Tibetans being treated unfairly? Year right, I have lived in China, the Tibetans, because they are a minority they have many benefits that a Han wouldn't get. They get NO tax, they could get into University with half the score, they could have more than 1 child and they have employment benefits. Yea I wished I was oppressed like that. China will not BE the next super power it IS the new superpower. The reason the torch was attacked in so-called white countries was we are sympathizing with the tibetan people. That the torch was attack can be condemed but the demostrations against China can be understood and they are needed to improve human rights inside China not just in Tibet but in general. It has nothing to do with Anti-Asian feelings, just propaganda against the western world.

Actually the funny part is it depends on which point in China's history you want to look at in which Tibet was a part of china. heck Tibet at one point belonged to Siberia in 1774! Saarkie the issue with Taiwan is it was never taken by the PRC/PLA it stayed under the other government. Honestly I think not backing Taiwan at that point was one of the largest mistakes my nation made during that time and it does sadden me. Texas after it free'ed itself from Mexico actually formed it's own government and joined the United States at a later date. The taiwanese government are the remnants of the old chinese government who couldn't handle being succeeded and fled to taiwan, taiwan had never been a country but apart of China. The torch was welcomed in both Agentina and Tazania. You can count with your fingers what are the countries making a big deal out of it: US, Canada, Germany, France, England. All of these countires were amoung the eight that invaded china a century ago. They will do anything to cause trouble and isolate china. But bad timing for them, now china is stronger than ever and at the end of the day, they will only find themselves isolated from the rest of the world.

In a totalitarian state there is little room to express a greivance. No wonder violent behavior manifests itself. Why does China not understand that Tibet does not want to be ruled by a different culture?
If China had more benevolent policies towards people with political objections then they would not be dominating Tibet. The Chinese really are smart people, but need to not only recognise, but honor and be respectful of peoples rights to express soverenty ideas and different opinions.
