@synnister7625 Actually the Demonizer is a pre-amp and the solid metal is a distortion device. Dont be fooled by the "Pure class A Distortion" on both of their shells. Its the motto of DC during that time at least since they changed their name to Strymon now.
@synnister7625 I'm not sure, the demonizer is twice the price and has more options... go to the damage control website and see the specs for both and make a decision. It all comes down to personal preference, sorry if my answer isn't what you were looking for. Personally, I was aiming for the demonizer but when I saw the price I gave up on it, it just didn't fit in my budget at the time
To those with SS amps - this will not make your amp sound better / more "tube like"!! The only amp I got this to sound good through was a tube amp (and the distortion from that amp sounded better than the pedal anyway). I bought this pedal and sold it a week later for a Mesa Studio Preamp....Not a bad pedal - just not a miracle worker.
I have a tube and a SS amp but I am testing directly with the pedal output to be sure.
And yeah, somehow I have between 4 and 8 volts, It looks like a problem with the electricity maybe from my home , I will be looking for a voltage regulator or some similar equipment to run the pedal.
Hi, sorry to bother you.I have been using a solid metal but always with a strange loss of gain or tone.
After sending it for repairing and changing the tubes I didn't know what else to do until I realized that the power supply was giving only between 5 and 7 volts.
I bought a new one and I have the same problem, In my country I use 220V but somehow I am only getting 190-200.
Do you mind to chek the output voltage from your power supply?,I wanna know if it's normal to have less than 9v.thanks
My AC adapter has 9.8V, measured by a 5$ digital instrument. Try plugging your solid metal in another outlet, in another room or maybe even at a friends house to see if it always shows the same amount of volts. You could also try measuring the voltage with another instrument.
What amp do you use with the solid metal? Do you have a solid state amp or a tube amp?
In this video I used it in front of the amp. Just today I plugged it into the return of my amp and it sounded a lot better but the clean sound was very muddy, lacking clarity, an eq would probably fix this problem but then again I wouldn't be using the engl clean channel which I love. I'm short 1 cable to try it out in the loop, I'm planning on borrowing or buying one on monday and maybe make a comparison vid between the two (in front of the amp and in the loop). cheers!
Hello. What kind of stack did u use for this demo? Head + 2x12? 4x12?

I play my solid metal through a 5-watt class A amp and it is just unbelieveably fantastic!
Why the hell did Damage Control discontinue this amazing pedal? If mine breaks, I will freak because it will be so hard to replace!
Thanks for the vid.

I have this pedal with my bugera 333XL and sounds insane, with an extra eq and you have a sick rhythm section...

The engle power amp is obviously making this pedals sound this crunchy. I played this pedal through a regular SS amp and it sounds more flat

Thank you for this. I wish everybody who gave vid demos on youtube would learn from you.

Hi, nice video.
Are you using it in front of an Engl Screamer?, Did you try it in the effects loop?
