  • It's a fire piston. The air compresses sufficiently to generate enough heat to ignite the wad. Take the wad out and blow it into an ember to light your fire with. Google "Fire piston" for more info.

  • From what i understand of the construction of a fire piston, it is required that one end of the fire piston tube, to be completely sealed. The way he created the tube in the video, tells me that it would be highly unlikely for it to be a fire piston, as it is open in both ends.

I'm more inclined to think that it is a toy-gun of some sort.

I may be wrong though, and either way i appreciate your comment.

  • so what is it for ?

  • I think it`s a toy gun. Used to shoot pebbles or wads of paper. I think it works by jabbing some kind of wadding into the barrel, then pushing in the piston, compressing the air inside, and shooting the wad or pebble out the other end.

    Simple, old time, fun.

  • i have no idea, but i think its cool he did my stick trick,

  • @praagyah

In my area, was used the stem of Sambucus nigra (Elder or Black Elder [wiki]) for the same purpose: toy gun.

Make some noise and throw away the opposite part of the piston.
