Even though I give this movie credit for being ingenious, very thrilling and intregueing...I just dont like it. :/
The reason why I do not like it is because I could relate to the main characar. And where the main charactar was in the movie was a very somber and iscolated place. It was awful to watch and actaully relate because you can just feel how she feels. You can almost understand what she goes through even if you were never a ballerina. Which is why this movie is somewhat genious.
That film blew my fucking mind all over the wall. So dark, and sensual, and cerebral, and provocative, but somehow tasteful. It wasn't anything I expected. They did great making the trailers vague. The people who were open minded and didn't call it "just some girly movie about a ballerina" were rewarded with the magnificence and wild mindfuck that this film was. Black Swan is what movies are supposed to be. PURE FUCKING ART!
Whenever I hear this song, I automatically remember Barbie of Swan Lake. Then, I started to feel like crying because I started to remember my childhood when everything is so awesome and fun. Oh God, I miss those times. T^T
For all the posters believing Black Swan is a film of quality: time to check out some of the films the director was referencing/ripping off. That's Polanski's Repulsion and The Tenant for starters. Even Carrie is much much better. Portman is a very lovely creature who can not act - at all. Deneuve in Repulsion obliterates her, they're not in the same universe. Black It's just out luck to be living through such a magical (film) era. Do your homework. The director did.
I went to see this film with my ex girlfriend. She was a ballet dancer, and was really looking forward to the film. I wasn't expecting much. We came out of the cinema the absolute opposite. I thought it was the best film of the year, she was a bit disappointed. Great film.
@Gendo3s2k what, cause it has dancing in it?? it's actually a psychological thriller/horror..... also if youre secure in your masculinity theres no reason you cant watch, even -GASP- enjoy, ballet...
To all ones who hear the Hedwig Theme in this and to the sophisticated, elite members of their own club called 'White Knights Who Shall Protect The Sacred Treasure That Is Classical Music':
It's one small segment divided over 3 brilliant pieces of music. Every piece of music sometimes 'copies' one another, it's unavoidable. Or else you might want to mention 1:53 as part Darth Vader's Imperial March f.e.
This Brings the audience hope everything will be allright for Nina after the passionate Kiss , sadly she just descends to her own personal hell and in the end of the song we just see her fade away as the Swan Queen love the final 10 minutes of the film =(
i would love if someone would post the piano version of this.. im trying to learn to play it but its hard to do when im listening to this version haha
(at 4:40) right before the ending cresendo, you find yourself following a lilting delicate melody... almost as if it were an afterthought... so painfully delicate as to be almost unbearable... as if the slightest breath would destroy it...
@funnyman200 Clint Mansell couldn't have won an award for this music as it wasn't his own score - he added his own (brilliant) embellishments to Tchaikovsky which made him ineligible to win :/
@wiltonfootball78 Such eloquence! I hardly expected such a sonorous, sophisticated level of linguistic refinement to come from such a language as English! Please, good sir, do go on and inform us of what you designate as "fucking," for I am most mesmerized by this display of magniloquence.
@birdofbrie The whole film was robbed of Oscars... but I'm glad Natalie won, at least. This film was brilliant. On so many levels. Best movie I've seen in ages.
The thing that is BS it was ineligible for entrance to the academy award because of the use of Tchaikovsky music! This honestly would of wom best score in my head.
Mmmn, not as striking as Mansell's other work....still very epic and beautiful all the same, but it doesn't quite strike me the same way as his other music. Still extremely passionate though. But perhaps I'm a little more into the subtlety of his other works.
@BilloukosGR like from 1:21. there are a couple of notes that keep repeating throughout the song and they sound just like smth from harry potter 1 or 2 i think :D or it's in my head :D :))
@BilloukosGR from 1:21 for example. or 2:32. it keeps repeating throughout the song and i can swear it's smth i heard first in harry potter 1 or 2. :D or maybe it's all in my head
I'm not expert in music theory, but I think I know the tune you're talking about. It's basically a string of four notes that sounds like one from Harry Potter, except in a different key. There are a lot of pieces with the same string of four notes.
Do you get what I'm getting at? lol. I didn't explain very clearly :(
@Fennekit yeah, i know :P i didn't say it was original to harry potter or anything like that. it just reminded me of harry potter. thus kinda.. rendering the song less powerfull since well... if u think harry potter, especially the first movies, u think kids playing :))
@RocksyTDG The reason why some bits sound a bit like the harry potter theme is because john williams' HP score borrows heavily from Tchaikovsy's swan lake, which is of course the basis for the black swan score.
@xverxverxverga The thing is, you know nothing of my taste in music or anything else. And I'm not the only one hearing that. People have actually explained why some are hearing the harry potter theme. :) Try reading some more before commenting just for the sake of it.
@RocksyTDG me too. i swear people don't believe me when i say harry potter used swan lake as its central theme, and then i make them listen and they believe me.
@Synna89 I never knew that was the correct spelling of Tsjaikovsky. The English rearrange letters in words when adapting it into the English language because it is easier to pronouce or spell for us. It is not just Russians we do this to but also the immigrants from Asian. When becoming a citizen we will shorten their names and make it become "Americanized" if you will, or easier for them and us to communicate properly.
@Synna89 There isn't a "correct" way to write Russian names in English since Russian names are written with Russian letters. Yu're the only person I've ever seen spell his name that way.
@adari94 Just because russians have some different letters (same as my own language - norwegian), doesn't mean EVERY letter is different.. And if you just do a quick Google, you'll see plenty of other people spelling it like that, cause it's the correct way!
I feel like crying. :( The ending always makes me cry when she says "I was perfect" and you can tell she's not gonna make it because of how bad she's bleeding.
