Idk why but in still expecting to here mikas voice on a blank black screen at the very end of the song saying " welcome home" -or was that marias ? Either way this was the best anima I've ever seen EVER! Cowboy bebop comes next
@gxman93 The theme played at the end was not 'Bitter ending' from the 1st OST, but 'Happy ending' from the 2nd OST (sadly not available on YouTube, but I can upload it in the near future.)
In my opinion gungrave is based on "Scarface" (Harry Mcdowel-Tony Montana) going to the top, thinks like this, and then the fall of all when the world is yours
even 4 a kid like me... i can understand wat brandon wants... actually me and brandon have same purpose... even though were silent... to never betray!
@Momentum139 Hahaha, yeah. I liked that scene in the game, but when it appeared in the animé, I was on the edge of my seat, hoping it would somehow not happen. But Harry screaming BRAAAAAAAAAANNNDOOOOOOOOONN!! seemed strangely appropriate, even better than the little speech he gives in the game.
Actually I played Overdose first! XD I bought it on a whim and was blown away by how awesome it was. Then I tracked down the original game, beat that and then watched the anime last.
I feel that way, in a mild manor. It was incredibly depressing though. Especially for me, because I watched it as a 13 year old. (Obviously I didn't understand about emotions as I do now.)
I think I prefer the animés ending. Very emotional, and brilliantly done. It made a terrific final episode to an awesome series that lost it a teensy little bit towards the end.
There was this guy's comment I remember reading on one of the next-to-last videos of Gungrave here and I never want to forget what he said about the ending.
"...Everybody is falling apart either physically or mentally. Anyone who isn't, is already dead or dying."
Somehow, like what you just said, that description has given this anime an even sweeter flavor for me. I love the anime's ending too, the game is great when I feel I need "awesomeness" but the anime is just...embracing.
The progression of events, the development of every individual character, the symbolism and philosophies of them all, the music tone representing every gravital shift from plot to detail to even a costume change or aging, and sure as hell the awesome background this series was based on. This is what it takes to make a good anime, hell, a legendary one, even if it was short-lived.
You almost begin to feel like you're aging WITH the characters, watching this series felt like a long time for me.
btw I like the anime but it sorta took a turn from what I thought it would be, I thought it would of been alittle like helising(sp) or what ever it's called, don't get me wrong I loved the anime but a little more action would of been nice. and of course I love the music in the game and anime, smooth jazz and what not.
lol i know exactly what u mean with him stepping out looking all badass and killing monsters but frankly i preffered it the way it was cause for me the plot is more important than all those flashy effects...mostly.
Oh man...didnt they play this song when Kugashira Bunji died! No man..."Anici" (brother or bro') man...he was soo cool...im bout to cry just thinking about how sad this show is....
they also played it when brandon was shot out of the elevator. the part where he says "i remember a blue sky...i remember the pure white clouds...i remember...i...remember..."
@shinofreak011 YES! I listened, after a long time, to a song by Maximum the Hormone called 'Koi No Mega Lover'. One of the lines in it features the word 'Aniki', and it brought back memories of Kugashira Bunji referring to Brandon in that way. He was my most favourite character in it as well, aside from Bear Walken. What a tragic state of affairs.

It's pretty hard to not get a little sad when listening to this. It really shows alot about the series. It's really sad, but the music is so good that you have to keep listening.

the greatest nostalgic scene, when they put this music.
i think and i ask myself, how they can get a lot of nostalgic in this anime, maybe they must have some very sad in their life to make this music.

i don't really watch Gungrave but one day I saw it on tv and found out it was the very last episode..
