The band is good and I enjoy their music, but are they really a mind blowingly (sp?) original band? They are not only using the sounds of 8-bit composers but also the melodic and rhythmic themes from their music. It's basically ripped Nintendo music with guitars. Like I said, I like it a lot and I think it is good music, but "finally... original" might be an overstatement.

its not really Nintendo music, they just use the notes from nintendo but make there own music out of it, just making good use of the resources around them tbh

Nope. They create their own melodies using a hacked nes as an instrument. Watch the bleep bloop epidsode college humor put up. They said that they created loads of riffs on guitars and stuff and then played those through their hacked nes. Also combining layers of music on different waves with the nes. Then backing the nes with guitars and a bass.

Tell me that's not original.

I didn't mean to imply that they simply took the ACTUAL melodies from nintendo games. I know they create their own melodies, but they sound almost EXACTLY like Nintendo game songs. Yea, it's an inventive way to make sounds, but the music is so influenced by the origins of those sounds that it's hardly ground breaking music.
