The KTM driver was just getting a feel for his car and Lotus was driving his heart out. Let's see this again with both drivers skilled and determined.

Std KTM is entertaining at 240 BHP. Up it to 360 like mine (BDM360) and it's face bendingly mental. As a Pro-Drive engineer described it "Weapon's grade motoring" :-)

Clearly you overtook the x-bow's DRIVER, (he acknowledged you were faster and let you pass) I have my doubts on the x-bow though, even a highly race modified exige would have a hard time keeping up with such a thing.

I have it on good authority that with two equally skilled drivers the x-bow would spank the elise (great as it is) all day long, especially so when the engine on the elise fails :P

from 1:42 when the x-bow started accelerating you can clearly see that lotus is no competition at all.. and on 1:56 when x-bow started breaking he moved on the right side of the track to let him pass by.... its clear that the x-bow driver was in no hurry :)

you must be a genious! how can you tell from an onboard video which engine it has? if you want to come by and take a look in my engine bay - it IS a bog standard rover K16 engine WITH A BROKEN EXHAUST (last year in june when this was filmed it was broken). :-)

But you even admit that if the KTM Xbow wouldn't be just mostly test driving the car, he would have done it much faster.

But then again it all comes down to the driver in these cars.

My Elise is an early Model S1 with a standard Rover engine (120 bhp) and a broken exhaust. If the driver of the X-Bow wasn´t only testing the car he could have been almost 30s qicker a lap.

Nice driving.. seemed like the KTM Driver might have been taking it a bit easier on the track.. maybe a less experienced driver? Lotus are a beautiful machine and no doubt can compete.. but I wonder if the driver of the Lotus would have overtaken himself if he were driving the X-Bow.. Notice the X-Bow keeps on driving.. LOL.. It's a long push back to the pits!! Great Vid!

The KTM left you like you were standing still in the straights when he actually got on it. Not everybody on the track is driving their hardest, you know. I wouldn't use this experience as a benchmark for the X-Bow.

My Elise is Standard except the broken exhaust (hence the weird sound) and the tyres (Toyo R888). The X-Bow was cruising, otherwise I wouldn´t have a chance.

In the end the inboard C.V. joint gaiter melted because of hot exhaust gases from the broken flex section. Grease was distributed all over the engine and hot exhaust -> white smoke.
