What annoys me are the folks on Yelp who rate a small business SOLELY on their service because they may have just had a bad experience for whatever reason.
I realize that, BoY, and what you say makes sense.
At the same time, those three people who reviewed Bob's business weren't Yelpers which, when you think about it, actually makes a pretty strong statement. They liked him so much that they went to the pains of opening a Yelp account just so could give Bob the kudos he deserves.
They aren't professional reviewers, which many of those who have posted multiple reviews could be.
Yelp filtered 75% of the 5-star reviews about Image Perfection, a small big-screen TV repair business in the SF Bay Area. As someone who helps the owner with the admin facets of the biz, I know the reviews were written by real customers - I spoke with them when they called about the problems their TV's were having. Yelp does an injustice to this and other small-business owners whose clientele have nothing but good things to say about them. It also does a disservice to those who read its reviews.
@jmacmedia : Image Perfection has a 5 star rating on Yelp. Yelp only filtered out (3) 5 star reviews because each of them were from reviewers with no other reviews, no photos, and no friends on the site, those kind of reviews come across as fake and shady. A LOT of business owners attempt to pump up their rating on Yelp by creating profiles and just give themselves 5 stars (and sometimes only have another review giving their competition 1 star reviews).
@BrooklynPhotoGuy I hear you and know that what you are saying is logical. What I'm getting about Yelp is it is trying to provide a service in an environment where there is so much potential for dishonesty. Yelp seems to be doing the best it can, especially given the fact that their filter is automated. Of course, having humans filter the reviews would be cost prohibitive.
To dhad1976 2 weeks ago...It seems to me that you are uneducated about Yelp and have done nothing more than create an opinion about the company. Maybe you should start asking the correct questions...Why are my good reviews being deleted/disappearing? Or simply watch the video on YouTube...

Yelp is a Very Bad Unethical Company. They Delete Good Reviews and extort businesses to get them to pay Yelp for advertising. Don't Yelp!
