This song is believed to be originated from the bubonic plague that struck Europe in in the medieval era, "all fall down" describes the grisly death resulting from the plague
I think this is creepy:$ when i think about this song I see little children with old fashioned clothes, with pale and white faces, standing in a dark garden, singing this song in gloomy minor tones...
I know that the "roses" is for the rosy rash that appears, the poisies stand by the flowers the people put in their pockets to reduce the smell and alitshoo atishoo we all fall down is the sneezing and the death.
@TheSsdylan atishoo is onomatopoeic for a sneeze. (i had to use that word as i won one penny for spelling it around 1961 Hehe! ;-) The blackdeath also induced sneezing i presume. "Ashes" is also derived from this by the way
@millie8641 Yes I know. We cause so much pollution, we have some of the worst schooling compared to England at least, you don't need to tell me. At least WE'RE free.
@shersherschannelbitc Did you just call me a bloody bastard? Heheh that's kinda funny... And you know I have NOTHING against you guys. A lot of my friends are from England. But it IS kinda creepy when you think about it. Plus it's an opinion. And the first time I typed opinion I typed it wrong. FAIL And I know what I said before was really rude but I really didn't mean it. Truly I didn't. Please don't hate me. I would actually like to become your friend, if possible. I hate fighting with people.

Err... the plague interpretation is false (and wasn't in use before the 1950s) - check out Wikipedia or Snopes for more information.
