@morsosky1 Yeah good call dude. They totally suck. They're only #4 in the country, just blew out a top ACC on national TV and are better than the the UCB weenies best teams in the last 50 years. haha. seriously, name a single kal team in the modern era that wouldn't get DESTROYED by this stanford team (they beat the weenies like rented mules in big game). kal sucks and so does their security...they will always be weenies.
Well it least it was not 1992, when the cal students stormed the field after Stanford crushed them 41-21, looking to fight stanford students. I was there and saw a cal student maybe 21 years old getting ready to hit a 60 year old stanford alum, I was glad i was there, I decked the cal student and was ready to pounce on his and beat him senseless for attacking a 60 year old man, but someone pulled me off of him. Cal= scum
probably not a good idea for people to run right into the main area where security was, but no need for CAL security to manhandle students like that. Seemed like people on the left side of the stands were able to go down on the field without anyone stopping them. But eventually the students overwhelmed security and they only protected the goalposts. Glad CAL got smashed, it was a great game to be at!
In an epic rivalry like this one, the winning team's fans almost always rush the field (no matter how much more favored they were pre-game). Look at the video of Cal's fans rushing the field at last year's game at Stanford (search "Cal Stanford rush field") and you can see that Stanford's security guards are strategically posted to guard the field goal posts.
@chunkybearcub137 why would this year be suddenly different? Also, this discussion should go way beyond Cal/Stanford rivalry. Rushing the field is something that happens in college stadiums big and small around the country. There is a lot of precedent on how to properly handle it. The physicality that was applied as demonstrated in this video and in several other instances is just unacceptable. Again, this is not about Cal/Stanford. This is about eople in "power" positions abusing students.
@jkromp Why are u acting like the security guards when into the stands and brutalized stanford fans? The stanford fans are the ones that rushed the field when clearly it was not going to be allowed. This year was different because there were dozens of security guards there. Obviously Cal made the decision that they were not going to allow anyone to rush the field. Stanford fans should have realized this. There is no RIGHT to rush the field.
You really think 100 guards could stop the Stanford fans? Everyone in the stadium knew there was no way the guards could stop all the students from coming onto the field. The guards themselves knew it.
Yet they still decided to use force on students. Extremely poor way to handle the situation and should never happen again at any stadium ever. Total disgrace.
We fans rushed the field to unite with our players after our RIVALRY game. Why we rushed shouldn't matter anyway!
@MrMattslaughter Forrest Gump rushed the field and ran out too. Rushing the field and rushing out the field has always been an Albama Tradition since Forrest Gump. Just remember to eat Bubba Gump Shrimp when attending the Alabama Big Game. For Bubba Gump Shrimp is the main sponsor for Alabama's Big Game.
@chunkybearcub137: the Cal students rushed Stanford's home field last year after they won and this was a little payback
and to those that are trying to downplay how security at the end of the game was handled, both Ann Killion and Jon Wilner were on the field afterward and noted how students were "roughly tackled" and the overall "thuggish behavior" of security.
I can hear it now... "wilner and killion are stupid. they're biased". "the furd is a turd".
exactly my point.. when Cal rushed the field last year it was a an upset, and Cal won because mohammed intercepted a pass with a minute left.. the game hadnt been over for 3 hours lol
Not to mention, even if every year the fans rush the field, you would think seeing 100 security guards would suggest that it was going to be different this year. I thought Stanford kids were smarter than that
@chunkybearcub137 First Big Game win in Berkeley in 10 years. Biggest Stanford Win in 80 years. Most Points ever. Heartbreaking loss last year at home. It was bound to happen.
@chunkybearcub137 they rushed our field last year... which was unexpected. and just because the odds were in our favor doesn't mean we shouldnt get the chance to celebrate a victory over our rivals too..
@Alexita2013 Not true. He was one of the first people to break the yellow caution tape they had put up. There were several other students who were also tackled and detained at that time. They were subsequently let go by the real police.
@jkromp Stanford deputies are already at the scene in your video. If the guy broke through a perimeter setup by authorities, he probably shouldn't expect them to treat him the same way they would treat a tourist politely asking the Stanford police for directions. I don't see any problem.
I do agree with beeasyed that this video alone does not show "several" instances. However, having been at the game, I can attest that there were indeed instances of unnecessary brutality. I saw one guy tackled and wrestled to the ground by 4 security guards and zip-handcuffs placed on him. Several security guards shoved students forcefully back.
Most hilariously, however, were the times Cal Security feigned a shove, but then pulled away at the last moment and let the students pass. So lame.
I hope they strangle him again if he tries to rush the field at Memorial Stadium again. That is all.

@killsanjaya apparently you forgot 2004: California 41, Stanfurd 6----even in this decade you've lost by a larger margin than Cal ever did.
