I am an unemployeed computer hardware tech and i have viewed alot of vids today about lots of ram.. and my conclusion was one. It is not a coincidence the fact that all amateur vids showing 8,16 & 24 Gb of ram booted on windows and a professional like you from ASRock which i love your m/bs boot up to Linux. +1 for that! :) keep on ASRocking! a linux fan
Have you considered making a mother board that has not only the rediculously large capacity for ram but also a similar capacity for video cards. hi guys im realy confused to buy a mobo please help me..... i want a mobo for engineering applications. here are the softwares im gonna use (SOLIDWORKS,CATIA,ABAQUS Simulia,FLUENT,NASTRAN) can you please suggest me the best i can buy for maximum 350$?....thank you all
Large size of memory is not mean fast. Triple channel is not mean faster than dual channel. My Corsair Vengeance dual channel 8GB DDR3 1855MHz kill your 24GB DDR3 1066MHz. My memory score 21584MB/s read, 22747MB/s write, 24111MB/s copy and 41ns latency in AIDA64 memory benchmark.
@wowistas1997 24 is awesome because u will never think about ram again lmao and u are sure to run anything from now to next 10 years with a i7 990x ur ready
@BillieJean900 about that i will not need to update my computer you have right...that mean that if i got 24gb and the the game that i play need 2gb (WoW) so in the next updates i will need more ram(that i want to point its that you right and that i understand that you can play eny game with out update pc all time in the games update)
I use a program called blender 3d and I love to make fluid simulations, but it uses a lot of ram... so i'm recieving 16gb of ram. lol not very many reasons to have so much ram but I love the beauty of rendered water and other fluids, I'ts practically all I upload. very neet computer by the way it is amazing!
to chriss from asrock; perfectly demonstrated how NOT to hold a ram module; those systems work on 1.65 volt; a typical skin voltage is 10 000V .... when you touch someone and you feel a litle shock, that's easily 10 to 100 kV .... you hold them on the side :)
@GenuineMW2 short circuiting is not a problem; as then the potential difference is 0V.... exepct when there is suposed to be a voltage difference, (like a power socket ) then there will be a current from the positive part to the negative ..
@GenuineMW2 dude, i've spent my last 8 years as a student elektro mechanics and i'm in my tirth year for engineer, but honestly, what are you talking about ? what you say just does'nt make sense ... (and i know i made some mistakes concerning my english, but then again, that is not my native language . (0.001V=>1mV)
@GenuineMW2 yes u know more ; great. now if you would have read it closely you would have seen that i said that it does'nt neccesarely hapen . ram modules are very strong; but there weakness is static elecktricity. but hey, if you trust yourself so much, go n rub 80 dollar of ram against your wollen pull.
24 GB for just a desktop that you use for even hardcore gaming is stupidly overpowered and you won't even get close to using even a quarter of it on a daily basis... I've got 16 GB in mine, and running 3 Eve Online clients, multiple RDP sessions, 2 XP Virtual Machines, Skype, multiple internet explorer windows and I'm barely cracking 8 GB used.... This is meant for people who want to use a desktop computer as a less expensive VMWare ESX server instead of paying $13,000 for an HP server.
@rykk78 or for people like me who do fluid renders and 3d modeling.... i can easily use 24 gig .... then i let my pc render for 3 days or so and i have a massive fluid rende'r . now i have 12 gig and it's often full...
@Hokrollo1 Most every day users don't need that much memory (yet), but there are many things you do need it for, like content creation or running simulations or medical imaging and so on. Granted if you're doing those kind of things on a daily basis as your main line of work you're more likely to be running Xeons rather than the consumer i7 chips, which can be used in dual socket configurations and can use far more than 24GB of RAM. That's what the HP you found will use.
asrock..can you help me out.. i have just bought an intensity pro pci express card .. i installed this in my pc. my mother board is the G31M-GS asrock. when i try to start my pc it wont boot with it installed .if i remove it it starts up ok .. the pci express card is new .. thanks
I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, it would be nice if ASRock had a phone number that could be called! I received a motherboard that was having problems and I needed help...for two weeks I exchanged emails, and all the way up till the day I sent the board back. My problem was never resolved... I am receiving a new board in about two weeks..I just hope I dont have any troubles with this one..because If I do, then I dont think there will be much help.
No end user or gamer, or even a video editor like myself, will ever actually utilize 24GB of RAM. Would be useful if you're using partitioning RAM drives for maximum performance with some programs, but other than that, 99% of users will never utilize more than 6GB.
hahahahahahhahaha...... ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..... using ASRock and Supercomputer in the same sentence is like comparing Diamonds to my shit. I have had 5 ASRock motherboards. all of them high end. All of them different models. All of them from different suppliers. ALL of them were faulty. ASRock is truly the worst motherboard manufacturer in the world.
@SomeGroupProductions So what I get from your commentary is, you are either a liar or you are completely retarded for buying 5 motherboards from the same manufacturer after receiving several poor quality boards.
@raketenDK True... the sad thing is that if people who are fed up with windows actually did something about it instead of just keep using it game makers would perhaps look a bit more into the alternative. Sadly that is not going to happen the next five years I believe.... but remember: GNU/Linux have come from "nothing" to where it is now. The most used OS on supercomputers and since todays supercomputers are tomorrows "normal computers" we can only hope :)
@bodyboarder3452 if you have 64gb of ram you have way to much ram you do not use it and windows 7 64bit can handle up to 1 exabyte (1000 terabyte) but no motherboard can handle that much ram

@zayres29 well u wants about 4gb for a home pc now really and 6 gb when using the i7 but as long as u got that its speed u want in a home and defiantly in a gaming pc!!! 24gb is only ever going to be of use if u use really high end professional programs as you are asking im guessing you dont!
@zayres29 have u tried using just 6gb (3x2gb) and seeing if can get it to run 2000mhz im guessing it cant get the power to run 6 sticks at 2000. i know people have problems with high speed ram on the i7 any way something to do with the voltage and the timing in the memory controller in the cpu there some good thing on it on the internet try googleing it.
lol why in the world /who in the world except u would run linux on a 24GB ram/i7 core computer man! Dam u got money for the pc but no money for the os? download windows 7 beta dude! nice vid daught! 4StarZ
omg....u must be kidding...the majority of servers use unix based os....80% of them or more...the rest use apple software which is unix based too...:)....nobody who knows a thing for pc's use windows.......
I got 32 gigs...

@siyamand the motherboard isnt gonna be the main factor for processing. the main factors usually come down to ram, cpu, and gpu for processing
the motherboard needs to be no more then adequate to support those as far as i know.

so its btter to have higher capacity or less with faster speed?? 1066 seems slow for ddr3
zayres29 1 year ago
@zayres29 well u wants about 4gb for a home pc now really and 6 gb when using the i7 but as long as u got that its speed u want in a home and defiantly in a gaming pc!!! 24gb is only ever going to be of use if u use really high end professional programs as you are asking im guessing you dont!
BigBadBadger1 1 year ago
i have 12 in my current computer and its rated at 2000mhz buti can only get it to run at like 17xx before it wont recognize all of it
zayres29 1 year ago
@zayres29 have u tried using just 6gb (3x2gb) and seeing if can get it to run 2000mhz im guessing it cant get the power to run 6 sticks at 2000. i know people have problems with high speed ram on the i7 any way something to do with the voltage and the timing in the memory controller in the cpu there some good thing on it on the internet try googleing it.
BigBadBadger1 1 year ago
@BigBadBadger1 that does work but i have 12gigs it seems pointless to only run 6 if i have 12 so i just leave it all in and run it at 1600

For alot of reasons, one or two reaons would be:
1) 3D Modeling & Animation: If you are creating a high-quality model and want to animate him/her/it in real-time.
2) Video Game purposes, or even video editing (I know that sounds redundant lol).
I hope that helps.
kuru2k9 2 years ago
@chachee99 I said that 12 years ago about 64 meg. SInce then, I don't doubt anything when it comes to the future needs of computer users.
