OK, I get it..

So with socialized medicine like, say, Canada. You get PPO selection without the upfront cost or the HMO restrictions. As a matter of fact, there is no co-pay with socialized medicine.

Last time I checked the very purpose of the State is to protect its citizens from harm. The contract between individual and government cannot function without this principle.

Taxpayer money fixes roads, funds military and police forces, all in the name of protecting citizens. If another country invades, should each citizen be required to buy his own gun and defend himself to the best extent that his money can provide?

I'm Alaska Native. Our Tribal Health Consortium built their own hospital. They provide the highest quality healthcare in the state and it's free for those of us who for whatever reason don't want to pay. Of course I never go there because I don't drink or smoke. I also eat real food 4 times a day so I'm healthy. Pills are not food.
