The moment you bring your attention to the fact that you began to drift away in thought you are in the NOW. When you begin to think, be aware that you did it by "Saying to yourself, "I drifted in thought and I accept it. I will focus on my breathing"
i take a deep breath and fully witness that process. You are there
Once you are there, even if it's only 3 seconds, you are there... focused and aware of your breathing, then the thought "WOW I DID IT" comes in and your out of it again, but then you realize that you are out and begin to breath again and be aware of that.
The more you practice this in silence the more you realize you can do that in your daily live situations and bring yourself into awareness more and more until it becomes your daily state. don't rush it, surrender to it. Let it BE

@thegreatmonster As of 2012, Australia will be 224 years old, USA will be 236 years old, India will be 65 years old, Nepal will be 244 years old. But Kiratdesh(now Nepal and NE India) is more than 5000+ years old.
So did you see the difference now?
Buddha was born some 2500 years ago in Lumbini. That Lumbini was in Kiratdesh(today nepal). Lumbini is the greatest pilgrimage site for all the Buddhists from all over the world.
So India go and relearn your history.

@snorider I began studying science and neuroscience... and Neuro-linguistic-programing to understand the human mind and why it needs a God to make sense of the world... and I started looking for every clue that science would disprove religion... I was an atheist... and I went online and found videos and would just troll... and wait for someone to quote scripture so I can prove just how stupid they were to believe in God... and i did this for years... then one day I came across quantum physics

@snorider I thought "Jack Pot!" this science proves everything... the big bang... entanglement... quantum unified field... and how everything works at a quantum level... so I had proof to discredit every belief... and then I came across Buddhism... and I thought... this should be easy... they're peaceful they probably don't fight with the other religions because they are the weakest and would surely lose the fight... then I started to read about the Buddha...

@snorider he was a prince... and gave it all up to end suffering... then he practiced yoga... looked and looked for the answer in many different way as he could and nothing that the other teachers taught... could end his suffering... so one day he focused his attention inward and what he found was that in the stillness of his mind... he was free from suffering... he was experiencing life for the first time without suffering because he was fully present in the moment.... -cont

@snorider and I began to cry... because for once, my mind was silent... my habitual thinking that told me God was stupid, that i needed to be right, that i wasn't good enough, that i was sure there was no God... was gone... just silence in my mind... silence and deep inner peace.... my girlfriend touched my head and i could feel for the first time fully present in the moment... and i cried... because the force of energy that was flowing through me cannot be named so people call it God...

Quantum physics' unified field explained THe Buddha's teachings of Stillness... and universal energy.... and I realized that this force we label as God... occupies infinite space... and is fully present in every infinitesimal particle... and when i am in the present moment fully aware... I was convinced that I found a spiritual practice that science could prove and that proves God/universe/energy whatever you want to call it... it is in everything and everyone... you could be happy and free from suffering... when you realize that it's only Temporary....

@calmsnowfall that was my problem too, wanting. the simple act of "wanting" brings the ego into being. It's best to become aware of the drifting away. The moment you bring your attention to the fact that you began to drift away in thought you are in the NOW. When you begin to think, be aware that you did it by "Saying to yourself, "I drifted in thought and I accept it. I will focus on my breathing"
i take a deep breath and fully witness that process. You are there

Once you are there, even if it's only 3 seconds, you are there... focused and aware of your breathing, then the thought "WOW I DID IT" comes in and your out of it again, but then you realize that you are out and begin to breath again and be aware of that.
The more you practice this in silence the more you realize you can do that in your daily live situations and bring yourself into awareness more and more until it becomes your daily state. don't rush it, surrender to it. Let it BE
