelly I'm with jteran. Most people overlook the do because Marty is an incredible instrumentalist. be careful of how you speak of other people for you too have been treated this way by others (i can almost guarantee it). we've all had that happen to us so remember "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

  • @watchingtelly How do you know Ricky Skaggs but not Marty Stuart???

  • @watchingtelly What are you talking about? That mullet made Marty Stuart, not to mention his great talent.

  • gyhjklf, Get sirius satalite radio and you can get all the bluegrass your ears can handle.

  • Thanks for heads up.

  • Brilliant arranging, beautiful harmonies, perfect bluegrass groove. Thanks for posting.

  • Incredible arranging, bullet-proof harmonies and a wicked bluegrass groove- vintage Skaggs. This music makes me want to start going to church again. Thanks for posting !

  • i love both those songs, who should I listen too when it comes to bluegrass? I dont have any radio stations with bluegrass, in KC area, that I know of.

  • o my gooood:| i m from romania and i ....omg i just love them :X oomg i m fascinated:)):X

  • Congrats to Ricky & Kentucky Thunder on their recent Grammy! I had the privilege to see them play Jan. 25 2009 and they were phenomenal! Nothing but love for them :)

  • If there is a god, he gotta love this stuff!

  • Love ya Ricky!

  • Did anyone notice Andy Leftwich's fiddle playing? That guy is a God!! Beautiful, beautiful sounds from his instrument!!!

  • That second song gave me goose bumps.

  • Wonderful arrangement I've always like this song! Great job on the harmonies Darrin. Oh wait were talking about Darrin Vincent he's always great!!!

  • Guess you're talkin about "halfway home café"

  • Yes. What happened to Halfway Home Cafe? That was a wonderful post.

  • great song wat to go ricky

  • WHAT A GREAT SONG THANKS FOR POSTING IT

  • Who wrote these songs?

  • Ricky I believe. Do you Believe?

  • Ricky didn't write either one of these songs.. the first song "Halelujah I'm Ready To Go" has been around since Bill Monroe... and Bob Dylan even performed it. And the other song "Are You Afraid To Die" was written by Ira Louvin after he saw Billy Graham

  • Hallelujah, I'm Ready To Go was written by Ralph Stanley, and, as bluegrassguy says, Are You Afraid To Die was written by Ira Louvin. These are two of my all-time favorites by one of my all-time favorites.

  • actualy Im ready to go was written by ralph stanley

  • He's awesome!

  • yep

  • That is GREAT

  • Are you afraid to die? How much clearer can it get? Think long and deep to this question.

  • GO LIL RICKY!!!!!

  • this song is the questions???.......

  • i know Jimmy!

  • I know Jim Mills!

  • Gotta love Jim Mills!
