  • Excellent song from a great album. Few records, before or since, are this good. The Joshua Tree knocked me out. I played that record all day every day for months. And, it's still one of my favorites and one of the all time best recordings.

  • Sadly a song that the band don't seem to value anymore due to it's lack of live performances.

  • this album is the greatest for driving to vegas thruogh the desert, going to sin . they look so cool in that picture on joshua tree album , simply chillin,i wish i was like that, i will be dammit. lets form a band, any one in o.c. ca.. reply .i can get free rehearsal rooms, no joke.peace.

  • asther113, are you forgetting that they had at least 3 albums out before that? And there was a Live at Red Rocks before there ever was a San Diego. No offense

  • Nice sound...

  • I was there, San Diego-U2 was born, the musical journey began.

  • is this not the most unique guitar sound ever? -- - the backdrop for absolutely amazing lyrics. that solo is ridiculous.

  • This song makes me want to drive at 90mph through God's country.

  • ...from an age when U2 were a great band!! They soon turned into a pathetic bunch of cocksucking cunts!

  • @coltsuperocean10 I hear what you are saying but understand why they had to re-invent themself or they would have died out. A bit of sell-out if you ask me but guess it pays the bills :(

  • I'm Half French and I love this! Have ine the album was released!

  • u2 rules

  • superb album and band - dub lads and musics in the blood

  • Can't believe there are even two people that dislike this song. They must be French or something.

  • I lived in Joshua Tree, near the Monument, when this came out - Such an awesome 'outdoor' album. Used to listen to this while driving through the Joshua/yucca tree desert....GREAT DAYS INDEED!!!

  • 1987 was one of The greatest times in the history of Music. Slippery When Wet(Bon Jovi, Appetite For Destruction (Guns N Roses) Girls, Girls,Girls(Motley Crue) Bad( Michael Jackson) and The best of them all ,The Joshua Tree by u2. I was 17 and I rocked them all but Im still rocking u2 and this is my favorite song.

  • This is one of my favorite songs from any group. The imagery is haunting.

  • How can one band make so many good tracks on one album, its re-donkilous

  • The Joshua Tree = Masterpiece

  • Youth is for those who radiate under the sun, dying is for the stagnant one. There is a wicked woman who waits for all to help accelerate our inevitable fall. I want to walk slowly, I want to hear the sweet voices of the eloquently spoken. I want to know when to run & when to lie still but my mind won't stop racing up that wicked, sinful hill. -A. Somberg

  • AND MY GRANDSON OF 9 YEARS LOVES U2 ALSO!!!! HE WENT WITH ME TO THE CONCERT OF U2 YN BRUSSELS , HE WILL NEVER FORGETR THIS EVENING, IT WAS AMAZING

  • This song sums up U2 in their very essence, sound and message! ~ the best song, if it is possible to even choose from such a volume of greatness!

  • Have no words.

  • My favorite U2 song todate.

  • "Magnificent" should have been on Joshua Tree. It would have sounded great with Bono's 1987 voice!!!!

  • A few years back, I was in Palm Springs for a conference and I ventured up to Joshua Tree to check it out. I could literally FEEL this song all around me. It was amazing. This song FEELS like the desert! This is my all-time favorite U2 song.

  • @mollysangelique Nog iemand uit België?

  • @11joshman was a bit suprised about it too but know abides hope, faith and love which never fails:)

  • why does the lyrics say i stand with the sons of kane?

  • @11joshman I think it it's I stand with the sons of Cain. Some say the human race are the sons of Cain since Abel died before having children. So we are all sons of Cain. Some religious conspiracy theroists think that the sons of Cain a really sons of satan.

  • @rosie3814 It's just speculation on my part of course

  • Of course it's just speculation on my part

  • My Favorite U2 Song of all time.

  • There was nothing that sounded like this in 1987, it was in a class all it's own. This is U2's greatest record in my opinion.

  • @MichaelD8393

    Happy New Year...Michael...

    To You and Yours...

  • i think this is the most beautiful song in the world.

  • The ultimate rock and roll band U 2

  • Although this song is dedicated to the Statue of Liberty, I believe that its about our desert; here in Arizona. Have always thought so. I've been burned by the fire. The desert is the fire. When I die, I want this song played at my funeral. Have lived in the desert plane a long time.

  • Great Credits from Three Kings

  • @Ollfie i've loved this album for years just saw three kings and came to listen to this song fucking bomb

  • @rcameronswindsor weird, that was the film i saw the other night too but i forgot what film it was and the only thing i could remmember was this song, just had to google some of the lyrics to find out what it`s title was

  • @sunny1kiss I REALIZE THAT IS A UNDERSTATEMENT TO SAY THAT THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ALBUMS EVER

  • I thought this was a good alblum that sure received a lot of airplay but I was not blown away by it. I love songs like this one which was a hit but did not get an enormous amount of airplay like the other songs on the alblum.

  • Britian rules music. Period.

  • @DavieS993 Agreed, but U2 would not be an example of this as they are Irish.

  • @igott Still part of the British Isles ;)

The Irish have produced some great bands, Thin Lizzy were awesome overlooked and under rated imo.

  • @igott the Edge was born in Essex and his parents were Welsh.

  • @DavieS993 Haha nice try!

  • @igott nice try at what? telling the truth? The Edge is from Britain and Ireland is like it or not part of the British Isles. Let me re-phrase my original sentence then,, the British Isles rule music ;)

  • Beautiful song. Slightly overlooked though. It is one of my favorite U2 songs of all time!

  • This is in the top 25 albums of all times....in my top 10....I am proud to live in the region that inspired this song and the Album..the American Southwest where the Joshua trees are plenty!!

  • @mjw9363 , along with Physical Graffiti(Led Zeppelin), Electric Ladyland(Jimi Hendrix), Stickey Fingers(Rolling Stones), Abbey Road(Beatles), Machine Head(Deep Purple), Disraeli Gears(Cream), Them Crooked Vultures(Them Crooked Vultures), Who Are You(The Who).

  • Edge's oh so brief guitar solo is oh so orgasmic.

  • An enormously underrated song. One of the best in the canon.

  • Beautiful song... Went great in three kings.

  • one of my favourites songs of the album and of the band

  • This is the song that I want played at my funeral, when ever that is!

  • i have seen U2 so many times live and i dont give a shit what anybody says.

they are the greatest rock n roll group in the world.

there sound ,there music and how they have changed there image over the past 30 years.

  • well thats where i first geard this song the three kings credits (great movie) and i love the song.

  • Just as 'Mozambique' was on Bob Dylans desire, this is the overlooked gem on Joshua tree. A beautiful little ditty.

  • @AdyPole I don't believe this song is overlooked at all. My vote goes to red hill mining town.
