All the loco's are controlled from the cab of the first loco, as such it doesn't matter which direction the trailing units are facing for this journey. However there may be a logical reason they're pointing the opposite direction to the first two - no need to turn the loco's for the return journey (or perhaps they're still pointing the same direction as when they arrive in Melbourne as they weren't turned).
Why is it that they have 2 locomotives facing the wrong way?
