tampax, i have first hand evidence of the 250 euro game. the greeks formed the omonia organization in albania during and just after our pyramid scheme. small aircraft flew over the south dropping leaflets and bands of greeks came over the border putting graffiti on the walls in greek language. other strange things happened, like the burning of hypotecas (buildings with archives about property ownership), something no pure thief would bother to do since there is no money or gold in there.

then came the first experience of the albanian immigrants crossing the border, the police asked them to give a greek name or else they cannot go. they were told in greece that if they accept the greek name and the orthodox church, they can get normalized papers and eventually citizenship.

I agree that there are many Albanian economic immigrants who work their asses off for a better life and have achieved it. I, for one, am proud of them.
Also, there is some evidence of police brutality because the powers that be cannot hide evidence efficiently, at least not in a DEMOCRATIC state like Greece. Thank God for that!

My communist friend balkancoolhead, is proposing the Albania Hoxha model...whereby the state confiscates all your property, churches are turned into stables, free speach is punishable by hanging, all nightclubs are shut down (do I hear a huge gasp from my Greek friends?), and all consumption is limited to bread, government produced canned goods, and olive drab clothing for the masses. Everyone in "government" would include only teens, from wealthy families, to run things (gays not allowed).

Just switch to any Greek channel and you might find out that there are at least 4 eye witnesses who are certain of what they saw: a policeman shooting an unarmed kid in cold blood. Unless if your people at the local cafeteria have persuaded you that the truth is different, then that should change your mind about the whole thing. I hope!!

forgive me for saying so, but that sounds like a conspiracy theory. Not the whole Greece and at least 4 eye witnesses could be part of that conspiracy theory against the police or could they? I personally have nothing against anyone but surely I want justice for what happened and the witnesses they seem to be normal people (not Anarchists or trouble makers) who take no sides but honestly say what they saw. the current problems in greece are the result of 25 years of socialism. kids cant find jobs necause businesses cant lay off workers and reinvest and rejuvenate. one cant even hire workers part time! greece needs total libration of labor and markets. also education in greece sucks because there are no private universities to provide competion for the public ones!! greeks generally expect the govt to hand them everything!
