Nope, Latin and Spanish are 2 totally different languages. Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese all are Languages that derived from Latin; these languages are called Romance Languages, that is why they all have similar sound and have a lot of cognates in common. It's OK if you didn't know that. I guess we do learn something new everyday Hahaha =D
