Roy and eeve you are prolly the best vlogger/reviewer on youtube, i will honestly watch all your videos, also TBH without sounding too pervertish (even though im 14 and it's kinda my thing) your voice os hawt
This is the only review of hers I've seen, & I downloaded it months ago. It gives me joy when I am feeling down & need to restore my faith in all things Doctor Who.
the only doctors i like is william hartnell, david tennent and matt smith is because they all act like the same person, but the others act totally different
A fun and very articulate review, although you rely on the quick cutting too much. We're very lucky that the Daleks were created with two flaws that prevented them from conquering the universe -- rigid, mechanistic patterns of thought and behavior, and an inability to climb stairs.
uh, yes the sexism was present in the series in the beginning - why? well, gee.. it was present in society, perhaps? i wish people could stop banging on about it.
what are you gonna do about it? edit the stuff to make it *GASP* politically correct?!?! NO THANKS...
Literate, well-reasoned, professional and confident. I wish everyone on the net could be as professional with their reviews. Well done, Eevee. Cheers!
@ hcvang - you are correct though, and its another annoying oversight that sol-called fans make - most newbies aren't even aware that a TARDIS can take any shape or form. And despite what ol' Russell has told you guys in the new series, it does NOT look like a police box because the Doctor fancies that shape - all TARDI are fitted with "chameleon circuits" that allow the TARDIS to change its outward appearance based on its environment. The Doctor's chameleon circuit is BROKEN.
@sixstanger00 - Yes, but he has stated (in the TV Movie and "Boomtown") that he likes the shape, which is why he's long since stopped trying to fix the chameleon circuit.
Agreed, but that isn't the reason it looks like a Police Box. Like or dislike, the TARDIS looks like a police box because the circuit which provides it with information allowing it to determine a new exterior appearance is broken. The Doctor being partial to the police box form is why the circuit isn't fixed, NOT why the TARDIS looks the way it does.
I just watched the first 2 epiodes of season 1 and loved it. Although I have to say that it is the only show that I've seen where they fight living manacines and haunted trash cans, and the audience is expected to take it seriously.
@sixstanger00 Yeah, I hate when people think the 2005 season is the first season, and people rave about it as if it's the best NEW show EVER... "Uh, dude.. it started in '63."
Thats an issue I touch on often in my video reviews of RTDs stories. More often than not, RTD has led new viewers to believe that there is no original series - RTDs take on the introduction of the DW universe is how LUCAS introduced us to the Star Wars universe - we started out following two droids crashing on a desert world... The history of DW is treated as unseen backstory events. Really grinds my gears, because the resurrection was INTENDED to be a CONTINUATION.
I blame Russell for RUINING it! The show was at it's best in the sixties and seventies, a few ups and downs in the eighties, but the people who were involved always kept it the same tone. Russelll has completely messed it up, and I agree with you, I enjoyed Paul's Doctor and it's nice Big Finish kept his Doctor going.
@borgduck You need the 8th Doctor's WONDERFUL audio adventures, of which he has had MANY seasons - stories from which have been source of inspiration for new series episodes.
It shouldn't really make you upset because its suppose to be a serious program and not something to get tearful over and lastly its excellent to British and have a great show like Dr.who
Your Points are very true but actually there not because the sets were wobbly and if something fell over they'd have to keep it because they had to keep filming no matter what...Very Intellegent reasoning and Confident knowledge...Very good and also funny too :)
You Know this whole not counting Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor thing, it's just nuts, and for no other reason than that it was a TV movie.
By that reasoning I guess we shouldn't count, The Christmas Invasion, The Runaway Bride, Voyage of the Damned, The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, ect....
The way I see it, his was just the first a long line of TV films.
What a lovely video. :] I have to admit I'm not a Doctor/Rose shipper by any means and I've sadly only seen the new series (save for a few clips here and there), but I found this entertaining and great quality. ^_^ Good review!
re: liking the way they carried on regardless in early who when things went wrong- a lot of this is due to the lack of budget even effecting the use of film, so unless something when really wrong- the whole set falling down, that sort of thing- everything was printed on the first usable take, to the extent of cutting out editing costs by basically filming live on multiple sets in the studio, so you can see patrick troughton wheezing from running between one set and another in some old episodes..

A great review, And yes the 8th Doctor HAS to be included, never mind that he only appeared in a movie, there are many books featuring the 8th doctor and an audio series
Paul McGann shouldn't count? GASP! Bad, BAD mum! Hehe, I joke, kinda wish he could come back for a one-off Time War movie or something, he was a great Doctor.
I, too, am hoping for a 'oh my, Ten meets Eight!' special, but I doubt it'll ever happen. For one thing, Paul McGann has refused to ever wear that wig again. Thanks for the comment! ~~Eevee
Yeah that would be cool and I'm sure there'd be ways of getting around that wig thing. After all, RTD can make up a reason to get Rose back, they can make an excuse about the hair i.e:
Ten (to Eight): What? I don't recall looking like that!! Wasn't it a little bushier? Oh wait...yes, I remember now, in a moment of drunken stupidity I stuck my head in the randomisation circuit of the TARDIS and Voila...
Out of curiosity how much Doctor Who stuff do you own? I only ask because I am trying to find someone to rival my collection (which is still growing) that I started in 1990. I own a copy of every classic story as well as all the new series (except 4). I also own 2 1/2 seasons of the 8th Doctor Audios which I am steadily buying. As well as 8 factual books covering up to new series 2. And three novels. I also have a makeshift David Tennant costume and at least 15 toys. Thanks for your time:)
Excellent review! Quite patriotic really *salutes the union jack and sips his tea with pinky extended* ~D| <-- tea cup art :)
But I was thinking more about Torchwood. You know, in Buffy, their investigative team was fondly called "The Scoobies". Since Torchwood is...Well....Heavy on the sexual content. Would it not be appropriate to call the Torchwood team "The Shaggies"? *drum beat/cymbal crash* lol =D
i totally agree, with 1 qualifier on the special effects and costumes. the cybermen in the new series are COMPLETELY lame. "Delete!! Delete!!" PLEASE!
Hey Eevee , dont know if you've read any of my previous messages or not , but ive been wondering what you've been doing recently as i havint seen any new videos made by you at all .
Still , i hope you do a review on my page or my Power Rangers video , actually as it's Children in Need tonight with the Peter and David Doctor Who spoof you cound review that as well , maybe .
Good for you! I completely agree - although someone appears not to - a thumbs down?! For my little Paul?! Nowai! *gives her Paul a thumbs up* ^^ ~~Eevee
For as long as ive been a Doctor Who fan , ive never expected a female fan would ever be interested in doing a review on anything Doctor Who related , but it makes a change from seeing other guys like myself doing reviews which is good .
No offence , but you do sound like Kiera Knightly from Pirates of the Carabian , i could help but want to mention that , sorry ! .
Thanks for your comment Eevee , it made me laugh , even with the " blokes " bit even thou im 19 , but i dont mind being called a block at all , still , Kiera is posh voice wise i agree .
Haha, brilliant ;DD I too only just stumbled onto the new series this past winter (thanks to a Doc/Rose-addicted friend, who is also a classic fan) and have been hooked ever since... I havent yet seen the old stuff tho (since getting hooked anyways; I'm pretty sure I caught a bunch of eps in syndication on PBS (free channel that adopted DW for US fans) thru the early 90s...)) but I'm getting a lot of exposure to it working thru the Confidentials ;D Thx for the awesome review!!
I can't recommend any editing software - not my field of expertise. But I recognise talent when I see it. I posted a link in my blog - hope you don't mind.
Brilliant. The best online review I'v ever seen. And you're completely right - Paul McGann is an excellent Doctor, and I wouldn't give him up for toffee. Here's to being a whovian
lol you really are brilliant at these online reviews - ever the entertaining and informative person. Keep up the fantastic work. (Ignore that reply by doctorh2005, that was me, but my bro forgot to sign out of HIS account before i got on here Grr)
Well I'm very glad you think so. If no one was enjoying them...I'd probably still do them just to be annoying, but it's better when people are giving compliments rather than throwing insults. ^-~ ~~Eevee
Thanks you! I enjoy your reviews. If you do your own editing you have real promise. For the Vampireskunk, there is only one Dr Who......the grouchy old man, Bill Hartnell
Yep, I do the editing myself on Windows Movie Maker (although I'm thinking about getting myself a better programme if you have any suggestions). And I do love watching William Hartnell...he has a charm all his own...^^ ~~Eevee
Have to admit, your reviews are certainly original. I live in America as well, and sheesh, I've gotten 3 of my friends addicted to Doctor Who. We even pulled a Tennant in the movie theater(Evolution of the Daleks) and stood on top of the seats. (we had the room all to ourselves that Tuesday night)
Oh I do strive for originality...^-~ I wish I could've joined you in your Tennanting...and I'm glad you liked the review and took the time to comment. ^^ ~~Eevee
Being a 15-year-old American girl, I know absolutely NO ONE who is a Doctor Who fan (or has even seen the classic series), which is a problem because I'm a huge one. And I always got the impression that Doctor Who, at least the classic series, was only watched by middle-aged British men. So thanks for making me feel like I'm not alone in the world!
Btw, I know you like Chris Eccleston, but who's your favorite classic doctor, if you don't mind my asking?
Ohh you'd be surprised...there is a huge teenage girl fanbase over here, and on the Internet, if you know where to look. ^-~ As for classic Doctors...I think they all have their charms, but of the ones I've seen, Paul McGann is my favourite, very closely followed by Peter Davison and Jon Pertwee. At the moment anyway, I change my mind all the time because I really do love them all. Thanks so much for your comment. ~~Eevee
its been almost an age since i last saw your reviews, but sitting down with a (great) cup of tea lol i was suddenly reminded of the best review of a one of, if not the best tv shows ever. eevee, from one fellow whovian to another, you rock = D any chance of a review for the trilogy from 'utopia - last of the time lords' ? i know you would do it justice x
You know what, I might just do that...just because it's you and you've been so very complimentary...^-~ If I get a bit of time tomorrow, I'll rewatch the eps (like that'll be too much of a chore) and put something together for you. Which means hopefully it should be up before the end of the week, but no guarantees - my Internet is crappy. Thanks for your lovely comments. ^-^ ~~Eevee
thanks for replying so soon, its good to see that you appreciate your fans x (of which i am probably ur no. 1) i watched last of the time lords again last night, and i cant help but cry with laughter when the titanic crashes into the tardis lol and omg Captain jack = the face of boe = )
Eevee, that's a very enjoyable review. A little bit of humor, a good bit of insight, and all in all very fair to this fine, long-running show.
And yes, Paul McGann counts. He's on all the official websites, and BBC did have half a hand in his TV movie (the better half, probably, and I'm saying that on the Fox side of the Pond). Anyway, keep that Doctor Who pride strong!
paul mcgann should've been the current dr from start of series 1, cos he had the looks and dresses as a timelord, altho i do like david tennant but the suit is average for timelord wear and tear but i do hope he aint a fan of greenday
I do think Paul McGann should have been given more screen time than he's actually had as the Doctor...but I understand the BBC's reasoning behind making a fresh start with Eccleston and Tennant. At least we have the audio adventures. ^-^ ~~Eevee
Ohhh that's so incredibly sweet! I would love to play Romana - she's my kind of Time Lady. Of course, if the oppurtunity ever arises I would jump at the chance to be the Doctor too, or even a companion. Or even a random nameless extra! And yes, be proud...be very proud. ~~Eevee
*shrug* I just find analysing things interesting. It's probably because I take subjects like English Lit, Drama, Psychology, RS...if you do that kind of thing for long enough, it makes you want to pick apart even things that other people think are a waste of time. ~~Eevee
Hurrah! You are very funny, articulate and clear. I enjoyed this bit a lot.
As a half-Brit myself, I can gladly appreciate the spirit that kept the show alive for 26 consecutive seasons, and the franchise for another two decades!
And thank you very, VERY much for not glossing over Paul McGann. Yes, the canon is iffy, but they were dealing with stupid Americans like me, so certain allowances must be taken. And of course, the Big Finish audios with Eight are genius as well!
Oh I must agree. Paul McGann does very well in the audios (and the books aren't half bad either)...and at least it means we still get to hear his beautiful voice...^-^ Glad you enjoyed. ~~Eevee
Paul Mcgann was a great Doctor, also Russell T. Davies writes an article in the Doctor Who Annual 2006 about the Time War which says President Romana of Gallifrey signs a treaty involving the "Act of Master Restitution" with the Daleks. The exact terms of the treaty are not elaborated on, but the Act suggests that part of it was the handing over of the Master to the Daleks. Also the Dalek voice was an accident in editing when the voice was speeded up (not intentionally).
Hey Eevee, have you ever been on DocWho website? It has webcasts including Eight in Shada (with the lovely Romana II and K9)? Also has e-books and pixs.
Wow...thank you so much. I got your email and I'm just about to check out the film you suggested on Wikipedia. Thanks for your comments and for subscribing - it really means a lot to both of us. ~~Eevee
Hope you can help me. The Sci-fi channel has been broadcasting the new Dr. Who series. Unfortunatly with my crazy work schedule I've only seen 3 or for episodes. I was hopeing you could tell me: Is the new series a continuation of the original or is it a new beginning?
The new series of Doctor Who is meant to be a continuation of the classic series, although obviously it's been reinvented for a modern day audience. It picks up with the Ninth Doctor (Chris Eccleston), following on from Paul McGann's Eight Doctor (who appeared in the TV Movie). I hope you catch a few more episodes - it's worth watching! ~~Eevee
Peter Kay. Because he ruined an otherwise passable episode. Sctually, scrap that, the episode in itself was poor. I loved the character of Elton, but I couldn't help feeling that someone of Marc Warren's talent would have done better off in a proper episode, rather than a bit of glorified fanfiction...
I totally agree, I h8 that episode. It's like the only episode I CAN'T watch. My fave episode is probably girl in the fireplace, school reunion or fear her.
I have to say i loved this review! Unfortunately i havent been able to see any of the old series as Christopher Eccleston was my first and i can't get hold of some of the older ones but i deffinately have an obsession! Doctor who makes me proud to be Brittish and as for shipping i'm right up there with you.
Chris is definitely *my* Doctor too, but I do have an extreme fondness for Paul McGann. If you're a Brit you should be able to get classic DVDs in places like Forbidden Planet, but there's always the website Amazon (trusty trusty Amazon). Glad you enjoyed! ~~Eevee
Ahh well, don't forget, the magic of the Internet makes it possible for that ocean to be well and truly bridged...*waves Union Flag enticingly* Thanks very much for watching and commenting.~~Eevee
Hello fellow Whovian. I have Tennant specs and a trenchcoat on standby just in case. I also have my trackies (I don't tend to wear them, a la "Oh my GOD... I'M A CHAV!") You are full of amazingness as always.
I really loved this review! It was very interesting. You carried it out in a witty manner without crossing the overachieving fence. I am an American fan of the show and I love the British-ness of it. Not that I'm the best judge of any of that, but I like it nonetheless. Anyway, the review was ace.
Thank you! I love getting any sort of comment, even if people disagree - shows that at least people have an opinion on what I do. But of course, I prefer it when people have enjoyed watching my stuff! ~~Eevee
Really good review, you are quite funny too. I'm an American that got into Doctor Who from the start of the new series. Since then I have been trying to catch up on all the classic episodes and get the dvds. My favorite doctors are the 2nd the 6th and the 10th. I also agree that Paul McGann is a great doctor. I did enjoy the movie despite the flaws in it and i have been listening to the big finish audios expanding his stint. They are quite enjoyable.
Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it. I've been trying to catch up on the classic series too and the 6th is a Doctor I have yet to watch. And I really want some audio adventures!! Thanks for commenting. ~~Eevee
If you're waiting for a female Doctor, just wait until my fanisodes are up! I've always wondered what the Doc would be like as a girl, and now I have the means(however painstakingly slow and annoying to edit) to do so! Also, check out our Torchwood/Doctor Who discussion vids!

But Cushing played a hman whose name really was "Dr. Who". Also, Sylvester McCoy started off as The Doctor in the '96 movie.

Anyways, nice review/rant.

...You are the coolest person EVER.
Lemmy15 4 years ago

Angelus82 4 years ago
You know what, I might just do that...just because it's you and you've been so very complimentary...^-~ If I get a bit of time tomorrow, I'll rewatch the eps (like that'll be too much of a chore) and put something together for you. Which means hopefully it should be up before the end of the week, but no guarantees - my Internet is crappy. Thanks for your lovely comments. ^-^ ~~Eevee

Anyway, keep that Doctor Who pride strong!
miekitsune 4 years ago
Thank you very very much. It's always so gratifying to hear from the true fans...so thanks for your comment. ^-^ Yays for Paul McGann! ~~Eevee

paul mcgann should've been the current dr from start of series 1, cos he had the looks and dresses as a timelord, altho i do like david tennant but the suit is average for timelord wear and tear but i do hope he aint a fan of greenday
matt2house 4 years ago
I do think Paul McGann should have been given more screen time than he's actually had as the Doctor...but I understand the BBC's reasoning behind making a fresh start with Eccleston and Tennant. At least we have the audio adventures. ^-^ ~~Eevee

lozherbz 4 years ago
*shrug* I just find analysing things interesting. It's probably because I take subjects like English Lit, Drama, Psychology, RS...if you do that kind of thing for long enough, it makes you want to pick apart even things that other people think are a waste of time. ~~Eevee
RoyAndEevee 4 years ago
AquinasBunny 4 years ago
Oh I must agree. Paul McGann does very well in the audios (and the books aren't half bad either)...and at least it means we still get to hear his beautiful voice...^-^ Glad you enjoyed. ~~Eevee
RoyAndEevee 4 years ago
Also the Eye of Harmony may be in all Tardis' which is connected to the main one on Gallifrey.
GeordieDan89 4 years ago
Paul Mcgann was a great Doctor, also Russell T. Davies writes an article in the Doctor Who Annual 2006 about the Time War which says President Romana of Gallifrey signs a treaty involving the "Act of Master Restitution" with the Daleks. The exact terms of the treaty are not elaborated on, but the Act suggests that part of it was the handing over of the Master to the Daleks. Also the Dalek voice was an accident in editing when the voice was speeded up (not intentionally).
GeordieDan89 4 years ago
Hey Eevee, have you ever been on DocWho website? It has webcasts including Eight in Shada (with the lovely Romana II and K9)? Also has e-books and pixs.

Hope you can help me. The Sci-fi channel has been broadcasting the new Dr. Who series. Unfortunatly with my crazy work schedule I've only seen 3 or for episodes. I was hopeing you could tell me: Is the new series a continuation of the original or is it a new beginning?
openmind1969 4 years ago
The new series of Doctor Who is meant to be a continuation of the classic series, although obviously it's been reinvented for a modern day audience. It picks up with the Ninth Doctor (Chris Eccleston), following on from Paul McGann's Eight Doctor (who appeared in the TV Movie). I hope you catch a few more episodes - it's worth watching! ~~Eevee

Just corouis as to what parts about he new series you don't like???
ngates87 5 years ago
Peter Kay. Because he ruined an otherwise passable episode. Sctually, scrap that, the episode in itself was poor. I loved the character of Elton, but I couldn't help feeling that someone of Marc Warren's talent would have done better off in a proper episode, rather than a bit of glorified fanfiction...
RoyAndEevee 5 years ago
haha, thats actually from an episode i didn't watch because ive been so disappointed with the second series.
ngates87 5 years ago
I totally agree, I h8 that episode. It's like the only episode I CAN'T watch. My fave episode is probably girl in the fireplace, school reunion or fear her.

I have to say i loved this review! I really loved this review! It was very interesting. You carried it out in a witty manner without crossing the overachieving fence. I am an American fan of the show and I love the British-ness of it. Not that I'm the best judge of any of that, but I like it nonetheless. Anyway, the review was ace.
