@Kayakwinds I don't think it would work without the chickpea flour. That would be like making pakoras without the chickpea flower. Not so appetizing. However I presume the recipe can work with similar vegetables in the same family like cabbage or cauliflower.
I'm a great fan of your videos! Is this unique coating used on other vegetables? I have everything but the chickpea flour. Have you even tried regular wheat flour or whole wheat flour? I only ask since I don't have chickpea flour on hand. Thank you for your excellent work; please keep the videos coming!
We loved our video recipes, but for already a little while they have been less interesting... Did I say boring? Well, we miss the fish, meat, spicy and curried stuff...
@zazay1710 : We try and show a variety of dishes and cater to all kinds of tastes :) Hopefully there will be one up your alley real soon, stay tuned ;)
I love this! Must try it. There are lots of "western" vegetables that can be made Indian style, for instance I use brussels sprouts all the time as a substitute for cauliflower, in my aloo/bandagobi bhajis, it tastes super.
I love your show, you ladies are wonderful! Keep up the fab work.
its not just kids who have a hard time with broccoli!!! this recipe may make things easier for me as well and i was a kid like a million years ago :)..... looks very edible and still healthy, thanks.
awsome dish!! i just made it, added chat masala n ajwain too... it just tasted like pakoras.. i ate it with chutney... my husband hates broccolli but he just loved this dish.. finally i was successful in making him eat broccoli!! thank you so much :-)
Think how good this recipe would be with many of the frozen vegetable medlies in the freezer dept. of your local grocery?! This is a super idea/technic and could probably be used with any hardish veg.
I tried this tonight and it was delicious! I still couldn't get my husband (who is Indian ironically) to eat it though! :( Can you sub the broccoli for cauliflower?
The broccoli is over-cooked by at least 6 minutes. It reminds me of college dormitory food in the USA in the 1950's. I understand why our Indian friends do not favor this beautiful vegetable.

I think Anuja would be a devil in the bedroom... otherwise, yummy recipe! The leftover stalks can be used for a vegetable stock.

the stems are perfectly good to eat too

The left over stalks can be run thru a food processor and shredded, then added to things like pakoras or koftas; or ground up and put in a soup.

@33barbington I agree, but that's so easy to adjust that it doesn't matter. Just don't cook it as long before adding the chickpea flour.

Looks great! I actually use broccoli stalks myself...they are good if you peel them first and cut them up small.
