I do the same thing if I get caught behind someone that is scared to drive with a little of snow. besides trucks do need a little bit of a running start to climb. If this truck stayed behind this pick-up he would then have to ride his brakes all the way now the other side.
Better traction in left lane more snow to grip instead of that icy right lane you are in he did nothing wrong. What's next ya gonna call his company and cry about it
The freeway has loose snow in the left lane which is not much more than maybe at most two inches deep. Semi trucks have a much better time climbing a hill if they are not going too slow. I would not personally drive much more than 50 to pass you in the snowy lane but I would not be poking along at 40 behind you either.
Winter driving tip for the know it all 4 wheelers - Momentum is a trucks best friend going up a hill, especially in winter conditions. If the truck is going to slow in slick conditions, the tires will continue to turn, but the truck won't go anywhere. If it does go somewhere, it will be back down the hill and most likely out of control. Like everything, Speed has it's purposes and the driver of the truck knew what he was doing. This is from a seasoned Winter Driver from North Dakota.
the only crazy person i see here is the person filming. now you get to ride behind a semi in his snow dust. you must be going slow for a rig to pass. if you cant handle driving in snow and sharing the road with people. you should let someone else drive. your gonna be the one to cause an accident.
People gotta realize its not fucking crazy when a truck passes you in the snow. Not only is the truck MUCH heavier than your vehicle, but it also has more wheels, deeper tread, and has a trailer on the back. With all those huge wheels and weight, it has more traction, therefore the ability to safetly travel on snow. I'm not saying trucks, then, can do whatever in snow, they can easily loose control, and once they do, unlike regular cars, its usually impossible to regain control for the trailer.
only thing I saw was a couple idiots with more money than brains playing at being drivers in a little bitty pickup truck, taking the toys out to play......I'd never waste that much money on either the pickup (mine was only $13000) or the sleds.......in other words GET OUT MY WAY YOU TARDS! IF YOU CAN'T MAINTAIN A REASONABLE SPEED GET OFF THE ROAD AND LET US DRIVERS DO OUR JOBS!!!! (special notice to those drivers on highway 5 between Kamloops and Valemont BC)
@DeiselDemon Light trucks have trouble maintaining "reasonable" speed on snow, especially when towing these little trailers. Big trucks have the weight to plant themselves into the snow, providing better traction, and thus better speed. These morons in the pick-up weren't doing anything wrong as far as driving goes; they were in the right lane.
when i first read the title i thought that the trucker guy was passing u on a bit dangerous mountain road but that's a highway and there's nothing wrong with what he did..
I am also a professional transport driver and I also saw nothing wrong with that pass. The road conditions weren't terrible, he didn't fly past you, and he maintained control of his lane the entire time. Also, unless my eyes deceived me, you were also climbing a hill which means that big boy needed the speed to be able to maintain his climb and staying behind you at a low speed would have caused complications for him. He clearly knew the road and wanted to be in front of you to safely go down.
I agree 100% class A training should be required for any class C driver that pulls an trailer or drives an RV they cause more problems on the road than anyone else does they don't have the training to get the "Big Picture"
@HellsBattleMoose You are absolutely right. Going up a hill too slowly can cause you to not make it to the top. Then the fun begins as you have to roll back down to the bottom and try again at a proper speed. Pulling thousands of pounds up a hill requires SPEED but most idiot car drivers don't know this. If you have to roll back down it's no fun cuz there could be a lot of traffic preventing you from doing this. I've never experienced this but I know and saw some who have.
He's an experianced trucker. I've been driving trucks now fer almost 20 yrs & didn't see anything wrong with his driving nor his passing. The "snow" thatchya see on the road is not the slick stuff. There is plenty of dry pavement underneath him to do what he needs to do----DRIVE PROFESSIONALLY! The snow ya see is just really really dry flakes that barely frost the highway. Don't worry bout us truckers. Stay outtuh our way, appreciate the goods we haul fer ya all, & stay off our highways!
It's not crazy dude, I'm a trucker of 15 years, simply put. Your about 4 or 5 thousand pounds in your pick up. We're 80 thousand. we're heavier and can stick to the road better, plus having way more horsepower to get up the hill doesn't hurt. That was a normal pass, you'll be ok. Just give us room and let us do our thing...
The driver is passing at a reasonable rate, trying to maintain speed to get up the hill without spinning out and then continues to drive in the left lane because it is not as slick as the right lane. Obviously a professional driver with snow experience that knows what he/she is doing. It is the amatuers like you that we have to look out for.
the only thing i see wrong in this film is the title. you were probably going at a safe enough speed for yourself in a pickup on snowy road. the truck was also travelling at a probably safe and comfortable speed for himself and his pass of you was acceptably safe. your fear and amazement show a ignorance of big trucks
One thing that trucks got more tracktion then you he's smart and i do the same i would rather drive on a snow packed road then what the 4wheeler is thats prolly all ice..
Im always nervous that my passing a car will scare them into spinning out. Ive seen a few situations where truck drivers have caused accidents in winter conditions by being to agressive and spooking the 4wheeler into a stupid mistake.
@vf12497439 I'm a long haul trucker, and I agree with you about scaring someone who is inexperienced driving around big rigs. The comments I've read are typical of the many truckers out there today that are clueless and don't care about the common people and their lack of driving skills... I'm sure my comment will get tons of flack from these drivers.... I could care less. I've seen many truckers rolled over in ditches trying to get their loads to where ever, no matter of road conditions.
its about momentum, you pick a gear that gets you up the hill, not too much revs, don't change gears, and hope the idiots in slow 4x4's stay to the right. also for your info, a fully loaded semi has great traction, you just can't stop fast, like for idiots doing 30 on the interstate.
The weather and roads looked fine to me.Usually its the retarded snowmobilers on the there way to the hill with there sleds on a trailer do 90mph passing us truckers.
keep it smooth keep it fast , keep it going!!!!!!!! if it had been a single lane road he would have spun out going slow behind that guy! CAUTION EX DUKES DRIVER THOUGH!!!!!!! lol
Been there and done that. If you've got the traction then go for it. Slow down and you might not make it, then everyone will call you a "Dumb Ass" for blocking the road. You can always stop going uphill so it isn't dangerous. Driving in snow is all about keeping up momentum, doing everything smoothly and not using too much power. No point in getting stuck because everyone is driving too slowly around you!
I don't see why you call this vid "Crazy Trucker". He knows the safest part of the road and where he will get traction. There is MORE ICE in the right lane than the left. More car keep to the right and pack the snow which become ice. I have 30 yrs. accident free driving semis cross country and I have used the left lane in conditions like this. I have even used the shoulder for better traction when the left lane was icy. Better learn how to dive b4 you post crap like this. It make you look bad.
You are going up hill all trucks have to keep up there speed to get up a hill if you are going to slow he has to pass you nothing more he can do if he slows down he stops!!!!
In truck the load help to stay stable on the snow. The worst is to slow down when we pass somebody because units can go in jack knife if something happen. Passing fast is actually saving your life young kids. By the way this truck driver was certainly at 90 or 100 but I doubt about it, so meaning you was at 60!?!? The hwy look pretty much clear! it's ok to be scare when you don't have to much experience on the road, but not ok to critic without analyse. Take time next time to learn. Good luck
you guys are fuckin idiots.....the right lane is safer because there not snow pack...how fuckin inbred do you have to be to not get that. This happens all the time in Maine too, the issue isnt with him passing, but the wall of snow he creates as passing, it like driving in a white out.
That truckers probably go a few million miles of experiance driving a truck versus your 5 years/ 20k a year. I wouldn't worry about his driving so much as your dumb ass playing bumper cars on the interstate. Just sayin'
Truck has better traction than your toy car! Than if he doesn't keep his speed, he ma not make it at all, block the travel lines, and you BS film woul be "crazy driver blocked the highway".
(This is a continuation of my comment below). Like I said, it's hard to tell from the video. You'l have to be there to judge. Another set of possible conditions is when the road surface hasn't reached the freezing point yet and snow begins to fall and melts when it hits the pavement and then more snow falls on top of it and even though there isn't that much accumulation it can turn into a skating rink in a hurry. Best conditions, like I said, are when extremely cold and there's been no melting.
It depends entirely on the road surface. You simply can't tell, one way or the other, watching this video. You can't tell in every case looking at a snow covered road surface how slick it is, as any experienced trucker should know. There may be ice on the pavement beneath the snow making it very slippery. Or traction may be good in spite of the snow cover, as is often the case in extremely cold temperatures on road surfaces where there has been no melting and re- freezing.
wow way to be pussies about it there is a dusting of snow if he does not have enough speed to make it up that hill and he hits any ice and spins his tires point blank he the truck and trailer and anyone down hill from him are FUCKED trailer will jack knifeheadding down the hill backwards but im sure you know this because you were the one there taping a good driver passing on an uphill in a safe manner
I saw a Truck Driver pass you in a very safe manner. It appeared to me that you were crowding the center line, causing you to become closer to the Big Truck passing you. Chances are, this Truck Driver has driven many more miles than you and knows his/her limitations.
whaa, a trucker passed me because i was driving likea cunt. whaaa.
grow up pussy. get outta the way. it's idiots like you that make our job that much harder. if you knew what we went through on a daily basis, you'd understand. congratulations on a successful troll movie. big props to being an asshole.
If you can't run with the big dogs then stay on the porch. You are the road hazard with your video camera and your poor additude. Should rename video to wimps getting overtaken on a 4 lane by a professional truck driver.
do u know how annoying and how much shit we go thorugh by fallow slow ass drivers if the speed limit is 75 and ur doing 70 and a truck passes u at 75 u cant say hes driving too fast, the situation is youre driving too slow. or what YOU think is safe in this case the truck driver; thought that how fast he was going is hwo safe he feels
when you get passed by a big rig and your in a normal truck and not towing any trailer (that I can see in the video) then you know that its time to step on that damn accelerator pedal and speed up, lol
Your title is bullshit. My dad logged 28 no incident years driving on shit like this all the time. He'll tell you it's weight and power curve. Stupid bitches shitting your pants were probably turning 1000 RPMs in 5th gear lucky to make it up the hill without swapping ends. That truck's a fucking rock. Why type smack when you obviously aren't capable of driving your vehicle let alone that rig safely.
If you cant handle the roads then stay off them. where I come from we have snow almost half the year we generally don't slow at all for the ice or snow and thats both trucks and cars.
After reading most of the comments, I don't see what the driver did wrong either. He or she passed at a consistent speed and waited a significant amount of time before returning to the right lane (most likely as to not throw road spray and snow on the car being passed). "Crazy trucker" reference clearly indicative of how four-wheelers just don't get it.
your driving what 30mph on a paved surface in a 4x4 vehicle? he obv didnt have the patience to sit behind your slow ass..that nigga's got kids to feed.
I don't see where this trucker did anything wrong. The idiot in the car was probably driving real slow due to being incompetent at weather driving and trucks can't wait all fucking day while some boob in his car is jerking off. He probably had a good load on and good tires and plenty of skill so he figured why the fuck should he wait all day for that guy. Time is money with trucking. Besides, it's better to put four wheelers behind you in weather like that because they usualy fuck up.
I Disagree.. As you can see, There is only 1 cleared lane that in itself makes him reckless. There was not a clear lane for the driver to pass in. He WAS Driving at an unsafe speed for the conditions. And his downhill speed on the ice and snow was just plain driving with his head up his ass. Chains or not, snow or studded tires or not... even simply taking his foot off of the accelerator could cause him/her to loose control.
..............A/...... Makin' the hill......B/.......he's getting ahead of you to keep the snow off your windshield. .....driving like a Gentleman. nothing more to this story.
@MrBullPar thus making it take much longer to stop, the weight packs the snow so densely it has the consistancy of ice which makes traction Worse. bottom line.... Too fast for conditions, unsafe passing, reckless driving and just plain Stupid.
What four wheelers fail to think about is if you are loaded going up a hill you have to do what he did if not your going to get stuck half way up the hill. This driver did it right plus out of respect he stayed in the left lane once he past you so that he didn't blind you with snow.
That truck driver did nothing at all wrong, if a little bit of snow like that scares you then you should stay the hell home. It is road hazards like you that get scared and crap your pampers with a little bit of snow that cause over half the wrecks.
@440sac As a trucker I will tell you it is NOT more stable on ice than a 4 wheeler and guys like this do cause wrecks. How much time does he save by blowing them by on the unplowed half of the road?
Let me guess,,,, you guys live where there is little or no snow and you "drive up to the snow" on the weekends. This guy has probably driven this road with a foot of snow on it and knows every little bump and curve.
some people just dont know, and thoes people usually arnt the truckers seing as they've probably spent most of their lives driving. ever see 3 tandem trailer pass another 3 tandem trailer on a 2 lane highway going up hill, it takes atleast 4 minuits this is nothing idiots.
No, I haven't driven a truck, but I have seen the wreckage of trucks which have jack knifed in conditions far less extreme than these. I just can't believe that you think that these conditions "weren't bad at all".
@ArchieWW Conditions my Ass. Thats nothing. Our highways get a hell of a lot worse then that every winter before they even think of closing them. And when they do, its not because of the trucks that their worried about. It's the stupid people that don't have a clue how to drive in the winter.
Crazy Trucker is a correct description. Driving an articulated vehicle at these speeds in these conditions is plain stupid. If he'd had to touch his brakes, it would have been catastrophic.
@ArchieWW if its a driver that knows how to drive hed be looking farther up the road than you brain could comprehend behind that 4x4 of yours and secondly hed be gearing down long before he had to break lastly if you havent driven with an 80000lb trailer what gives yo the right to judge this guy
Gotta keep the momentum Goin;) there isn't a backseat big enough to hold all the buddies you'd need to push if the truck stopped in that slop. Just another pro driver keepin his truck movin down the road.... And from this video, we easily see the caliber of the other driver too;)
semi's have much more weight to keep traction, not to mention much better tires than that piece you were driving. nothing wrong with what the truck driver did.
Yah, I guess the best thing would be to slow down, lose momentum and spin out when you have to downshift so that you can be sideways across the road blocking anybody else from driving. Looked like another day at the office to me. He did nothing wrong. On snow and ice the brakes are not always your friend.
How slow were you driving? Get out of my way!!!

425diaz 1 month ago

Clipzin33 1 month ago
The smart guy was in the left lane because the right lane gets iced up from everyone driving on it.

That truckers probably go a few million miles of experiance driving a truck versus your 5 years/ 20k a year. I wouldn't worry about his driving so much as your dumb ass playing bumper cars on the interstate. Just sayin'
MrPhillip1978 2 months ago 58

The only reason he do that is because you drive to slow! That was not fast..
Gutt87 2 months ago 2
wow way to be pussies about it there is a dusting of snow if he does not have enough speed to make it up that hill and he hits any ice and spins his tires point blank he the truck and trailer and anyone down hill from him are FUCKED trailer will jack knifeheadding down the hill backwards but im sure you know this because you were the one there taping a good driver passing on an uphill in a safe manner
hockyongrass1 2 months ago
I saw a Truck Driver pass you in a very safe manner. It appeared to me that you were crowding the center line, causing you to become closer to the Big Truck passing you. Chances are, this Truck Driver has driven many more miles than you and knows his/her limitations.

a loaded/heavy truck has more traction than a passenger car/truck. nothing crazy about it. you know nothing about trucking. good video, otherwise.

YOU; felt that driving that slow was safe for you

when you get passed by a big rig and your in a normal truck and not towing any trailer (that I can see in the video) then you know that its time to step on that damn accelerator pedal and speed up, lol
douggoud 3 months ago
Your title is bullshit. My dad logged 28 no incident years driving on shit like this all the time. He'll tell you it's weight and power curve. Stupid bitches shitting your pants were probably turning 1000 RPMs in 5th gear lucky to make it up the hill without swapping ends. That truck's a fucking rock. Why type smack when you obviously aren't capable of driving your vehicle let alone that rig safely.

If you cant handle the roads then stay off them. where I come from we have snow almost half the year we generally don't slow at all for the ice or snow and thats both trucks and cars.

He must have been completely empty, no way he could have blew by like that with a full load
nosajj12345 4 months ago
After reading most of the comments, I don't see what the driver did wrong either. He or she passed at a consistent speed and waited a significant amount of time before returning to the right lane (most likely as to not throw road spray and snow on the car being passed). "Crazy trucker" reference clearly indicative of how four-wheelers just don't get it.
cabover 4 months ago
your driving what 30mph on a paved surface in a 4x4 vehicle? he obv didnt have the patience to sit behind your slow ass..that nigga's got kids to feed.

twinstickpete 4 months ago

@bunkman64 us truckers? Somewhere there is a pumpkin with your'e name on it.
cdnbrit 4 months ago
The truck did nothing wrong at all, but you also have to think that semi weighs alot more thus getting better traction in the snow and ice.
MrBullPar 4 months ago
@MrBullPar thus making it take much longer to stop, the weight packs the snow so densely it has the consistancy of ice which makes traction Worse. bottom line.... Too fast for conditions, unsafe passing, reckless driving and just plain Stupid.
JVPRCNG 4 months ago
What four wheelers fail to think about is if you are loaded going up a hill you have to do what he did if not your going to get stuck half way up the hill. This driver did it right plus out of respect he stayed in the left lane once he past you so that he didn't blind you with snow.

That truck driver did nothing at all wrong, if a little bit of snow like that scares you then you should stay the hell home. It is road hazards like you that get scared and crap your pampers with a little bit of snow that cause over half the wrecks.
rumptrumpit 5 months ago 49
@rumptrumpit not to mention a tractor trailor is heavy and more wheels is alot more stable on ice then a 4 wheeler
440sac 4 months ago
@440sac As a trucker I will tell you it is NOT more stable on ice than a 4 wheeler and guys like this do cause wrecks. How much time does he save by blowing them by on the unplowed half of the road?

TheNoob12 6 months ago
No, I haven't driven a truck, but I have seen the wreckage of trucks which have jack knifed in conditions far less extreme than these. I just can't believe that you think that these conditions "weren't bad at all".
ArchieWW 6 months ago
@ArchieWW Conditions my Ass. Thats nothing. Our highways get a hell of a lot worse then that every winter before they even think of closing them. And when they do, its not because of the trucks that their worried about. It's the stupid people that don't have a clue how to drive in the winter.
Nighthawk368 6 months ago
Crazy Trucker is a correct description. Driving an articulated vehicle at these speeds in these conditions is plain stupid. If he'd had to touch his brakes, it would have been catastrophic.
ArchieWW 6 months ago
@ArchieWW dude have you driven a truck? You know goin up these hills they have a hard time keeping 55? ans the conditions weren't bad at all.
2strokedetroit 6 months ago
@ArchieWW if its a driver that knows how to drive hed be looking farther up the road than you brain could comprehend behind that 4x4 of yours and secondly hed be gearing down long before he had to break lastly if you havent driven with an 80000lb trailer what gives yo the right to judge this guy

Ch1town92 7 months ago
Yah, I guess the best thing would be to slow down, lose momentum and spin out when you have to downshift so that you can be sideways across the road blocking anybody else from driving. Looked like another day at the office to me. He did nothing wrong. On snow and ice the brakes are not always your friend.
