  • I've studied gnostic and new age teachings for years before Jesus took over my life. The ideas and concepts in The Shack are not new. Using the 'Holy Spirit' to tell lies is like the biggest no-no in the Bible. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal whether the teachings in The Shack are true or not. There is no 'secret knowledge/wisdom' to know God. To know God you must turn your life over to Jesus. Its not WHAT you know, its WHO you know. That's Christianity. Gospel not in The Shack once.

  • Well if it creates so much controversy, it may be what Paul said that he rejoices in whatever way Christ is preached... he rejoices !!! Look at it as a work of fiction. Try to examine the author's life. All of us have some confusion which by writing we can take out of our lives and make it into a creative work. Look at how the Shack has helped many people. It is evident from what this person says that it is a work of fiction, and this person says "God is not speaking"

  • Its a book!!! Get over it!!!

  • Kill anyone with a different religion. (Deuteronomy 17:2-7)

  • @prhea1st ancient Israel was a theocracy. This law was intended for self-governing. It does not say 'kill anyone with a different religion' as much as you'd like to be able to read that into the Scripture. You're taking it out of literary context and out of historical context. Thanks for sharing your insights into the Word with us though, you've obviously studied it a lot so are an authority.

  • if gods life be in us then a soulish notion is impossible to sway his people for they know the truth and any external untruth will hardly bat their eyelids however if the lord wills that they speak the truth to all and sundry they will utterely appose that which stands as a counterfeit for the gospel for salvation is only thru the reality of jesus christ and him crucified

  • lison if you are threttend by this book than relook at your faith

  • Hello Youtube,

Everyone who is reading this comment, please click on my username for my videos I made about the The Truth of the World. I have found out what the truth of life is, the truth of the world, and the truth of God. Please, I really want people to watch and listen what I have to say. No more living in false reality, no more living in illusions, no more thinking there is no way out......its time to lead your life into The Truth of the World!!!!!!!!!

I love our Lord!!! God bless!!

  • I know the problem with people is that they TALK things to death! Look very close to a flower Up close people may think fuzzy and furry mainly dark drab colors. How many people would say its ugly? Pull out farther to see the bigger picture and you see what you hadnt before. A way to see beauty in a completely different perspective. This world lacks sight. No one can tell me God isnt speaking to us thru this book. A work of Fiction I think NOT. If God touches you there is no fiction only Truth.

  • Bless you William P Young, for obeying God and not listening to the mockers

  • And then the church itself gets scared because its not "traditional", its not the "norm". Well all we need to do is think outside the box for once. If God wants to reach people outside of the church walls (which he does obviously), then who are we to say that He would never do it this way?We are wrong to judge. When I read the book, it made me feel closer to Jesus. It helped me to understand who He is and just how much He loves each and every one of us.

  • @aaronsokell god and his true church are never in any box but doctrine is vital and discernment and exposure of heresy are promoted by Paul and by Jesus. "feeling" closer to Jesus is the rub- faith is not a feeling - your experience is subjective - if God makes you feel uncomfortable would you believe Him ? This book promotes the androgenic Babylonian image of a dual deity- that in itself is heresy- God says that is wrong so you need to take that up with Him

  • @pianohbc its not promoting an image of a dual-deity. There is in fact a trinity mentioned: God (Father), His Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. The book puts these three into an easy-to-grasp format. That while they are 3, they are 1 as they can't be 1 without each other.

  • @aaronsokell I am commenting here on the male/female aspect not the Trinity. The Bible is the easy to grasp format- The Shack is the twisting of the easy to grasp in order to deceive format or at best be a limp, false and not at all Biblical fiction thats not even Christian. Galatians 1 v 8

  • @pianohbc you seem to be missing that this book is not trying to assign gender identities to the trinity. On the contrary in fact. It is challenging the gender identities we have ALREADY given the trinity and helping us take that first step towards not putting God in a box.

  • I personally believe that God gave The Shack to William P Young for a reason. To reach people OUTSIDE CHURCH who don't want to look at the Bible because they think it too difficult/boring to read. Therefore we are given people, talented people like WPY, who listen to God and are obedient in completing the task God sets out.

  • The Shack is one of the best books I've ever read. It makes understanding the Trinity very simple.

  • I didn't like the book. It thought too much of itself and it only uses shock factors to those who believe in this common fallacy.

  • I encourage those reading these comments to read ele12957 remarks, test his fruits against 1 John and make up your own minds about his claims. For the record and in the presence of Jesus Christ, I faithfully declare that I do not have not ONE other account on YouTube. You will notice that the account he created to discredit my husband and I is in the US. I am in Australia.

May the Lord have mercy on this pathetic wretch as He did with me when I, too, was an unsaved wretch. Praise God.

  • I'm not going to "Test his fruits".

Prove your Bible has any bearing on the REAL rational world. Then I might try.

  • PUBLIC STATEMENT:

In an attempt to discredit me for exposing W. Paul Young, "ele12957" has opened an account named "NotIButChristWithn". My husband's channel name is "NotIButChristWithin". ele12957 opened this account the very day my husband introduced himself and rebuked ele12957 sharply for making entirely inappropriate remarks on a public forum about our marriage (see "The Shack Uncovered" video).

Judge his fruits and do not heed any comments made by NotIButChristWithn (missing "i").

  • Not to mention that the account with the missing "i" is now closed. Hmmm, I wonder why...

  • Indeed, APSOC38. Hastily closing a phony account seems to be a recurring pattern once the deception has been exposed in the light. Please pray for this man. God bless you.

  • I will not respond the ele12957's taunts and scurrilous false accusations because cyber bullies thrive on contention, negativity and attention.

For more information on the character and behaviour of cyber bullies, please feel free to search the internet for: Urban75 - Cyberbullying Dealing with cyber bullies, flame mail, hate mail.

Please pray for him. God bless you.

  • To fully understand the depth of Paul Young' s involvement in Emergent theology, look for an article on the internet entitled: "

"If My People - An evening at The Shack with Paul Young"

An excerpt reads: "As the night went on, he (Young) seemed to get more and more out there; yet in a subtle way. As my friend Gaute said, "It's spooky!". ...Overall, his message last night focused on introducing a new view of God. Sound familiar? It does if you have researched the Emergent church any."

James Robison Interviews Paul Young on Life Today

James asks Paul Young about all the controversy, such as, is he or the book about Universalism does he reject Penal substitution & many other so-called heresies spread by ignorant uneducated people who hate the idea that God is love and uses his love to reach a lost & dying world.

Please discover the truth for yourself & dont listen to these Pharisees who deceive.

  • For an in-depth review of the book by a personal friend of Paul Young's of more than a decade who sacrificed their friendship to defend the Gospel against The Shack's heresies, you are welcome to search the internet for the title:

"At the back of the Shack A torrent of Universalism - Review by James B. De Young"

This excellent review is indepth, thorough and very comprehensive and reveals the extensive issues in the book. It also shared an insight into Paul Young's personal beliefs.

  • A quote from James B. De Young's review on "The Shack":

"In addition, at the back of his novel, among his Acknowledgments, Paul lists several authors who have influenced him, and among these are at least three universalists. He also cites with approval a universalist at the beginning of chap. 14. Do not these features connected to the writing of the novel suggest that universalism is in the book?"

  • For a fair and balanced (non-judgmental and non-pratisan) review of the Shack, go to pilgrimprog's Shack Review which is about 9:59 minutes long. It is the first of more to come. I noticed there are not irresponsible comments there and if you listen to the review you will understand why. Very well founded and thought out and presented review. It is the epitome of reviews becasue he understands the

proper "review" basics! Grace and peace!

  • When a staunch proponent of the "The Shack" offers you a "fair and balanced" review of the book, you know that it is anything but fair and balanced.

"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you." Matt 24:4

Compare everything to the Word of God (avoid "The Message" Bible):

"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Acts 17:11

  • With many prayers and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I have incontrovertibly proven that Paul Young is teaching Emergent Universalism. Please see my previous comments and the links provided as these expose Young's false doctrines in the light of God's truth.

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32) I pray that those who have ears will hear. May the Lord God bless you and lead you into all truths. In the name of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • The following is a quote from Brad Jersak's review of "The Shack":

"To put it another way, when I want to share what I think God is REALLY like, I'm not afraid to say, "Read the Shack. That's God as I'm getting to know him." When I've given the book to unchurched folks, my favorite follow-up question is, "What if God is really like that?" Their answer: "Then I'd follow him." Nice."

    - Clarion: Journal of Spirituality and Justice. Winter Readings

Brad Jerzak is an Emergent Universalist.

  • (1) During a recent radio interview with Pastor Kendall Adams, Paul Young expressly denied the penal substitutionary atonement which the heart of the Christian faith.

    Young also stated:

"I would, I would recommend Brad Jersak's book, um, um ...that he just came up that he edited which has got maybe 30 different theologians who are opposed to the penal substitution and uh ...what's it called? Um, uh, the wrath of God is in the title, and it's a question mark, um."

  • (2) Brad Jersak is an Emergent and the book Young is referring to is "Stricken by God?". One of its contributors was Marcus Borg who is at the forefront of the Emergent movement which denies the divine authorship and authority of God's Word.

To read the review search the internet for the title: "Books and Things - Book Alert!!! - Stricken by God?"

  • (3) "Stricken by God?" poses the questions:

"Did God pour out his wrath on his own Son to satisfy his own need for justice? Or did God-in-Christ forgive the world even as it unleashed its wrath on him?"

And is founded on this premise:

"Gods nonviolence in Christ at the cross. i.e. While the Cross was a violent episode, we are not witnessing Gods violence; the atonement is NON-PENAL. Good Friday was not the outpouring of Gods violence upon Christ to assuage his own wrath."

    Heresy.

  • (4) Paul Young is promoting an Emergent position which denies the authority of God's Word and the penal substitutionary atonement, subscribes to Universalism, pantheism and mysticism. It is one of the most dangerous movements in Christianity today and is devilishly leading millions astray with a false gospel, a false christ and a false spirit.

If this is a book that Young promotes, what does it say of his own writings? "The Shack" promotes the same Emergent Universalism Jersak teaches.

  • You have heard the comments, I'm sure, about how wrong it is to make God into the image of a man - I see that as being: portraying God as punitive, arbitrary, unloving, performance-based acceptance of people as just that. God is not like man, no? Agape love is unconditional, it's real meaning in the Greek is about value for the object of the love, it says nothing about performance! you know of whom I speak, I'm sure.

  • I sure do!

  • For the irrefutable evidence of Young's outright denial of the penal substitutionary atonement, please feel free to search the internet for the radio interview between Pastor Kendall Adams and Young (a partial transcript is also available on the same site):

"More Books and Things... Interview with William Young - ALERT"

Jesus warned us: "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience" (Ephesians 5:6)

  • A quote from the transcript of this radio interview between Adams and Young reads:

    (1) Adams: "I take it that you... wouldn't agree that the cross was a place of punishment for our sin."

Young: "No. I don't, I am not a penal substitution... reformation... point of view."

Adams: "But isn't that the heart of the gospel? Is that the heart of the gospel?"

Young: "No! Ha, no! The heart of the gospel is that we are, are so pursued, the heart of the gospel is in Ephesians 1:5."

  • (2) Adams: "But if you reject a penal substitution that Christ died as a penalty for our sins, it seems like that is the, that is the Christian faith."

Young: "I don't know if you're aware, but that's a huge debate that's going on in theology right now within the evangelical community."

Young: "...how do we understand it? And how do we define what exactly took place? And I'm saying, that there is a huuuuuge amount of disagreement among theologians, about what all that means."

  • "[James] Robison is "officially" a Southern Baptist evangelist (but sounds more like a holy-roller Pentecostalist), who claims to have a "ministry of reconciliation" (translated "unconditional acceptance and love based on feelings rather than on truth"). ...[He] Gives credit to the following mystic healers as those exemplifying the works of Jesus in their ministries: John Wimber; Kathryn Kuhlman; R.W. Schambach; E.W.Kenyon; and Oral Roberts." (Biblical Discernment Ministries - James Robison)

  • Utopiang, James Robison is a highly respected man of God ur slanderous remarks and questionable assumptions are typical of how the Pharisees tried to call Jesus a sinner and demonized. You continue to show yourself to be a hateful, legalist who is devoid of any understanding of God's love. You are a spiritual coward and will agree with people who promote heresy as long as they agree with you about the shack. Some would call that two faced.

  • When looks at the comments of this minister, ele12957, on other "Shack" videos we see not only a fervent defense of a book that blatantly disobeys God's Word (Romans 1:23-25), but we also see venomous insults, unChrist-like behaviour and false theology.

He will not defend the Lord against Young's attacks on His holy deity and nor will he recant his support for a man who publically denies the penal substitutionary atonement (the CORE of the Christian faith). Pray for him but please avoid him.

  • If anyone has any interest in learning more about James Robison - a man who actively supports the ungodly movement "Promise Keepers" - please feel free to search the internet for an article entitled:

"James Robison General Teachings/Activities - Biblical Discernment Ministries"

The article quotes Robison famously stating:

"I tell you what, one of the finest representatives of morality in this earth right now is the Pope. People who know it really believe he is a born again man."

  • It appears that the website "Biblical Discernment Ministries" may not offer impeccable information and therefore the sources cited should be thoroughly checked before a conclusion is reached.

  • Fortunately, my research reveals that the statements I made about Robison's support of the Promise Keepers and his quote about the Pope are correct. I encourage you to research and cross check these statement as it is important to make certain of the facts.

Quote from Robison's interview with Young. Robison stated: "... along with another wonderful communicator, James Ryle [Promise Keepers],

Search for the words"James Ryle Vineyard Toronto Blessing" on the internet.

    God bless you.

  • At Trinity we have a two-yearly Bible reading programme which we encourage all members to participate in so that they are reading through the whole Bible. I do like to use the projector for displaying Bible texts in my sermons as I tend to quote a lot of verses - from all over the Bible (showing inner canonical connections) and I don't want people to be so taken up with finding the texts that they 'miss' my sermon. But, for the main Bible reading we encourage all to follow in their Bibles. M

  • We are in an age of information and MOST Christians don't even read their Bibles and wouldn't pass a basic competency. The present and new battles are for the mind. We must get back to exposition and the "public reading of scripture" admonished in Timothy. This practice will help preserve the bride from error so she is not as dependent. Pastors, Elders, don't assume your flock are reading their bibles, enough of overhead scripture make them bring them, randomly pick a man to read scripture.

  • You are welcome CANAMarcia. God bless you.

  • Thanks. I've had a look at James' article on universalism - it was eye-opening. It just confirms what I suspected from the shack. It's sad that so many are being 'sucked in.'

  • Praise God, I am glad the De Young's article was helpful to you. God bless you, John3versesixteen.

  • I recommend an article by James B. De Young who has been a friend of the author of this book for many years. He reveals the truth about William P. Young's commitment to Universal Reconciliation and its doctrines in "The Shack":
