One of the main reasons I am going to vote for Obama is because of Palin and McCain's views and intentions with Roe v Wade. I could not imagine an America where females do not have the right to get an abortion, especially if they were raped, even worse by a family member. I really wish they'd change their views. Soldiers aren't supposed to 'defend a nation', that was not their initial purpose. There are two sections of 'warriors', the Territorial Army firstly, (National Guard to you). These are charged with home defense. The military is the power-force. They are the trump card, they are the invaders you use when needed. The 'unnecessary deathes' are collateral damage, which is common in war. You know, the London Blitz? America nuking Japan. Twice.

Al Qaeda actually hold power in Iraq too. Hence all the kidnappings and the videos they appeared in during and after the war? Also, the whole dictatorship thing and lack of human rights also played a part in the invasion. And of course. The Americans wanted oil, and if that upsets you, you aren't going to like the future. If new resources aren't found or new power sources made then there will be increasing fights for fuel.

Fenwolf, i agree that all those who join the military should be prepared to fight and die for their country, however they shouldnt be expected to face danger for no reason and should be given as much protection as possible.

You keep mentioning fire fighters, well guess what we attempt to protect firefighters from the worst dangers, not allowing them to enter if the risks are too great.

Also, thing about the protection for soldiers is, Iraq is quite an easy war in truth. The suicidal attacks do cause damage but the enemy are actually quite bad at fighting, so its not TOO bad for ya. So they are quite protected in truth. My problem with your government (and my own) is that they aren't supplying enough body armour and ammo for the troops. Like thats just poor from the UK and the US. :P

Sorry but the connection between 9/11 and Iraq is non existent. Afghanistan was 100% Justified and it was backed by NATO and authorized by the United Nations.

Iraq had not attacked America, invasion was not an act of self defense, the UN gave no authorization for invading making the war illegal.

Al Qeada are not just the Taliban. The Taliban protected AL Qeada in Afghanistan which is why the western forces invaded and removed the taliban from power.

Al Qeada is in Iraq now, thats fact and some of their leadership and 1000s of supporters have been killed there.

America is in Iraq helping the Iraqi government and armed forces grow in strenght so they can defend their own country from extremists within. Training an army from scratch takes ALOT of time and money.

Currently Americans have over 100,000 troops in Iraq that are in a war zone. The Iraq war should be the most important consideration in the American election and peoples choices are clear.
