@ReedBender1 What "pen knife"? I'm an Australian, and like a great Australian once said..."that's not a knife, this is a knife"! I would love to have a great time with a nice, warm, brown skinned babe like Sherine....why the HELL do you think I would want to have anything at all to do with a savage, violent, black animal like Tyson?????
Big Pig brought a new dimension to butchers aprons !!!!!!!
And Sherine............in this clip she exudes such primal energy........plus harp playing is just so perfectly integral to the jungle rhythm so unique to this f*** awesome Aussie band !!
I bought their first album on the strength of "Breakaway", but the other songs were great too. Glad someone's had the good sense to post them! I have the album on cassette, which is somewhere in storage.
I saw these guys in Glasgow supporting INXS on the KICK Tour in 87'!!! I thought they were great and bought and loved the Cd but never heard anything more about them.
'as the Boy Wonder, Heaven has shown to my sight that I have seen, out of the grip of their 'wanted' living time, 'the', an Angle in my 'Hungry Town' !!
Sherine Abeyratne!! What a cutie!! =) ..A Lankan!! Also one of the two girls in solo video shot in James Freud(recently deceased) & Sean Kelly's band 'Models' song "Barbados". That's what I always remembered about that song. =D
@Forserean - That's right!! She has a twin and that twin used to sing with Kate Ceberano's old band. You can see her in one of Kate's old music videos on here in YouTube! Those Lankans are very talented and not just in cricket either. The two twins are both on the Models "Barbados" music video together. They were both born in England.
When this song was released I couldnt stop laughing at the name of the group BIG PIG, but this song was so catchy they played it heaps over the radio airwaves & i think ti made it to the top 10 - aussie charts & stayed there for abt 5 wks
I bought "Bonk" on a whim when it first came out in the US in the late 80s -- I thought it a good representation of the worst synthrock music the 80s had to offer, although Sherine's vocals on Devil's Song were smooth and mesmerizing. Listening to this album now, over 20 years later? Pretty damn good, actually....
this and I can't break away were all time faves for the late 80's and early 90's. I can't break way was featured in Bill and Ted as the intro song.. Love that Aussie's got there play over here in the states. Wish they could keep it up... bring it back to us Aussie's!
Yeah I saw them too, also first met them at my friend's bottle shop which was in Raine Square, they came in while I was having a chat to him. They invited us to their concert at The Palladium. Oh, was a while ago now. I think she was originally English.
what harp?
do you mean harmonica??
BernieRamone351 1 day ago
@BernieRamone351 You don't know much about music, do you?
DetroitDieselBob 13 hours ago
@DetroitDieselBob
actually i know plenty about music...and there is NO harp in this clip??
Do you even know what a harp is?...try looking in wikipedia :)
BernieRamone351 12 hours ago
@BernieRamone351 Harp = HARMONICA. Again - you don't know music.
DetroitDieselBob 11 hours ago
Honestly, given the chance back then I would have fucked Sherine senseless!...still would actually, if given half a chance!
SKOTP69 3 weeks ago
@SKOTP69 .....I'm sure Sherine would be just thrilled to know this...better you stick to doing the knuckleshuffle on yourself SKOTP69.
classie60 3 weeks ago
@classie60 I'm HOPING she'd be thrilled to know that! 'Cos as good as the knuckleshuffle can be, it's not as good as the real thing!!!
SKOTP69 3 weeks ago
@SKOTP69 - yeah and if given half a chance you'd be taking your little pen knife to a gun fight !
Try biting off Mike Tysons ear instead - you'd have a better chance of success !

If there is one word to describe the music of Big Pig, it'd be "primal". Excellent stuff. They had like 4 drummers going at once =]

Great to see all the positive comments regarding this little known Aussie band. I saw them at Expo 88 in Brisbane.

Always big on drums myself. Wondered at the time if PIG stand for Percussion Instrument Group. No guitars. Big Percussion Instrument Group. ?
