really. it isnt humane to kill a house mouse like that. im not trying 2 start a scene, but feretts dont instantly kill their prey like spiders n snakes. its pretty cruel 2 do that
actually ferrets sever the spine of any animal they hunt, its quick and painless death.especially compared to a snake, which will either slowly suffocate the mouse of poison it or the spider which would also poison it. neither of them are instant.
While foaming at the mouth, with little flecks of spittle hitting their keyboard and monitor, our esteemed debating partner, VoiceofWisdom80 states, "People don't like it sadists."
Do we:
A) drop the 'it'
B) add a comma after 'it'
C) drop the 'sadists'
D) drop the 'don't' and the 'it'
E) check the best-before date on the bag of mice and, if it's getting close, empty the remainder into the bathtub
now, we present The Very Best of VoiceOfWisdom80 (Vol I)

i had a snake.. i fed him large mice.. *every other person on youtube* "OMG UR SO CRUEL!!!" "HOW COULD U DO THAT!" "YOU SHOULD DIE" "ITS IN A CAGE THATS EVIL!!" lol shut the hell up.. this shit is normal
you know after looking at this video, it just explains itself why people love to wage wars and kill and rape million of innocents! We just have loads of sick humans like Bush, Blair and yes YOU!
Would love to see you throw in front of ferocious hungry lions in 20 ft bath tub and then we all would love to watch how that story would end ;)
If those ferrets are gonna eat the dead mice, ok at least it's food, but if that's just for fun and you're gonna throw the mice in the trash afterwards like they mean nothing, then I think that what you're doing is absolutely cruel to the mice.
and again to you anti-animal-suffering people, how do you dispatch fish when you catch them...do you let them suffocate slowly, or do you bash their brains in on some solid surface? Hmmm? Oh wait, you don't fish do you. You leave that dirty but necessary chore to the fishermen. Death is a part of life. And how do you feel about making the elderly and terminally ill live because of your country's euthanasia laws? Guess what. Life isn't fair and it isn't always "nice". So get over it.
@BigTurkey562001 What is your point? None of those acts you mention have anything to do with this video... and just because some slaughterhouse employee is a dirtbag doesn't mean this video is right.
Are you against people complaining against animal suffering? Seems like you practically condone the behaviour. This has nothing to do with "death being a part of life", don't use that bullshit to justify unnecessary cruelty.
@VoiceofWisdom80 I'll sum up my point in a way you will hopefully grasp. Ferrets sometimes eat live prey. This includes mice. It doesn't matter whether it's in the wilds of North Dakota, or in a white bathtub, or in your own backyard next to the tree you mother goes to when they let her outside to pee. When you complain about watching live prey being eaten, after being warned, you come across as inadvertently funny to the rest of us.
@BigTurkey562001 And what exactly is wrong about being anti-animal suffering? You're saying it like it's a BAD thing. Stop using this crappy head-in-the-sand logic, that life isn't fair or nice is besides the point. And don't use it to justify crap like this. If that were the case, I'd beat you over the head and not care if you're hurt because "life isn't fair".
Stop with the bullshit please. You're just using cheap excuses here.
So you watch a video about feeding live prey, which you were warned about (if you adjust your zoom you can actually see the warning, there in capital letters) and then get all high-and-mighty (you even took the name VoiceofWisdom...sounds like you take yourself pretty seriously. I, for one, do not). Dude. What is it about death that you do not understand. Death usually involves some form of suffering. That is reality. Not the reality you would prefer.
@BigTurkey562001 This has nothing to do with death. The sooner you realise this, the less of a fucking idiot you'll look like. You don't seem to understand the point that is being made by the people who oppose this video. It was a snuff film. It was unnecessary. It puts the ferrets at risk.
If you valve the reality of death so much, I may as well shoot you now. But of course, that would be morally wrong - now wouldn't it? That "death" is reality is completely BESIDES THE POINT.
@VoiceofWisdom80 "If I value the reality of death so much"?? And how does one value the reality of something. You sound like you're wandering haphazardly about, in search of a coherent thought. Yeah, you go ahead and shoot me because that supports your argument....uh....how, exactly? What exactly is your argument, anyway. Seems you are making five or six rather sketchy ones. Badly, I might add. And, that swearing tells me that your arguments are based on emotion rather than logic.
and since death usually involves some form of suffering, by decrying that you are making a pathetic attempt at condemning death itself. Not a very rational way of looking at the world. The only difference between this suffering and a slaughterhouse, or your relative who is terminally ill with cancer, is where it hurts and for how long. You cannot make an argument for where to draw the line on what we will allow, because this stuff happens naturally.
@BigTurkey562001 Suffering can be limited, regardless if death is the result. To induce it when it's avoidable/not necessary is immoral. Saying that you're against some idiot being cruel to a bunch of animals isn't condemning death at all, you're way off tangent here and so far away from the point that you're posting shit that's not relevant.
Just because the video has a disclaimer does not mean it's above criticism.
@VoiceofWisdom80 the presence of a bathtub in no way supports your argument that this is cruel. This is normal, it is what ferrets do to mice. Or are you too irrational to see that. Mice are food for many animals. "It puts the ferrets at risk"?? Ferrets are at risk 24/7 from all kinds of diseases and hazards. If you could prove that the ferrets didn't at least try to eat these mice after killing them, then you might have a point. Otherwise I think you're nuts.
and furthermore, every time a mouse is killed and eaten in the wild by another member of the weasel family, I'd like to know how much effort you put into protesting the suffering there. My guess is none, because you've accepted it as being a part of death, and a part of life. It's a law of the universe, just like "socialism doesn't work". You can deny it all you want, but it doesn't change what is.
@BigTurkey562001 We can't control what happens in the wild. A weasel kills another to eat, to survive. This stupid person did it to make a snuff film. You're moronic logic doesn't quite extend to morality, otherwise there'd be absolutely no problem murdering people.
Don't give me this "natural" bullshit. That argument goes out the window the second we see these animals in captivity. There are no bathtubs in the wild. At the end of the day, it was unnecessary cruel, end of.
@VoiceofWisdom80 oh, so you're okay with it when the mice are free-ranging? Well guess what, professor. Sooner or later the ferret will have them cornered at the end of some tunnel. That's not much different than trapped in a bathtub. Exactly how much of a headstart does the mouse need before you stop whining about the inhumanity of it? How long do you prefer to extend the mouse's terror-stricken flight from the oncoming ferret, before the ferret has the mouse dead to rights? Please tell.
"epic battle?" er, no. Anyway for those of you preaching about not killing animals or making them suffer, did you consider that beef that comes from a commercial slaughterhouse knows it's in trouble? Cattle next in line *know* something is wrong. Researchers have monitored their vitals, which shoot through the roof when they get close to the end of the line.
@sixsandsevensandsixs Your mother has a lot of sense. Maybe she should also refer you to a good psychologist so you can temper such disgusting behaviour?
@VoiceofWisdom80 how the fuck is feeding your pets disgusting behavior people like you should see psychologists fuck head don't watch something you don't like moron
@sixsandsevensandsixs Why the fuck would you WANT to give a ferret live mice other than to watch something die? It clearly doesn't need live animals, which means one thing: you enjoy watching your pet kill things. That's sick in the head, clearly. It's being done for entertainment, which is what makes it disgusting. If you want to feed your fucking pets, do it so something else doesn't have to suffer.
You really are a stupid prick and feeding live mice to you animals is fucking cruel i work in a zoo looking after wild polecats and we wouldnt ever feed live food. you shouldnt be allowed to own animals you fucking twat!!!!!!!!!!!
@djpixieboy ok think of it like this, Humans eat cows with absoulutley NO chance to survive and live a full life. these ferrets are eating mice with NO chance of surving. your no better. even if your vegan, this is what happens, life is cruel and its natrual and i pitty those poor animals in your zoo.
@djpixieboy first off, honey badger don't give a shit. two, why did you watch the fucking video? and also, nature's cruel, so go watch peta porn, troll. (for my counter if you do resound is the desricption)
Would you feed your ferrets to dogs? I assume not. Yes I feed my ferret raw meet, dead chickens from a farm, vetted for disease but dead by natural causes. This disgusts me.
@Lexygirl108 Wouldn't be calling people idiots when you can't even spell.
It's not a stupid thing. It's valid, sound advice. Mice have sharp teeth, throwing them in a bathtub with ferrets is risky business. Plus it's cruel as hell. Of course, common sense seems to elude you, not surprising when lacking brain cells.
I feel stupid now ! Lol xD I thought it was like fake mice or Somthing; it's kinda sad the mice had to die:(. But that's life ! Food cycle... Ferrets super cute piling them on the side lol
So wat he feeds them mice if the were in the wild they wld be eating small rodents...if it was a snake he was feeding the mice to it wld be ok right!?...he's feeding his damn ferrets wtf hop off his Dick!...
@VoiceofWisdom80 Obviously your the idiot for your language. Secondly I'm not gonna sit here and argue about this. I don't care what you've "explained", and it's obvious that the person who posted this video doesn't care either. Fact of the matter is no matter what you say or what you think, people are gonna do what they want. No argument with some person you don't know is gonna change that. So you might as well stop going back and forth with me cause my view of this video is not gonna change.
@Lexygirl108 Of course you don't care about what has been explained, because you're a selfish, dimwitted fool who can't possibly admit they're wrong about something.
@Lexygirl108 You call this hunting? Maybe if they were actively seeking out mice outside in a backyard for example, then yes. But they were practically thrown into a bathtub, with no chance to escape. Don't think for a second that this is "nature", it is just some fucking sicko who wants to see their pets kill things. I've already explained the risks of putting them in a confined area, and the fact there's no such thing as a wild ferret, and that ferrets don't need live food. Idiot.
Like feeding videos :) we usualy give our ferrets dead mice since we have snakes and when the snakes dosn't wanna eat their mice our ferrets are the thrashcans hehe. But i like that you are feeding them live mice good for them to have something to chase and giving them a fight for their food :)
i cant stand every single one of you ignorant fucks that go around watching live feedings just to bash on the poster of the video. if you dont like it dont watch it.
@DimChunkyMonkey What's so ignorant about not putting pets through unnecessary risk? You do realise the mouse may land a bite on one of their eyes, severely injuring it? Even the greater chance considering they're in an enclosed space.
The poster of this video deserves to be bashed for being an inhumane jerk. I'll wager all my lifesavings that this sicko wouldn't be posting a vid if the mice were prekilled. Hmmm I wonder why??
@VoiceofWisdom80 so if they do it in the wild why cant they when they're captive? i understand its in an enclosed space but it doesnt really matter. so again if you dont like it dont watch it.
@DimChunkyMonkey In the wild sometimes the prey can injure a predator. For example, an antelope can kick a lion - their hooves are very sharp. There is no such thing as a wild ferret, they are purely domesticated animals.
As for your "don't like it don't watch it" bullshit, this video is not above criticism.
@DimChunkyMonkey And it doesn't matter? In an enclosed space there's greater risk a mouse can take an eye out. They have sharp teeth, they are fast and agile. Sounds like you're one of those sickos too who thinks this sort of shit is entertainment.
@VoiceofWisdom80 i wasnt even looking for videos of ferrets. i was looking at ball pythons because im looking into getting one. this video popped up so i watched it. i wasnt watching it for entertainment. whos to say a mouse couldnt take out an eye in the wild? its just an animal reacting on its animal instincts and the owner likes to feed live. it truly has nothing to do with you. it is not him being sick its how he feeds his animals. im sure if they were yours they would be better off
@DimChunkyMonkey Yes, it is sick because it's obviously a snuff film. "Epic battle", putting rock music on it, calling it hunting when it isn't, etc. It is clear the owner gets their jollies from watching their pet kill things. Otherwise what is the point of going out of your way making such a video with rock music? I would wager that this person wouldn't even post a video if it was a pre-killed animal. Hmmm I wonder why??
@DimChunkyMonkey Has nothing to do with me? Lol. This is a public area. This video is public. Tell me why this video is above criticism? It is here for everyone to watch and comment, and I have every right to share my feelings about it, even though you might disagree.
@VoiceofWisdom80 what i have said in every single one of my responses to you is if you dont like it dont watch it. why watch it if you dont like it? makes no sense to me. its just a bunch of people that get their feelings hurt over something that doesnt effect their life in the slightest. you just like to sit behind your keepboard and criticize people. im sure this isnt the first animal video you commented on negatively. if you have a problem with the way people treat their
Because I am a curious human being. I wanted to see what this was.
Tell me why this video is above criticism. I have valid points, you have a ridiculous mantra that attempts to sweep things under the carpet. I wonder if you'd say the same thing for a vid where someone is beating this child?
No, this is actually the first video I've ever commented on. And since you have no idea what I actually do IRL, it is unwise to assume I don't do anything.
@VoiceofWisdom80 animals go join a group for fucking animal abuse or something and actually try to make a difference. not just sit on youtube and try to sound smart.
@VoiceofWisdom80 because your obviously the better owner. so again if you dont like it dont watch it. its that simple. you and people like you dont need to comment on this video hating on the owner.
@DimChunkyMonkey Now you're starting to sound like a fucking robot in a loop. It's not that simple. People do sick, stupid shit like this then they deserve to be criticised.
I'd love to take you put you into a giant bath tub and stick in some hungry tigers see how you like it. You're and asshole and i hope getting eaten alive.
Usually im against humans hurting animals, but i see nothing wrong with this, in nature, mice feed ferrets, ferrets feed foxes and foxes feeds wolves. Nature is sad, dangerous and scary. Love your ferrets, i like the yellowish creamy color :)
its albino, its meant to be white but its a male which means the hormones in the oil it excretes colours the fur yellow, that usually fades in time if you have them neutered but it will always stay a bit.
I think people really need to get over the fact of animals eating animals. IT HAPPENS! It happened way before people started caring about it and it still happens. If you don't wanna watch it then don't. I really can't stand to hear people talk about innocent animals being eaten by other animals. We do it. We eat animals and living things all the time. I don't understand why people can't see past that.
Yeah, that's a bit on the bullshit side. Perhaps, my pitbull might like to have a ferret snack trapped in a small space for no chance of survival. I'd just shut the door and turn the music up. Ferrets all gone! :/ (I"m not a bitch but honestly, showing it is fucking retarded, I waching innocent shit and bam)
Good idea to use the tub for ferrets on a live prey diet, easy cleanup, but I generally don't think it's a good idea to feed ferrets live prey, not because it's 'gross' or 'mean', but that it makes prey-fed ferrets way too aggressive, both to their littermates and to their owners/handlers.
The raw diet will be better for them then just kibble of course, but with both wet and dry ferret-oriented food far more commonly available now then it used to be, there's not many good reasons left.
@whiskandbowl (shrug) All I go by is example. I am a ferret owner, (2 sables and a DEW) and sometimes get together with other ferret owners and let em all hang out. The fuzzies who are consistantly the most aggro have been the ones whos owners feed them pinkies or grown mice. It may well be an anomaly, but I doubt it.
No big deal anyway, I don't care how you feed em as long as you DO feed em, I just woudn't feed mine live prey for that reason.
Why would you feed live mice to ferrets? It's not like you need to recreate 'the wild' because ferrets are not, and have never been, wild animals. True, polecats hunt, but ferrets are neotenous, they are totally different, psychologically, to their ancestors.
I feel anything that causes unneccessary pain, suffering or fear is uncalled for, and, by the way, I hunt rabbits with my ferrets, and the rabbit's death is swift and caused by ME, not by the stranglehold of a ferret.
All you people saying its mean evidently dont get it.Instead of waiting for food to be given to them, it gives them a chance to do what they would in the wild. Its the same as in zoos most animals were brought in from the wild so would natural hunt live meat like instead of throwing fish into the penguin enclosure they should give them live fish to chase so they have something to do.
No offence but your house must fucking stink! I take animal science in school, and the ferret we take care of just smells god awful! Can only imagine multiple ferrets :(
1. your ferret is a male and hasn't been neutered in which case, yeah, hes gona stink and really should be neutered unless you plan to use him for breeding.
other option is that you simply find ferrets malodorous, some people love the smell, some people hate it, some people like myself just cant smell it.
@ourorboros2 Its a female, and the smell is Horrible, people that actually like the smell must be nuts! But I wasnt tryin to pick on the guy, just ferrets are some smelly animals, rabbits are worse though so I cant complain.. :|
@MICKMYMICK1 It all depends on how well you care for them. Keeping their bedding and litter clean as well as feeding a natural diet helps cut down on smell tremendously. Many people who come over do not even realize I have ferrets.
I have to agree what people against this barbaric ritual are saying. I respect the idea of ferrets hunting live food in the wild, but where in the wild do you find a bathtub? You can't for a second say that this is nature.
@NeuroticDummy Ok so if someone else kills it, packages it up and sells it at the pet store its ok, but not when these animals do it themselves? Which is more closer to nature?
@audoinc That is not the issue at hand. The issue at hand is that he is dropping mice into an environment where they have no chance of escape. In nature they do. If he wants to use the 'it's nature's way' excuse then he can't feed them in a bathtub!
In regards to what you're saying if it's better to have them killed by someone else then sold as food. Food acquired from a respectable store euthanase them in a humane way without fear or pain.
@NeuroticDummy I don't understand what is wrong with them being in the bathtub. If the point is to feed the ferrets, isn't it obvious you would want to contain the mice?
If your problem is that live mice are being fed, then you should understand that this is far less cruel compared to the thousands of penned up and factory farmed animals that are killed to sell at your "respectable" stores. You have blood on your hands either way.
@audoinc I wouldn't shop from stores that support companies that doesn't care about the way they treat their animals or put them down.
So basically what you're saying is because other people in the world are abusing animals we shouldn't care about providing a safe and comforting environment for animals either? What an incredible lack of morals your statement just reflected.
@NeuroticDummy I think you have some research to do. Any animal products sold are regulated by the FDA. Therefore, any animals used in making food products are factory farmed. You will never find animals in the "natural" conditions you have described.
So the closest thing to nature is either going out and hunting wild animals yourself or purchase feeder animals and practice live feeding.
@audoinc I took you up on your suggestion and did research as you told me. I first decided to search for 'FDA' which stands for the US Food and Drug Administration. I don't live in the US so this does not concern me.
Or there is the free-range farms that are not factory farms.
What concerns me about this video is that it's obviously done for the entertainment of the person filming it. Which is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous.
While i don't personally agree with feeding live food to pets (I used to feed my ferrets dry cereal and dead chicks), I would like to correct you on one point.
Ferrets don't hunt in the wild. There are only 2 sorts of ferret that can actually survive in the wild. The endangered blackfoot ferret (america only), and the man-made ferret/polecat hybrids, which were accidentally released on New Zealand's wildlife.
So aye, ferrets dont hunt food in the wild, generally speaking. ;]
I think it's unnecessary torment to already prey mice to feed ferrets live, but on top of that my friend (whose an idiot) let her ferrets hunt live mice only to find one mouse got a good bite in. The bite festered on the ferret, my friend the idiot didn't take it to a vet, and the ferret died...it was ungodly nasty what the wound looked like in the end. So just a fair warning feeding live can cost you a heft vet bill or a dead ferret.
@Pandabbit A good reason not to match an unskilled hunter with prey that it's obviously not ready for. Usually people start with smaller prey like pinkies and work their way up. I have never encountered an injury with my ferrets, and most assuredly we would seek vet assistance if something like that happened.
@snowmink87 The ferret in particular had been given mice and even some rats for a few years when this incident occurred. He'd also been bitten several times over the years and my friend assumed it'd go away like the others (the other bites weren't nearly as bad as this one though). The wound got infected and festered and she still refused to take him to the vet. Experience doesn't always prevent accidents, especially with extremely aggressive prey (which does happen occasionally).
@Pandabbit Well to me that sounds like an extremely negligent owner. For one, if the ferret was getting bit, even if it killed for years, then maybe it was not fit for such an activity. It wasn't the mouse that killed it... it was this "friend" who obviously didn't give a crap about his ferret. Very sad.
@snowmink87 She* and yeah, that's why I'm calling her stupid. But I still believe prey can be overly aggressive. I used to work for a pet store and we got a feeder rat in that we dubbed "Super Rat." Super rat lept out of his traveling crate and launched a full out attack on us, the pet store staff, before running away and disappearing into the storage area. We had to call an exterminator in who used some kind of shock stick to chase super rat out the delivery back door.
@Pandabbit I'm actually opposed to feeding them rats. They can get pretty nasty, plus I've had them as pets and it would be a bit harder for me to feed them (emotionally, anyway). I had one pet rat who bit me through my fingernail. Still have the scar. Mice are much milder, and I don't have much trouble with them.
@snowmink87 Though I don't agree because I'd rather my pet not have a taste for blood I can see the logic of letting an animal do what it does naturally.
@Pandabbit Are you one of those people that also want to make everything slightly dangerous illegal as well?
This is fun for them, they're having a good time catching and eating the mice, it's like a little fun challenge. You don't need to treat them like a little baby.
@thehammo55555 Ferrets can have "fun" with toys and prekilled animals just the same, thus your excuse is invalid. You only want to see a ferret kill a live animal, that's it.
What challenge? It's in a bathtub... the mice can't escape. Yeah... super hard!
@thehammo55555 In none of my posts do I say anything about making this illegal. Please read carefully, when you don't everyone gets upset from misinformation. I accept death is part of life, I accept the steak on my plate was once a living down. I'm not naive. I just think this is unnecessary due to the fact it comes with risks. I've explained why due to past experiences, yes I know it's a fluke but accidents happen. While I disagree I will not take away others' rights to feed live prey.
LOL this is great!!! I had 3 and always wondered what they would do with their natural food..... especially after my female shook the shit out of my large cat's neck while playing.... lol
@ourorboros2 that's totally different. U fed them meat daily. My ferret likes its reg food and treats just fine. But if I fed her some meat, which do you think she's gonna like more? And where would she have to go to get more meat? You can even see the aggression in the video. The one that is putting them all in a corner. Maybe it's the alpha, but clearly aggressive.
dude... its not more aggressive, its food and hence they kill it and eat it, there is a big difference between them eating mice and eating peoples fingers and just giving her meat isn't going to make her crave it, you can make meat a treat or like me you can make it a daily part of their diet, either or, they aren't going to be aggressive.
/watch?v=z9p8FDbiDAM&feature=related
this vid shows some people ferreting, their ferrets aren't vicious, they aren't aggressive.
They probably really enjoyed the mice, but there's no doubt it makes them aggressive. Now they know how good it feels to rip apart flesh. I hope you wash ur hand BEFORE you play with them now. Unless you don't need your fingers.
feeding ferrets live meat doesn't make them more aggressive, its a myth, it comes from a time when ferrets were fed on bread and milk, two things they cant digest, hence the second they could get at meat, whether a rabbit or your fingers, they went for it.
i fed my ferrets two portion of meat a day, not live granted but raw, never got a single nip.
@theycallmefoval1 Raw meat/whole prey does not cause aggression; this is a myth. Not to mention the distinct differences between a mouse and a finger... I have never ever been harmed by my ferrets, and I have owned ferrets for almost a decade.
@genghisdon1 Thank you. His best friend Salem, the silver in the video, joined him at the bridge in July. Both had cancer that are common to ferrets in old age. I miss my little fuzzbutts so much!
@snowmink87 sorry for Salem too, then. I have heard about the cancer here on u-tube. It's sad they don't live longer, but they seem to live well. Get some more when the time is right
really. it isnt humane to kill a house mouse like that. im not trying 2 start a scene, but feretts dont instantly kill their prey like spiders n snakes. its pretty cruel 2 do that
babalabaloo11111 14 hours ago
@babalabaloo11111
actually ferrets sever the spine of any animal they hunt, its quick and painless death.especially compared to a snake, which will either slowly suffocate the mouse of poison it or the spider which would also poison it. neither of them are instant.

let's play Fix That Sentence!
F) both D and E

And how do you feel about making the elderly and terminally ill live because of your country's euthanasia laws? Guess what. Life isn't fair and it isn't always "nice". So get over it.
BigTurkey562001 6 days ago
@BigTurkey562001 What is your point? None of those acts you mention have anything to do with this video... and just because some slaughterhouse employee is a dirtbag doesn't mean this video is right.
Are you against people complaining against animal suffering? Seems like you practically condone the behaviour. This has nothing to do with "death being a part of life", don't use that bullshit to justify unnecessary cruelty.
People don't like it sadists. Get over it.
VoiceofWisdom80 6 days ago
@VoiceofWisdom80 I'll sum up my point in a way you will hopefully grasp. Ferrets sometimes eat live prey. This includes mice. It doesn't matter whether it's in the wilds of North Dakota, or in a white bathtub, or in your own backyard next to the tree you mother goes to when they let her outside to pee. When you complain about watching live prey being eaten, after being warned, you come across as inadvertently funny to the rest of us.
BigTurkey562001 1 day ago
@BigTurkey562001 And what exactly is wrong about being anti-animal suffering? You're saying it like it's a BAD thing. Stop using this crappy head-in-the-sand logic, that life isn't fair or nice is besides the point. And don't use it to justify crap like this. If that were the case, I'd beat you over the head and not care if you're hurt because "life isn't fair".
Stop with the bullshit please. You're just using cheap excuses here.
VoiceofWisdom80 6 days ago
@VoiceofWisdom80
BigTurkey562001 5 days ago
@BigTurkey562001 This has nothing to do with death. The sooner you realise this, the less of a fucking idiot you'll look like. You don't seem to understand the point that is being made by the people who oppose this video. It was a snuff film. It was unnecessary. It puts the ferrets at risk.
If you valve the reality of death so much, I may as well shoot you now. But of course, that would be morally wrong - now wouldn't it? That "death" is reality is completely BESIDES THE POINT.
VoiceofWisdom80 4 days ago
@VoiceofWisdom80 "If I value the reality of death so much"?? And how does one value the reality of something. You sound like you're wandering haphazardly about, in search of a coherent thought. Yeah, you go ahead and shoot me because that supports your argument....uh....how, exactly? What exactly is your argument, anyway. Seems you are making five or six rather sketchy ones. Badly, I might add. And, that swearing tells me that your arguments are based on emotion rather than logic.
BigTurkey562001 1 day ago
@VoiceofWisdom80
and since death usually involves some form of suffering, by decrying that you are making a pathetic attempt at condemning death itself. Not a very rational way of looking at the world. The only difference between this suffering and a slaughterhouse, or your relative who is terminally ill with cancer, is where it hurts and for how long. You cannot make an argument for where to draw the line on what we will allow, because this stuff happens naturally.
BigTurkey562001 5 days ago
@BigTurkey562001 Suffering can be limited, regardless if death is the result. To induce it when it's avoidable/not necessary is immoral. Saying that you're against some idiot being cruel to a bunch of animals isn't condemning death at all, you're way off tangent here and so far away from the point that you're posting shit that's not relevant.
Just because the video has a disclaimer does not mean it's above criticism.
VoiceofWisdom80 4 days ago
@VoiceofWisdom80 the presence of a bathtub in no way supports your argument that this is cruel. This is normal, it is what ferrets do to mice. Or are you too irrational to see that. Mice are food for many animals. "It puts the ferrets at risk"?? Ferrets are at risk 24/7 from all kinds of diseases and hazards. If you could prove that the ferrets didn't at least try to eat these mice after killing them, then you might have a point. Otherwise I think you're nuts.
BigTurkey562001 1 day ago
@VoiceofWisdom80
and furthermore, every time a mouse is killed and eaten in the wild by another member of the weasel family, I'd like to know how much effort you put into protesting the suffering there. My guess is none, because you've accepted it as being a part of death, and a part of life. It's a law of the universe, just like "socialism doesn't work". You can deny it all you want, but it doesn't change what is.
BigTurkey562001 5 days ago
@BigTurkey562001 We can't control what happens in the wild. A weasel kills another to eat, to survive. This stupid person did it to make a snuff film. You're moronic logic doesn't quite extend to morality, otherwise there'd be absolutely no problem murdering people.
Don't give me this "natural" bullshit. That argument goes out the window the second we see these animals in captivity. There are no bathtubs in the wild. At the end of the day, it was unnecessary cruel, end of.
VoiceofWisdom80 4 days ago
@VoiceofWisdom80 oh, so you're okay with it when the mice are free-ranging? Well guess what, professor. Sooner or later the ferret will have them cornered at the end of some tunnel. That's not much different than trapped in a bathtub. Exactly how much of a headstart does the mouse need before you stop whining about the inhumanity of it? How long do you prefer to extend the mouse's terror-stricken flight from the oncoming ferret, before the ferret has the mouse dead to rights? Please tell.
BigTurkey562001 1 day ago
"epic battle?" er, no. Anyway for those of you preaching about not killing animals or making them suffer, did you consider that beef that comes from a commercial slaughterhouse knows it's in trouble? Cattle next in line *know* something is wrong. Researchers have monitored their vitals, which shoot through the roof when they get close to the end of the line.

Ferrets don't need live food, bro.
VoiceofWisdom80 2 weeks ago
@VoiceofWisdom80 so if they do it in the wild why cant they when they're captive? i understand its in an enclosed space but it doesnt really matter. so again if you dont like it dont watch it.
DimChunkyMonkey 2 weeks ago
@DimChunkyMonkey In the wild sometimes the prey can injure a predator. For example, an antelope can kick a lion - their hooves are very sharp. There is no such thing as a wild ferret, they are purely domesticated animals.
As for your "don't like it don't watch it" bullshit, this video is not above criticism.
VoiceofWisdom80 2 weeks ago
@DimChunkyMonkey And it doesn't matter? In an enclosed space there's greater risk a mouse can take an eye out. They have sharp teeth, they are fast and agile. Sounds like you're one of those sickos too who thinks this sort of shit is entertainment.
VoiceofWisdom80 2 weeks ago
@VoiceofWisdom80 i wasnt even looking for videos of ferrets. i was looking at ball pythons because im looking into getting one. this video popped up so i watched it. i wasnt watching it for entertainment. whos to say a mouse couldnt take out an eye in the wild? its just an animal reacting on its animal instincts and the owner likes to feed live. it truly has nothing to do with you. it is not him being sick its how he feeds his animals. im sure if they were yours they would be better off
DimChunkyMonkey 2 weeks ago
@DimChunkyMonkey Yes, it is sick because it's obviously a snuff film. "Epic battle", putting rock music on it, calling it hunting when it isn't, etc. It is clear the owner gets their jollies from watching their pet kill things. Otherwise what is the point of going out of your way making such a video with rock music? I would wager that this person wouldn't even post a video if it was a pre-killed animal. Hmmm I wonder why??
I don't blame the ferrets, I blame the human.

TalonMercenary 1 month ago
Good idea to use the tub for ferrets on a live prey diet, easy cleanup, but I generally don't think it's a good idea to feed ferrets live prey, not because it's 'gross' or 'mean', but that it makes prey-fed ferrets way too aggressive, both to their littermates and to their owners/handlers.
The raw diet will be better for them then just kibble of course, but with both wet and dry ferret-oriented food far more commonly available now then it used to be, there's not many good reasons left.
jurrasic 1 month ago
@jurrasic
And exactly where is this proven.
I have never heard anything that prey fed ferrets are more aggressive than those fed kibble/raw

@whiskandbowl (shrug) All I go by is example. I am a ferret owner, (2 sables and a DEW) and sometimes get together with other ferret owners and let em all hang out.

I have to agree what people against this barbaric ritual are saying. I respect the idea of ferrets hunting live food in the wild, but where in the wild do you find a bathtub? You can't for a second say that this is nature.
NeuroticDummy 1 month ago 17
@NeuroticDummy Ok so if someone else kills it, packages it up and sells it at the pet store its ok, but not when these animals do it themselves? Which is more closer to nature?
audoinc 1 month ago
@audoinc That is not the issue at hand. The issue at hand is that he is dropping mice into an environment where they have no chance of escape. In nature they do. If he wants to use the 'it's nature's way' excuse then he can't feed them in a bathtub!
In regards to what you're saying if it's better to have them killed by someone else then sold as food. Food acquired from a respectable store euthanase them in a humane way without fear or pain.
NeuroticDummy 1 month ago
@NeuroticDummy I don't understand what is wrong with them being in the bathtub. If the point is to feed the ferrets, isn't it obvious you would want to contain the mice?
If your problem is that live mice are being fed, then you should understand that this is far less cruel compared to the thousands of penned up and factory farmed animals that are killed to sell at your "respectable" stores. You have blood on your hands either way.
audoinc 1 month ago
@audoinc I wouldn't shop from stores that support companies that doesn't care about the way they treat their animals or put them down.
So basically what you're saying is because other people in the world are abusing animals we shouldn't care about providing a safe and comforting environment for animals either? What an incredible lack of morals your statement just reflected.
NeuroticDummy 1 month ago
@NeuroticDummy I think you have some research to do. Any animal products sold are regulated by the FDA. Therefore, any animals used in making food products are factory farmed. You will never find animals in the "natural" conditions you have described.
So the closest thing to nature is either going out and hunting wild animals yourself or purchase feeder animals and practice live feeding.
audoinc 1 month ago
@audoinc I took you up on your suggestion and did research as you told me. I first decided to search for 'FDA' which stands for the US Food and Drug Administration. I don't live in the US so this does not concern me.
Or there is the free-range farms that are not factory farms.
What concerns me about this video is that it's obviously done for the entertainment of the person filming it. Which is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous.
NeuroticDummy 1 month ago
@NeuroticDummy

Pandabbit 1 month ago 3
@Pandabbit A good reason not to match an unskilled hunter with prey that it's obviously not ready for. Usually people start with smaller prey like pinkies and work their way up. I have never encountered an injury with my ferrets, and most assuredly we would seek vet assistance if something like that happened.
snowmink87 1 month ago

You don't need to treat them like a little baby.
thehammo55555 2 weeks ago
@thehammo55555 Ferrets can have "fun" with toys and prekilled animals just the same, thus your excuse is invalid. You only want to see a ferret kill a live animal, that's it.
What challenge? It's in a bathtub... the mice can't escape. Yeah... super hard!
VoiceofWisdom80 2 weeks ago
@thehammo55555 In none of my posts do I say anything about making this illegal. Please read carefully, when you don't everyone gets upset from misinformation. I accept death is part of life, I accept the steak on my plate was once a living down. I'm not naive. I just think this is unnecessary due to the fact it comes with risks. I've explained why due to past experiences, yes I know it's a fluke but accidents happen. While I disagree I will not take away others' rights to feed live prey.

there's nothing wrong feeding a ferret living foods I lost my 2 ferrets recently I fed them mice all the time they were very healthy I miss those 2
CustomBionicleReview 1 month ago
@ourorboros2 that's totally different. U fed them meat daily. My ferret likes its reg food and treats just fine. But if I fed her some meat, which do you think she's gonna like more? And where would she have to go to get more meat? You can even see the aggression in the video. The one that is putting them all in a corner. Maybe it's the alpha, but clearly aggressive.
theycallmefoval1 1 month ago
@theycallmefoval1
dude... its not more aggressive, its food and hence they kill it and eat it, there is a big difference between them eating mice and eating peoples fingers and just giving her meat isn't going to make her crave it, you can make meat a treat or like me you can make it a daily part of their diet, either or, they aren't going to be aggressive.

this vid shows some people ferreting, their ferrets aren't vicious, they aren't aggressive.

You should dress them up in little gladiator costumes!
xxfunnyman1xx 1 month ago
They probably really enjoyed the mice, but there's no doubt it makes them aggressive. Now they know how good it feels to rip apart flesh. I hope you wash ur hand BEFORE you play with them now. Unless you don't need your fingers.

@theycallmefoval1 i hope the baiting scum doesn't & gets gangrene

@theycallmefoval1
feeding ferrets live meat doesn't make them more aggressive, its a myth, it comes from a time when ferrets were fed on bread and milk, two things they cant digest, hence the second they could get at meat, whether a rabbit or your fingers, they went for it.
i fed my ferrets two portion of meat a day, not live granted but raw, never got a single nip.
ourorboros2 1 month ago
@theycallmefoval1 Raw meat/whole prey does not cause aggression; this is a myth. Not to mention the distinct differences between a mouse and a finger... I have never ever been harmed by my ferrets, and I have owned ferrets for almost a decade.

sorry about Daemeon

@genghisdon1 Thank you. His best friend Salem, the silver in the video, joined him at the bridge in July. Both had cancer that are common to ferrets in old age. I miss my little fuzzbutts so much!
snowmink87 1 month ago
@snowmink87 sorry for Salem too, then. I have heard about the cancer here on u-tube. It's sad they don't live longer, but they seem to live well. Get some more when the time is right
