(he says that to rose). I think that comes from the Dalek episode where at the end, Rose stands between The Doctor and the Dalek saying he changed and asking the doctor to do the same. That shows the avenging, hateful, grudgeful alternative of the Doctor.
@dorianmyrer21 Most of that I agree with. Pure, probably not. He's probably on the Most Wanted List of a million systems, and he's done a lot of nasty things for the sake of what's right. He's got a pretty scarred soul for being a hero. It's why he keeps traveling-according to Matt Smith, if he quit moving he would probably kill himself because of all the stuff he's got boiling underneath in his psyche.

If someone's religious views aren't robust enough to cope with a popular children's series borrowing some of its views for inspiration, they're probably too filled with doubts about religion themselves.
This is a brilliant episode. I think that this guy is the one that'll kill the Doctor in the end. It's an awesomely powerful creature that I think should be another reoccurring enemy like the Daleks or Cybermen. Then again, the religious people would be offended.

the devil is frequently described as the lord of lies so its story about being before time could be just that, unless you believe that demons cant lie, only twist the truth
In my mind gods are invented to give reason for creation and create guidelines to live by, demons and such are to personify nightmares and fears mainly of darkness, solitude, being hunted etc and give us a face to confront
I also dont believe in heaven or hell because human is too short to warrent an eternity of anything

youknow, the consept of hell really does differ from person to person. I mean to me hell is absolute solitude. Nothingness. though I do love how the doctor's mind works ^^
