The guitar she is using is an Armin and Mario Gropp from Germany. They now have better Models than the one she is playing a Double Top still very beautiful and traditional, more projection. I put this on to listen to the 'piece' and went about brushing the carpet with my little hand brush but at 4 minutes in i just had to stop, she gets into those chords so firmly so precisely, absolutely fabulous playing, lovely rounded tone. Probably one of the finest interpretations of one of the truly great pieces for the guitar, I doubt Sor ever wrote a piece as magnificent as this certainly not opus9, nor Guilliani and what a player Li Jie is truly a virtuosos. A virtuosic piece for a virtuosic player, i was mesmorized for 9 minutes with the eloquence of her playing. someone somewhere please get her on a major tour, Wigmore Hall, Carnagie Hall etc.

Li Jie is playing a classical guitar built by German luthier Mario Gropp. She is playing his top model, called the "Spezial". I'm not sure of the guitar's scale (Gropp makes 580mm to 660mm), but I do know that it was originally recommended that Li Jie not take up the classical guitar because of her small hands!

Professor Chen Zhi purchased a bunch of these classical guitars from Armin & Mario Gropp a number of years ago for his top students including Su Meng, Wang Yameng, and Li Jie.

I am totally aware of the old argument his speed kills label that many many listeners attribute to Yamashita, but in fairness, it is worth studying his hundreds of recorded works to realize his musical abilities lie far beyond the reach of many of his contemporaries and resides in a league of his own, with only a few exceptions. cont:

Her teacher is Chen Zhi, who has *four* girl students (known as the Four Angels) all playing at Li Jie's level (at least technically, i.e., winning international championships) The younger Su Meng is even better/faster technically. IHMO, Li Jie is still the best among the four for accurate and nuanced (if somewhat stoic, which I actually like) interpretations.
