Yeah, ranting doesn't work for me either. It works for some people, but I can't stand to hear/see myself rant. My most popular posts are very soft and loving in style. They're also my favorites.
What worked for me? I like playing reporter. When I go somewhere, to an event or something, I like to take pictures and then report on it. It's relevant, helpful and fun.
A few weeks back some friends moved someone solely with bicycles, called a Bike Move. Very big in Portland, Oregon I hear. Well the post went viral. Over six hundred people enjoyed reading about it. That was my most fun post. You can see it too on pausethatrenews(dot)com Ciao.
I have 2 main blog's - One is called i-Blogger, and with this one I have tried doing these quotes strictly for bloggers I call them i-Blogger Quotes - What I do is... I will re-write a famous quote or saying and make them more appropriate for the life of a blogger - Sometimes I even just make up my own.
But on my other blog - The HCG Diet 411 Blog I have recently tried throwing in a little bit of my sense of humor into my daily blog posts.
Love your boy's work. I found this post of yours just as I finished uploading an outtakes video for a more serious and direct one we made as a pitch to advertisers.
I like the outtakes one much better, because it shows us cracking up in the attempt. We hope advertisers will see us as real and approachable, in both the videos, in a way that a simple media kit cannot.
I think you are showing us one right here. Using video to change things up.
I started adding video into my posts to bring more of my personality into what I was writing about. I found sometimes my writing was dry, but by adding a short video, people could see how passionate or enthused I was about a certain top.
I also find making video, much more enjoyable than simple typing out any idea.
You know Darren, I do a lot of playing with the imagery that I associate with my posts. I'm still refining my voice so I'm a bit more methodical about that - but imagery is totally up for experimentation.
I've also been playing with the actual mediums used on my blog. The standard text post is their but I've recently introduced video which has been fun.

Thanks so much, and the worst thing that I can think of when being playful is that I eventualy have no privacy on my real life, thanks.
