@andyrooney11: Where on earth did you get the idea that God kills more people than the Devil? Where did you get the idea that God is "sadistic" and "full of petty human emotions"? God does not enjoy killing people! He doesn't sit around all day and say "Hmm...that guy is having fun...NO!!!" and step on them. He ENCOURAGES joy, happiness, and life. Not the taking of it.
2Ti 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
2Ti 3:11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
2Ti 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
2Ti 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
I just have to look for the light? You sound like another mindless follower saying exactly what he has been taught to think. I read the Bible many times over...God kills more than the Devil and if anything I'd say that God is a sadistic figure full of petty human emotions so good being used as a metaphor for God is just...wrong. I still enjoy reading the stories in the Bible just like I would enjoy reading Homer's Odyssey but when someone says that it's real then it becomes annoying
@andyrooney11 Seriously man? God is sadistic, and full of petty emotions? There are way more references in the bible of God being kind hearted, forgiveful, and full of love. Yeah, he killed people, but if a person kills another in self-defense, or to save the life of some one else, does that make them evil, or sadistic? You also conveniently forget that he sent his son to die for us, forgiving us of our sins. Deny him as your Lord and savior, but ill pray for you buddy.
About 5 minutes ago I finished reading Saint and I will never waste my time reading any trash by this author. I first thought this was a great science fiction book but then when I got to the 200s pages they started talking about God...what a damn waste. John Grisham is one of my favorite authors and he's a fervent Baptist but he keeps his religion out of the books...damn I'm just really pissed off that I wasted all this time reading Saint. I kept up hope that the ending would change things. Nope
He is not necessarily a horror author, not to the extent of Stephen King. But he does have a few scary books out there. I have read most of Ted Dekkers books, and no he does not shove Christianity 'down your throat' but he does present it in every book I have read. Most of his books are about darkness, and the light (God) shining through it. He is definitely worth it! If you have ever read any Frank Peretti, he is much like him..
So let me get this straight...He's a Christian horror writer? Isn't that an oxymoron? Not really if you really think about it, they're some pretty horrific scenarios in The Bible... Neither here nor there, this is the first time I heard of Mr. Dekker and before I go out to purchase some of his work, am I going to have religious subtext shoved down my throat, because no matter how horrific his horror is I do not want to be reminded of The Christian movement. Is this guy worth it?
I don't know my favourite book, but Billy is probably my favourite character, especially in Green. I love Ted Dekker; once I pick up one of his books, I can't put it down.
:D ted is awsome!!!!but when i watched his book house's movie the story sank for me -_- the movie ruined a perfect book but his OTHER books are still amazing
Well, I love that Ted embraces Christianity the way it should be.
He is not ashamed of it and he shows evil for what it is. But he does not criticize people constantly and shove "religion" down their throats. He speaks about love, just the way Jesus did, and I commend Him for that. That is what more Christians should do. As a Christian, I understand how judgmental we can be sometimes. It's so sad, because Christ always showed love and compassion. Ted is such an inspiration and amazing writer
I'm an atheist, i don't force my views on anyone, and i don't like it when religious freaks try to force theirs on me...that being said...Dekker is an awesome writer and i know he touches on good vs evil in his books and that theirs christian views under the surface..but it pisses me off that he's labeled a christian writer...he's just a great writer and entertaining no matter what your views are
It seems to me that you're every bit as judgemental as the Christians you hate, probably without proper justification. And it shouldn't make you angry that Dekker is labeled a Christian writer. He's a Christian, you're just going to have to deal with that. And his Christian views are more than just under the surface. Just read When Heaven Weeps, or any of the Circle Triology. Ted's a Christian, and more than just subliminally.
there are not christian views "under the surface", they are on top of, in, and all around it. He's labeled a christian writer because that is exactly what he is.
I find Dekker to be a slightly sanitized Stephen King. Read about half and one of his books and ended up putting it down. He is a talented author, but I just found his book of what I can only describe as a "Christianized Horror" book to be repulsive. To each their own, I suppose.
i though that white was the best book out of the circle trilogy, mostly cuz i cried my eye balls out lol. i also liked adam, but sinner wasnt his greatest. but that could be also cuz i havent read chosen and infidel and so on...
i've read Black, RED, White, seen Thr3e, read Chosen, Infidel, Renegade, Chaos, Showdown, Saint, Skin , and working on Sinner. Black is the best!!!!!!!
I love him <3

The problem is that people label him in the first place. He is a Christian, and he is a writer. And a very talented one at that!! :)

If he has to be labeled let him first be labeled as a Christian, and lover of God(or Elyon, whichever he wants :)
