I tried doing these your method last week. They were good and didn't hurt my elbows, just felt awkward. 185 felt like a load so I gotta do them more to get better.
Takes a little to get used to..."The Tracking" of the elbows is key. This method was carried over from what Westsiders do w/ their lying DB tricep extensions. It has helped me to save the elbows and still target the triceps. Thanks for the support Big Man.
Thanks Bro!!!! No, we rotate these in. We don't do them all the time. I find it important to keep wrist and hands in line with the elbows. Too close causes issues. I also "track" the elbows on these in order to save the elbows.

It looks kind of like a close-grip BP with a "laying down" lat pull down added in.
When I do these I find an EZ bar is much easier on my wrists and elbows.
If I were to try this at this weight I could really show you a skull crusher. Complete with brains and everything!
