  • Well played, and tons of fun! Hope you're there to play drums on YouTube or its equivalent in my old age like old drummers from the fifties are here now. We'll need you.

  • nice mirror effect

  • AWESOME cover Joe - Sib would approve! Perfect timing on the stick toss at the end... it is always cool when you catch the stick just in time to hit your next note... Really well played my friend.

  • Awesome .

  • But this was a note for note cover

  • Um this song was on the first album 7th track just saying

  • what kind of kit are u playing. sounds great. what would you prefer? Tama?

  • @advhutch It is a Tama ImperialStar from 1984 - I would try others if I had the cash to spend on it.

  • @TheDrumChannel still a great sound bro, thanks for responding, i appreciate it

  • but this kit sounds good to me

  • goddamn. every time i watch this vid i want to grab my guitar and play it LOUD. rock that ride cymbal hard, my friend!!! it's my favorite sound! d.

  • 4 idiots are licking Justin Bieber's micro-testicles.

  • Cali here. When a left-handed drummer plays the drums, is the high-hat on the right side?

  • @fatmike109 Well i'm not sure - but if Russia attacked Turkey from behind, do you think grease would help? Just a joke.. Thanks

  • are you from new york? you look like you are from new york.

  • @fatmike109 Yes I am - You?

  • I love the drum channel!!! And I can't play the drums. I can rock a guitar out real well, but can't play the drums worth a damn. That's what makes this so interesting to me. Love the ride cymbal!

    d.

  • @fatmike109 Glad you are enjoying these videos - thanks

  • great cover bro, aloha from hawaii

  • @metallikill1 Love Hawaii - been there three times - Maui

  • I also like how you edited in the kick drum. Fantastic!

  • @Bodhisattva57 Thanks - it is part of the drums so it needs to be in there. Thanks again

  • This is one of my alltime favorite songs and you kicked ass buddy. Great job.

  • @Bodhisattva57 Thank You

  • @Tresisme1 Thanks Wndy - yes when I do get down there to play I usually have a great time doing it - Thank again

  • ok, I've watched this about 5 times already.....dude, you NAILED it. Makes me want to re-invest in a drum set again after years. Great sound, too. That stick-flip so close to the end of the song was a risk, huh? Would suck to get 90% to the end and have to keep doing do-overs!! Nice work!

  • @66Polarbear Well thank you so much for writing this nice comment. I really appreciate it. Yes that would have sucked but I think I flipped it three times and dropped it once so I had two angles to choose from : ) Thanks again

  • dude flawless

  • @adrionvcrystalj70 Thank you - thanks for taking the time to write a comment

  • Do it again, do it again!! That was awesome.

  • @matsellah Thanks

  • how many takes did you do this in? i notice a tambourine on your hi hat in some parts, but not in others?

  • @DrumsByAdisa I usually do 3 and then just choose from that. Yes I must have taken it off for one of them. Thanks

  • good job. one of the most unappreciated songs by boston.

  • "Something About You" was on the album "Boston," not "Don't Look Back." Oh well, it's all the same. Boston rules!

  • @diebydeath I know - i found that out later - but you're right - who cares - Boston Rules

  • great classic cover...and you looked like you were having fun doing it!! big thumbs up!!

  • Sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice and tight.. you are the shit !

  • @6218mk Thanks - glad you liked it.

  • Awesome cover Joe, you really nailed it. Your videos are both informative and fun to watch - you always look like you're having so much fun playing!!! Thanks for sharing such a great work... RIP BD - truly one of the greatest voices from Rock & Roll.

  • @FL50DRUMR Thanks so much - That is what it is really about - having fun.

  • great job you rock!!!!

  • @jimbob40661 Thanks - I appreciate that.

  • Very nice cover Joe. You drum with authority and the cover was played very well and sounded fantastic. Great audio and video editing. I liked the way you shadowed in the bass drum. I agree about BD's vocals. Again, super cover...Nick

  • @readyeddy101 Thanks so much - I heard a vocal track of this song without the band from Brad. I don't know where I got it from but you could tell it was the exact track they used on the album. Just listenening to the vocals only, was strange and really uncovered some cool stuff. Thanks again

  • great job good song thanks for sharing

  • Man you really nailed "Something about you"! Wish I could play like you. My focus instrument is guitar.

  • @Webdragon220 Thanks so much - I look at piano players the same way - I wish I could.

  • man u rock.....love boston,keep doin what u do.thanks.

  • @raina392 I will - So glad you enjoyed it.

  • @TheDrumChannel I remember hearing about Brad's suicide and feeling so sorry that all the fame & fortune couldn't alleviate his feelings of loneliness and despaiir. I expect when he left his home wasn't in Heaven but that he awoke in Hell. When you know Jesus as your Saviour it changes your hope for the future and to walk with Him will change your outlook on life forever. Don't go through life like that yourself, give Jesus your life and change your life today, please.

  • man u rock.....

  • fan frikkin tastic. the best cover ive hear yet. all your covers are great. What crash combo did you use? are they splash? Thins? I have been searchin for that crisp bright splash forever

  • @vikscoach I think it is a 16 thin crash and an 18 Crash. I don't know but most of the cymbal sound comes out in the post production - I still get a different sound for each song. I haven't quite got that down yet.

  • that was more beautiful that my first born

  • Right on bro! Great playing! Thanks for sharing!

  • @joeymcnew37209 Thanks - appreciate it.

  • WTF? Awsome dude

  • @timh111 Thanks - That was a really nice comment - I appreciate it.

  • Bud...You most DEFINITELY put Sib Hashian in check!!!

  • @timh111 Thanks

  • The 3 who disliked are probably those who are jealous that you have twice the drum kit, and are twice the drummer they are!

    This cover is very nice

  • @velo66 Well thank you - sometimes people accidentally hit the wrong button, but I'm glad you like it. Thanks again.

  • NIIIIIICE!!!!!

  • Excellent - One of the best drum covers I've seen on Youtube. Your enthusiasm is a joy to watch and your kit sounds just right.

Do you take requests? lol I'd love to see you cover Everlong by the Foo Fighters.

  • @gabrielcoy I'll give it a listen - Thanks

  • I like how to tambourine on your hi-hat disappears and reappears

  • incredible!

  • Goddamn that's cool!

I had to listen to it a second time to really get it. Nice sound.

Live to love the ride cymbal!

    d.

And I hold my sticks the same way as you, and have no trouble getting power. drumming for 36 years, off and on.

  • basspotter loved it---you nailed it dude! Bass players applaude your perfect timing!

  • @BassPotter46 Thanks so much - Boston was one of those once in a lifetime bands. Their music was so far ahead of the time. Glad you liked it.

  • Nice Job............you were really into that one!

  • @villain1963

    thanks -

  • @smsms... whatever... just subscribe!

  • very good

  • Who is this guy and what else has he done?

  • @smsmsmmvp

Let's see - I've almost made it to the top of Mt Everest and I've jumped out of a plane. Oh, I saw the World Trade center fall in person. That should be enough for now.

  • My favorite Boston song and you ripped it! Great job!

  • @nuyawk55

Great - I should do some more. Thanks

  • that was sick dude ^^

  • when I first saw this video, I honestly thought it was an official video from boston recording the drums in the studio compartment... dude, you rip it up.

  • I thought the exact same thing. Looks like he is having fun! Has he done anything else? I found this video by accident last night (03 24 2010) and have played it at least 40 times. As my kids would say "SICK"

  • @smsmsmmvp Thanks - I am having fun! - now if only I could make some money doing it, life would be great - Thanks

  • @desertskies1965

Wow - The music is so good. The drums are average but fit the song so well. The guitarist was an incredibly talented person. An inovator to say the least. Thanks again

  • OMG MAN!!! You're a kick ASS drummer dude! I so much enjoyed watching you play!! THANK YOU FOR BRINGING A SMILE TO MY FACE!!!

  • @jroach1985 Your so welcome. I have to do some more with such nice comments like that. Thanks again.

  • Holy cow! I am a long time (no pun intended) Boston fan and can play every song of their's on most instruments; except drums. You absolutely nailed that performance! That was such a joy to listen to.

  • @Mike990920 Thanks - Love the Boston too. How could you not. Poor kids of today. They will never know.

  • That was brilliant! LOVED IT! My second favorite Boston song.... give you 1 guess what my favorite is. ;o)

    Seriously good stuff!

  • @MaryAnne1919 Hmmm. Long Time? Smokin? There are so many good ones. Glad you enjoyed this one.

  • Boston got heavy airplay on WBCN during the 70's Thanks Charles Laquidera.

  • Great job man you show a passion in your playing, and with your ability to play the drums so well, you did an excellent job. I love that tune!!! Great Choice!!

  • Thanks - Boston was far ahead of their time back in the 70's - They are a lot of fun to play. Thanks again

  • @kornerstonerocks

Thanks - I love to play - Wish I could do more of it.

  • Well done! Solid as a rock and I can tell you're enjoying yourself.

  • @vinnytfunk Thanks - That means a lot to me.

  • Love it!!!!!!!!!!

    Bottom line.

  • Turn your left hand over so that your thumb is up towards the sky. You are losing a lot of power in your hands by the way you are holding your sticks.

Second, loose the funk beats in this song. Its a Boston ...Not Rick James...

Other wise...for a beginner its not too bad.

  • Gee Thanks - now I know what to do with my thumb. I was always wondering what to do with it.

  • @twebb63

I thought it was the audience that is supposed to hold the thumbs to the sky.

Maybe you could show me how you play like that in one of your many videos.

I tried it and it's impossible to do.

You will get no bounce that way.

Are you a drummer? Do you actually play like that?

I went on you tube and couldn't find one person who holds their thumbs to the sky and I looked at John, Neil, Carmine and Keith as well as some really seasoned people. Where do you get your info from?

  • @TheDrumChannel Worry not. This is just simply kick ass man.

  • @DIOTD2008

Thanks man - I appreciate that

  • TDC I am 58 and have seen many top drummers up close and you are right up there with them all. In my humble opinion ( I am a guitar player ) you are nothing less than Fantastic. Rock On Brother.

  • @Ruraljohn

Thanks - I see your also a Funk Fan too!!

    Thanks for the kind words.

  • Holy crap - you're a Human Metrinome like Ringo Starr!

And to attack a Boston tune with some ATTITUDE f'ing RULEZ!

    You're an incredible drummer!

  • @stevenkh1

Thanks - That's a really nice comment. That;s what makes you want to do more of these. Thanks again.

  • Dude! Great! Couldn't be better. Love the song and love seeing played with such control.

  • @boss55chevy Thanks so much

  • Not quite the way it was originally done, but I guess creative license, right? Well done. One of my favorite songs to drum to.

  • @TheDoug76 Well close enough for YouTube. Just have fun, that's all.
