  • these were the best years for music there was loads of good indie bands about, turn back the clock and lets all go back get pissed and pop pills

  • you aint wrong there

  • Oh for the late 80's/early 90's. Wedge haircuts, Tacchini, Fila, Lacoste, Peter Storm and the terrace culture. Happy daze

  • those were the days!!

  • wat about the band Spitfire and Ride saw them loads in my youth

them days were bliss oh yeh sultans wen i was in hyper mode hahaha , my god im a responsible adult now with loads of moneeeyyyyyyyyyyyyy however my inner shoe child loves this track.

people were far more chilled out in them days and not so nobby

  • inspiral carpets and the charlatans were

madchester for me. have all their stuff.

    Best time of my life.

  • all the madchester groups out at this time were the mutts nuts

  • they took part stone roses, part happy mondays and blended them together

  • Yes they were part of Madchester.

  • Was this band classed as one of the "Generation X" bands?? and where they apart of Madchester??

  • Generation X bands ... how lame assed is that definition.

This band was part of the Madchester scene, any other label beyond that is meaningless.

  • No bands like this anymore.

  • i cant wait till i can get to the cd shop, gunna get my hands on as much charlatans as o have money

  • 1.10am cant sleep dont want to this is keeping me up but it is brilliant -wow where does all that talent come from and go to.

  • the talent comes from the stone roses

  • You know what youre right or are you?

  • I am right

  • I've got a telly like that, don't work tho, anyone know anyone who fixes em?

  • That fella that used to work at Rumbelows fixes em, Lives next door to the chippy on the high street.

ColinTrunt what a great name, I may steal it for use elsewhere.

  • Good ain't it?

I thus expect you have spotted the significance of it, you are welcome to steal it but remember I was the first ;O)

  • Lol, cheers.

    I will remember.

  • Klas Choon Klass Band End Of....

  • Check out Tims hair ! Realyy bad

  • 1990

  • never ages.. charlies, inspirals , the cream of madchester..

  • Except the Charlies were from the Midlands, bar Mr. Burgess.

  • Make one what?

  • smile :)

  • what's with all the anger and swearing?? Would not have thought that this song would make you act in such a bad mannered fashion. Would have thought it would make one :)

  • Would have thought it would make one: what?

  • still a fkn ace intro..fkn love it

  • I BLEED alt. 80's. "everybody knows the pain"

  • BANGING.

  • INFECTIOUS!!

  • I agree. fuck off cunt

  • This video would really be good if I could friging hear more than three words at a time so I could understand the song. I have your cd Charalatans Uk love the keyboard work would love to get more of your stuff however also want to check it out more so as to make an intelligent decision as to what fits my fancy.

  • shut up n go with it u prick (im guessing youre a yank!

  • Get fucked you big tosser.

  • my spelling ain't getting any better with age

  • I loved this band...this is still as good a song as you'll ever hear...I almost don't feel like a guy sppeding towards his 40's listening to this right now

  • I really loved this band, when I was 16 I tried so hard to dress and look like the lead singer. I'm such a pathetic yankee, got me girls though! the Manchester look works really well in the autumn here in california.

  • would you talk in ONE decade and stick to it,..

    (past tense/present tense, etc.)

Somehow I think the Birmingham look is going to look better now....that's what we're hearrrrring.

  • Birmingham look in a California fall? I'll take it! do I start with the haircut or the clothes?

  • I remember it well, but I can't say that the fashion has aged as well as the music.

  • townclose,

im sure people who grew up in the late 70s said the same thing about the 50s and 60s when punk and disco came about

adapt and grow. there is always good music, you just have to look for it and HAVE AN OPEN MIND!

  • the indie music scene now is solid

  • fuck off cunt

  • i remember buying this and life by

inspiral carpets on the same day.

still playing the today. 1990 a vintage

    year...

  • I love this song, really good music

  • great song underrated band

  • roger that! Best time for music, late 80's early 90's - debatable, I know...

  • one of my fav song openings i know

  • This song rocks nuts ...

  • Brings back great memories of being 14-15....and sounds as good, if not better. The music has aged well.

  • A melhor música p mim!!

  • Awesome musicianship and sound........ ace lead singer in Tim Burgess. Parka Life :-)

  • Escutei essa musica no inicio dos anos 90 no espaço retro(velho e bom retro). Viajei varias e varias vezes nesse som e hoje ainda me faz sentir isso!

    Muuuuuuuito Foda

  • Dancing to the bones. Nunca tinha vista algo tão dançante. Procurei isso por mais de uma década, porque sempre brisava tanto ao ouvir que esquecia de perguntar ao DJ o que era. It took me way too long to find them Charlattains again, just for, in my musical ignorance, to learn it had the same singer. That´s where the smoothness lives. GENTE DANÇANTE! WEIRD FEMALE BODIES AND SOULS FREE ON THE DANCETRACK, Bob Marley e Fela Kuti boquiabertos ao pasmar "é, let the good times roll".

  • essa musica é muito boa!

  • Reminds me of my college days when I majored in pot, with a minor in LSD.

  • HAHAHAHA yeah, that about sums it up.

  • I had a double major...rolls and weed with the same minor and this song does the same!!

  • yeah, and now you're probably working as a professional janitor. way to go!

  • nice try...i'm in health care making a very nice salary. But thanks for your concern about my well-being!

  • Why the hostility? Relax - maybe YOU need a joint.

  • Great, great video and really cool song. The Charlatans rock! And Tim Burgess sounds amazing here.

  • Same scene from Manchester acid rock Karziflora, same influences, and same drugs used, so similar greatness, and it helps to be english.

  • Reminds me a bit of the Stone Roses.

  • Thanks for posting this. Wow.

  • Great band, great song. Thanks for the post.

  • if i had dr whos tardis, i would go back to

    1990 forever. inspiral carpets, roses,

    mondays, charlatans, james, RIDE...

    TOP THAT,,,

  • same being alive now is just not as good

  • Reminds me of " Schule - Der Film"

  • Still love 'Some Friendly;' to this day!! Summer of '90, after graduating Penn State. This album is in my top 5!!!

  • All class!

  • Kralho

    Viajo d+ nesse som

    xD

  • Deep Purple-Hush

  • Very.

  • You've got a point, but a great song AND album nonetheless!

  • I agree totally. Great music. I worked at a record store from 1988 to 1995 and a lot of great music came out during those years. Jellyfish, Eleven, Toy Matinee, The Grays, Catherine Wheel, Loud Sugar, Overwhelming Colorfast, Spent Poets, E, Parthernon Huxley, R.E.M., Robin Hitchcock, Eric Matthews, The The, etc...............

  • is this Shaun Rider at 3:05 ?

  • Another great bad of the past why cannot music still be like this today

  • I love Manchester, and everything english, well maybe not the colonial stuff, but they more than made up for it by becoming such a great progressive nation now,

    England and America forever together!!

  • yeeerrr! england + merikka, bff

  • great band! always one album away from making it mainstream though which was a shame? ove this song, reminds me of the 90's and being young ha ha ha, so long ago........

  • @ IrishFrankfurter...

Thats it... It gives you always the "Schule-feeling" back! I love that film!

  • thanks a jem !!! wished i have writen it !

  • Great! This song sends shivers down my spine!

  • is it me or do they sound n look like magic stone roses... oooh maybe it is just me... great track to... feet want to move on their own...

  • yeah they do mate :) i love the roses!

  • thay remind me of t first roses' album... i've heard bits n bobs bout t charlatans b4 but i've never listened 2 m tho... it's really good track... 90's pop music... anythin else should b prohibited... tehe... music like that should b praised cos it reminds us how GREAT BRITISH MUSIC was... not that modern electronic pimp-like rhymes these days... long live rock... UNITED KINGDOM of GOOD MUSIC...

  • sorry, i love the charlatans but have they really elevated themselves as a band since about 1998?musically? yes. the fanbase, stretching their wings? no theyre still playing venues they would have been playing in 1995

  • george comercialism is not t only way 2 create good music... in t matter of fact all that commercial sh*t kills real talents... that what makes a good music so good- fanbase n believin in somethin else than golden chains... quotin minkey king: WE'RE MORE THAN STONES AND RINGS OF GOLD!!! word!

  • This is the theme song of the german movie "Schule" (School) which is as brilliant as the song itself!

  • The similarities with Oasis are quite striking,Similar sound, both from Manchester, and two stroppy brothers as the backbone of the band(although Tim Burgess is the one that gives them the distinct Charlatans vibe).Although the Charlatans well predate Oasis.

  • like fool's gold but better.

  • Couldnt agree more, Fools Gold is an epic tune though

  • of course

  • why is it called madchester when theyre all from the west midlands?

  • cos they made there name in, and did the majority of there gigs in manchester

  • they're from manchester n lead singer is from northwich

  • i seen them live in glasgow barrowland on my 1st acid trip ever and it was the bollox back in 93 wow am i that old now

  • headlining big top at isle of wight. Dont sound to good imho

  • i love these guys but i dare anyone to claim that the organ riff and the bass aren't Deep Purple's Hush on some speed and ecstasy.

  • i know the lead singer his brother lives in my village an ma dad used to hang around with him but he lives in america now

  • there not stone roses rip offs there just madchester, then you'd be sayin the roses ripped off happy mondays

  • i know ahen did the roses ever use a hammond organ youre right it was just all madchester

  • such a good tune man, wants to be ian brown to much though lol

  • 1990.... fuck yeah.... along with the Ocean Blue....... short lived groovin' sound these dudes..... Killler album.... 'Some Friendly'....

  • Good tune.....put i just have Deep Purple - Hush in my head when i listen to this. I keep expecting to hear NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA NAAAAA

  • They sound pretty different to me, there is a vague resemblance I guess but no more than that.

  • charlatans rocked back then, now they utterly suck

  • love his retro bowl cut
