Come on guys, everybody who works with snakes get bit or spit on every now and then. It is Albert's amazing ability to heal on his own that keeps him alive. Say HI to Bobbie for me!
for the record...it would HYPOTHETICALLY take 3 hours for a full kc bite to kill an elephant. not 15 minutes. one small thing people fail to mention (or know)is that a kc cant bite through the skin of an elephant. period. and NO ONE has ever seen an elephant die from a cobra bite. and if they say they have they are lying. people just use an elephant (its weight) as a refereence to the venom yeild a kc has.
when you get bit - and you will I will laugh - as a snake owner for 30 years - bottem line is - its not if you get bit but when. also remember - an escaped snake is comical an escaped venomus snake is criminal
In fact, the deadliest snake bite, and quickest death on record was by a banded Krait(Bungarus faciatus). They kill humans with a higher percentage due to toxicity, their venom is neurotoxic. However they tend to be shy and docile, so recorded bites are rare.Because of this fact, we do not have an antivenine available for this bite. There was a collector, hunting them for venom research, who was bitten last year and died almost immediately.
I'm sorry but this is simply wrong. Bungarus fasciatus causes very few snake bites at all, and death is extremely rare - and I'm talking about within the natural distribution. The reality is B. fasciatus is a very reluctant biter, you almost need to bite it first! Other members of the genus are a different story. Bungarus candidus, Bungarus caerulus and Bungarus multicinctus all cause a lot of bites. Death however is slow, and the result of progressive, irreversible neurotoxicity.
As I know,B.fasciatus is generally more aggressive than B.multicinctus.B.multicinctus is more prevalent, thus causing more accidents. The no.of snakebite cases depends on many factors, like snake occurrence, distribution, etc.
B.caeruleus causes relatively few accidents when compare with the other members of the Big Four.Yes,bites are deadly as many accidents occur at night and many people underestimate the danger.
In other words the amount of anti-venom required to tackle a full on KC strike is unequalled.
Finaly, Tapians & Mambas may have the higher venom yield but it is a fact that neither can deliver enough to floor an elephant which a KC can do within an hour (a documented fact) not 15 minutes as stated here which is bull!
The mamba my be considered the worlds most dangerous snake but potentially the KC is the one to fear!
There is no a certain answer as it depends on how you think.Generally, there are many factors to determine the danger of snakes(e.g.snake temperament, toxicity, venom dose, fangs effectiveness, strike abilities, etc). The king cobra is regarded as one of the most dangerous snakes(together with black mamba, coastal taipan, eastern diamondback, eastern brown, saw-scaled and Russell's viper, etc).Presently, the mortality rate caused by black mamba and king cobra is the highest among venomous snakes
It is well documented that poeple have died within minutes and infact the fastest recorded human snake death is from a KC bite in India at a mere 3 minutes and no Taipan or Mamba can get close to that.
Its not all about potency its also about volume and people forget that the KC venom is still 50 times more potent than a Rattlesnakeand more or less on a par with other cobra's (so still very potent) yet delivers 10 times more than any other snake except the gaboon viper.
The comments posted against this video seem to be made from uneducated viewers. I have studied Herpology and i am going to set the record straight! Yes from an average KC bite a Mamba or Taipan is more threatening (although the king still has a 75% mortality rate). However a full on bite from a KC and nothing compares. No venom from any sname in existance takes effect faster than a full on King Cobra bite period an in particular that from an Indian King.
Moreover, there is no an exact ranking as there are a lot of variations(e.g.each individual has different temperament). The species listed are generally regarded as highly dangerous.Yet,I agree that every snake has potential to kill you and different snakes cause different danger.Yes,KC venom has rapid effect on humans+the dose is huge and it has high attack position,it caused the fastest death time.LD50 may/may not be applicable on humans as it usually use rodents as the indicator.
"One single bit from this snake will kill and 8,000 pound element in less than 15 minutes."
Okay, come on, wayyy to much exaggeration. King Cobras can deliver more venom than any venomous snake because of their size, but their venom actually is less potent compared to lots of other cobras. It could kill a human in an hour, MAYBE. But an 8,000 pound elephant in 15 minutes, no way at all.
yea its the biggest snake with venom but not even close to the most potent venom and not close to the deadlieast. black mambas are the deadliest snakes in the world.
The deadliest snakes in terms of most potent venom would be the inland taipan and the other elapids of Australia. However, the ones that kill the most people in the world are The common (not king) cobra, the banded sea krait, the Russels Viper, and the Sawscaled viper. The black mamba will very much likely kill you without treatment (or even with treatment), but isn't the deadliest. Getting bit would really suck though.
the deadliest snake in the world is the one that just bit you..but mambas venom while being very potent is not even in the same class as any of the Tiapan's were even with treatment 1 in 4 die..they are however one of the most dangerous due to there speed and aggression
King cobra bite to a human would take 30 minutes to and hour depending on health and body weight. Their venom is no more and no less potent than an Indian or Monocle Cobra. They're also less agressive and less likely to bite unless seriously provoked (in most cases).
The animal is in a shed. he can't see, so you are handling a blind snake. As an expert the snake is moving as if he is cold. See- Cobra in Dining Room
He works with these snakes everyday and I remember him getting bit a few years ago when I worked next door, he almost died, so I know they have their venom.
I suppose that's not the best way to handle a venomous snake. Of course, king cobras are known for their calmness, but, anyway, it's the biggest venomous snake in the world!!!
1) Milking a snake will only REDUCE the amount of venom it has availible for a short time (days, maybe weeks). That snake could easily kill you seconds after being milked.
2) I've known Albert a long time, but frankly, I didn't beleive him when he told me that snake was intact until about a year ago. If you catch the right episode of Miami Animal Police, you'll see me holding the body of that snake while Albert milks it, and watch the venom flow.
