  • Pity that this isnt possible anymore.

Was my best Money source damn ncsoft why they had to nerf 600/smite...

  • :'( it almost makes me cry ... such a pity it doesn't work anymore =(...

*a minute of silence for the ancient GW builds*

  • there is a new mo/d build could you make a tutorial on that plz

  • This was really good. stinks they nerfed it, hope you make a vid for the new build when you get it..with your gear in it as well..that could be helpful..

  • dang you are good

  • dos this work ?

can you ping mer then the nesest build

  • Not as is, but I am looking into an alternative build. The issue is that Holy Wrath doesn't do damage anymore, which would require the monk being the smiter - I think that having 3 monks rather than 2 could do it, and make the 600 partly the smiter... I'll post when I find the new build.

  • what are your hero's first 3 sigs?

  • @st0neliver

I'm guessing Blessed Signet, Purge Signet, and Signet of Devotion.

  • it possible to do this with the same exact builds in normal mode?

  • Yes and no. You need an AR lower than 15. You'll need your starter armor and be careful not to get any large groups.

  • Wht weapons are essential for 600

  • read description

  • What weapons are essential for 600???

  • Nice cof run there m8. I'm am a starter 600 monk ATM how far into eotn is CoF??

  • I'd say between 1/3 and 1/2. If you don't do any of the Norn and head straight for the Char area it's 1/3. If you muck about in the norn section first, I'd say 1/2.

  • you should use prot spirit before spell breaker due to the fact that prot spirit lasts longer than spell breaker.

  • but if you aggro the enemy before spell breaker, you are likely to die.

  • Got 3 gold drops and 1 green prior to the chest last run. Not to mention rin relics, chalices and char carvings.

  • do u need basic armor cuz i just bought lvl 45 armor and i got like 5 sup vigor just for this

  • You need starter armor or as low as you can go. 15 is normal.

You only need one sup vigor....

  • Oh god, a year away from Guild Wars and I just came back. I used to always 600/smite wherever I was. Even if a group was faster, I'd 600/smite it. Honestly though, I've seen a lot of variant's that are quicker lately. I can't find many of them on PVXwiki, any suggestions?

  • Depends on the area. Some places don't require spellbreaker, like the first city.

  • Any way we could possibly hang out and you show me some basic runs.

    :D

  • Do you want me to be the 600 and you smite or vice versa? :P

  • I'd prefer to 600 just for the experience, but the "harder runs" you can do it. I'll add you right now!

  • they nurfed mantra so what do you advise we use/do

    instead?

  • That was the pvp version. Mantra of resolve is still ok :-)

  • So this is still doable with the same builds?

  • In normal mode? Yes, but having starter armor is a must.

  • So not in HM?

  • HM is easier to do.

  • is this run possible in normal mode even with starter armor?

  • This run is possible in normal mode ONLY IF you have starter armor. The enemies need to hit you for 60 damage for your spirit bond to heal you. Also, the less damage they do, the longer it takes to kill them, thus making it possible for them to use enchantment stripping spells.

  • helped me a lot ty

  • Hey !

Please can you give me your heroe build ?

  • In my description of the video there is a link to the PVXwiki page that has the hero build. Here is the template code. the first 4 skills can be whatever you want them to be.

    OwQTQGH/4IlnkhdKk0Lf4D

  • Thanks a lot !

  • Different people, different builds.

  • what weapon\off-hand are you using?

  • this is not working for me, ogden keeps dieing when they are attacking me how can I avoid this?

He is flagged away but seems to die because of reversal of damage or something like that

  • You need a second hero to keep him up. Mending on him and a cheap touch heal should be fine.

It's only the banshees that hurt him.

  • I find the easiest way to do the biggining part of CoF is to get 1-2 mobs going at once if you understand what to do my build is different in one way instead of purge condition i have SoA

  • People seem in love in SoA. I keep telling people to use whatever build works for them. I can do it in under an hour, sometimes 40 mins. I don't die and I have fun.

  • Bigsorakipu, in GW you dont nerf classes like in wow, its nerfing builds/skills here.

  • Or game mechanics that are exploited, i.e. keg bombing. I think 4 secs between kegs is too much. People wouldn't work so hard to find money making tricks if the market was regulated a bit more. 100g for a diamond... what a joke.

  • Comment removed

  • this still works i belive

  • Yes, luckily. Did one a few weeks ago.

  • nerf monks

  • They have been, many times. My keg bombing with my sin has been made useless. This run needs 3 people to do it quickly, so it's not like it's a massive bug of cheat.

  • is there any way to replace shield of absorbtion? cause me and my friend want to do this but neither of us have nightfall only factions and proph :(

  • Sorry for the late reply, my friend was supposed to be answering you guys. Yes, you can do it without Shield of Absorption.

  • what weapons do u use?

  • Simple 55 monk weapon, i.e. enchanted sword with energy (or axe). Off-hand adds +45 health while enchanted and energy. Bison cup can work well.

  • Can I take sth other than this mesmer skill? Just can't change my secondary profession yet ;D.

  • The problem with this is that when you get to the second level you are facing the enchanting weapons. You would need something that prevents interruption. I wouldn't recommend it, I would stick with the build as it works :)

  • Spirit bond works even with less than 600 hp. It calcs damage BEFORE prot spirit, so just having low AL is important. More HP=more time to react=less deaths, but 600 is a good place to be at HP wise, but not needed. I can do this build with 450 hp, but it is not recomended.

  • Well, holy wraith doesn't deal it's full amount of 53 dmg with less then 800hp.

    800 hp x 10% (Protective Spirit) = 80 damage taken

80 damge x 66% (Holy Wraith) = 53 dmg reflected which is max for holy wraith at 16 smiting prayers.

Less then 800 hp = less then max damage.

  • what type of armor do you use?----my username is aka kiba

  • Starter armour

  • thank you

  • If you don't have it anymore, buy the 15AR Canthan armour in factions :D

  • you should use shield of absorbation some where in there because when u use it u wont take damage for a while but the enmys will still get same amount of damage just make it alittle less stressful and relaxed in combat mantra is a great skill but i always forget to use it lol and i seem to normal be ok just with SoA dont cast when a char mesmer is a round or hex breaker can interupt it dispite mantra of resovle hope that made sense

  • very nice thank you X

  • What game recorder do you use? Also, great tutorial.

  • I use fraps.

I set the game to 1280x768 (720 bugs my screen). Set Fraps to record at Full-mode, 30FPS and record sound.

If you liked the tutorial, make sure you check out part 2 (burning forest) and part 3 (end), so that you get the details on those parts of the run.

  • Awesome, thanks.

  • One more question, what video editor do you use to publish your videos?

  • LOL. You're going to laugh... I am using Windows movie maker. I dump the video in, record the narration quickly and hit publish. In the options I choose Windows Media HD 720p. Then it's just a matter of uploading it to youtube.

  • Aha. All Right. Thanks :)

  • why you don't use manta of resove?

  • I only use it against the enchanted weapons and the spiders.

VERY rarely do any of the other enemies interrupt you. In my new video, you can see it being used. I added it a few minutes ago.

  • is running CoF profitable? is it more profitable to run a 2-man duo or to actually run PEOPLE. like a whole party of real people.

  • It can be. If you run it with 2-3 friends, and you're in it for the drops, it is more profitable. It is also profitable to run people from your alliance, since each person will make 5-10k per run, thus making your alliance richer :D

If you want to charge people a fee to take them on the run, which a lot of people do, then it's better to take 1 or 2 heroes and charge 1-2k per person. But I never do that. I run with alliance mates only.

  • u confused me :( ur saying if u run with an alliance buddy that u can charge people more for a run???

  • No. If you run people from your alliance, they don't pay you, unless you're greedy and make your friends pay.

If you charge people outside the alliance, the most you'll get out of them is 1-2k per person. But the amount of profit each person makes is betweek 5-10k. If you bring only alliance members, then 8 people in your alliance (this includes you) are 10k richer. (80k)

If you bring non-alliance people and one hero, and charge them, you'll be 14-32k richer. I prefer making everyone richer

  • Well thats like the basic basics... missing some skills there on the hero and yourself, but thats the basic principal of the build at least

  • What skill am I missing on myself or on my hero?

  • BiP, Purge Sig and SoA

  • The hero has purge signet, but it's of no use, since I have purge conditions. I don't use BiP, since I can manage the energy adequately. When I go down with many people, I have someone bring succor, but it isn't needed.

SoA is not needed at all. I've done the run without it for months.

All that being said, there are loads of variants, and people should tweak the builds to their game style. I can do the CoF run with a ranger secondary, replacing SB with Melandru's resilience. Loads of fun!

  • mmmm, MR does sound like fun, espcially with Energy regen from it... that would be different... a little more fun especially when you don't have the anti-ruptor stance... but you are right about the varients... I guess I am more old fashion :-p

  • also... if you bring a human healer, I like them to bring RoD and use it on the smiter... the RoD from the Banshee will actually be reflected back on itself if the Healer RoD's the Smiter... however... there is a bug with this where sometimes the RoD will reflect on the Healer instead of the Banshee... which I havn't figured out why yet...

  • MR is fun, but a few of the char will strip your enchants, so be ready to spam prot spirit and SB.

When I bring a human healer, they have LoD (deldrimor), watchful spirit, succor, and mending. If I plan on using MR, them bringing SB makes the few fights with the char that can take off enchants a breeze.

I like to mess with builds, which keeps the game fresh. I would hate farming for that long with no change.

  • ya it does get stale...which is why I only do it if I need the funds...

  • You don't actually need over 600 life for spirit bond to trigger. The 60 damage requirement is calculated before protective spirit or shield of absorption is applied.

  • Does that mean that if I had a 55 monk build instead, and used spirit bond, it would work?

  • Yes spirit bond works with a 55 but the problem then is that retribution and holy wrath wont do more that 1-3 damage because those don't apply until after protective spirit.

The mechanics of these spells are a weird system but if you do a bit of trials and testing you will see what works and what doesn't.

  • purge conditions over SoA is pretty brave.

  • It is great and makes it go faster. The next video on this topic (Sunday I hope) will show the burning forest of level 3, and how purge condition speeds it up immensely.

  • Nice Vid, very informative, now I am going to go make a Monk thanks for ruining me.^^

  • Very informative video, 5 stars!

  • Thanks. I will post another one in a day or two to show how this build manages to get through the burning forest, and later a video to show how to kill murakai quickly.

  • Yep and it is simple to fix

0.55 to 1.06 I explain why you need a second monk if you fight large groups.

The Crypt enemies do reversal a damage, but you're not the one causing the damage, your hero monk is (called a smiter). If you only fight one group of them at a time, they shouldn't do too much damage to him. If you want to fight larger groups, bring a second monk to heal your first monk.

Have the second monk bring mending, and a touch heal for the smiter and succor for you. :D

  • That's a great question. It isn't the best build, but it works great on large groups. In the burning forest of level 2, I have no problem with the enchanted weapons. It's just a question of timing spirit bond to the last second. Purge conditions dismember, which can be used to interrupt you.

I recommend playing with skill 1 and 5 depending on what you have trouble with. If large groups, swap for shield of absorption. If energy, switch mantra for blessed signet.

  • how do you manage to stay alive with big groups without shield of absorption? I don't think that build is the best at all :/
