It is such a tragic story of young boy who could grow up with beautiful future ahead of him and waylaid by drug prescription addiction. This is a post against addiction.
most addicts dont take the drugs for the high, they take it to alleviate the pain of withdrawal and detox cus they dont know any other way of dealing with it or coping. nobody tells them that. and who is the drug abuser.... the doctor who knowingly prescribes a dangerous poison or his victim, er sorry patient, who puts his trust and belief in the hands of a trained drug pusher, er sorry, doctor!
it seems we all nowadays have lost or are losing a loved one everyday to prescription abuse. i lost my mother two years ago to liver failure do to lortab abuse. and several good friends to overdose. last year i lost a good friends son who overdosed on his 18 birthday at his grandmothers house who is a drug dealer by trade and she gave him the pills then when he fell over she cleaned house before calling a ambulance he was already dead. sad but true. godbless.
My son Sean was 22 when he died from an overdose of Ritalin an amphetamine. Many of these pictures remind me of my Sean. He went to a Rehab in Houston the PaRC who kicked him out after 22 days for not buying in. Sean tried a halfway house. He died 2 days later. Now I read from the NIDA that if you don't go to at least a 90 day program their brain doesn't have a chance to heal the damage called hypofrontality. He had something like 62 (20mg) pills in his stomach. Your brother is in paradise now
I lost my 22 yr old son Sean Good to an accidental overdose of his Ritalin. He was first diagnosed at 12 with ADD. The doctors never warned us about how addictive Ritalin and Adderall all. Sean and gone through 22 days of Rehab at Memorial Herman in Houston, Tx. before they kicked him out for not buying in. Now I know the addict needs 90 days of rehab therapy to have a greater than 30% chance. Check out NIDA site for more info. I love you video, you are honoring your brother and he is paradise.
I'm not sure, but maybe if you go to their website they''ll have the lyrics. There's a link to the website if you click on the "more info" arrow above.
Anyone know the name of this song & who sings it? I have placed this video multiple times on all of my blogs that speak about prescription drug addiction. I think this young boy needs to be remembered and have his life as a testimony to save so many others. We each have a purpose and this was his. Now, he his safe and happy again with God.
marijuana is a plant and has hundreds of positive effects on human physiology. Prescription drugs however are highly concentrated chemically altered doses derived mostly from opium derivatives. While opium also comes from a plant, I do not recommend it. Marijuana is nowhere near as addictive as cigarettes, which big corporations and of course the government make a killing from. Literally, a killing. Sad to see a 22 year old die because life sucks sometimes. RIP
I attended my first city counsel meeting last night, I was the ONLY citizen to question why we are not doing anything regarding the rx abuse in this town it's ignored. They seemed in shock, they asked me to address the school board along side the Mayor, I really don't know what I'm doing but I would love to have someone speak with me that has lost their child to this. Can you give any advice or suggestions in starting a community group? I lost my husband to abuse
@1AmericaLove i help teenagers and many adults get help. first thing you do is find out about all the help centers and detox centers in youre area you can find and what it takes to get a patient in them. this way if someone approaches you for help then you can advise them to a help center to detox. the detox part of getting clean is the hardest it can take from 5 days to a month of the sick part as many call it. also suboxone doctors in youre area. write anytime. godbless.
I understand how crushing this is. She had been addicted for a few years and finally my family decided to tell her she needed to get help or she couldn't live with us. I really appreaciate your video, prescription drug abuse isn't something we are used to hearing, but it tends to effect most of us somewhere.

Thank you so much for sharing your video of such a painful loss in your life. I have had two losses, two brothers to drug oversdoses and it still haunts me till today that two lives that could have gone on and had experiences in life they will now never know. I don't know if anyone can understand that but it's a shame to lose someone so young. Anyone even trying to get off drug's, I have the up mos respect for, even if it takes many tries.
Man OC's and dillies can be addicting especially when your banging them, but nothing is more addicting or crippling then heroin addiction IMO. Sorry for your loss, I have had many friends go this way.

Very Touching Video. Sorry for your loss. I'm ex law enforcement and an ordained Baptist Minister. I never dreamed that I would become a "druggy" but after suffering a chronic bowel disorder for over a decade I found that Fentanyl and/or Oxycontin made my life livable again. The problem came after about a year of use the dosage was climbing and I had to go to illegal sources to get enough.
-cont.- The good that comes from the medicine is from God, the addiction that comes with continued use is from the Devil. The pain and horror of trying to quit "cold turkey" are more than any person can handle. Unless you have to use opiates for medical purposes PLEASE don't ever use them. The addiction is no joke and if abused opiates can be quite lethal. Please pray for addicts and their families. -God Bless-
@randy109 Bowel disorder???? Fentanyl or oxy seems like the last thing that would help. You dont go #2 for weeks on opiates and thats only after you stop taking them?
This is a very sad story-I wish the family all of the best,I will pray for you .I am now entering in my 40's,and I have abused pills since I was about 23-24.I never used to "value" my life until I met my now fiancee, and then God.I can tell you that I am still strugling,I am now down to two perk/day,and although it makes me very mody, and argumentative,my fiancee and my family are there 100%!As Im older now, life is my valued to me,and I want to sober up from all pills;)
Janell, thank you so much for sharing your brother's story. The video was deeply moving. I have a twelve year old son, and I have talked to him about drug use, but never thought to lock up our prescriptions. Thanks for making me think about it. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Bless you and your family.
Wow I am so sorry for your loss. This video really touched me. It's so sad that people have lost so many loved ones due to prescription drugs. I think your video gives others comfort knowing that people are trying to take action to prevent this from happening to others. It informs people that this is a problem and something needs to be done. Good luck and God Bless you and your family.
This video deeply touched me. I have a family member in her early 20's who went through detox for oxycontin. She's trying to self-medicate through the recovery process, but it's another form of the monster. Instead of oxy, now it's xanax, soma, subutex and suboxone. When she was in detox, they had her on 5 or 6 prescriptions (a shopping bag full from the pharmacy). They didn't teach her how to be truly free of pills. Thank you so much for this video.
I appreciate your kind words. My family member has since gone into a hospital setting to detox. We're hoping & praying she'll "wake up" from this drug-induced dream state where she feels she needs a chemical to function.
you dont just wake up, or for that matter realize you are sleeping, they hold of the drug is way too strong.... Will power and the will to live are what get you through it, something to look forward to helps, inmy case I have a 6yo son, and a beautiful wife, I was hooked on pills when I met her, and up to 2 years of my son's life, I detox with methadone which is actually worse, I went and did it cold turkey, 2 weeks of no sleep, cramps, body spams, but after 3 years now, I feel as good as ever.
Wow what a touching video and responses. It's so sad that the prescription problem is becoming bigger each day. I was a prescription pill addict & took up to 400mgs a day of oxycontin for 3 years (I am 22 years old also). They had such a grip on me that I couldn't stop even though I wanted to because of the withdrawals I felt when waking up in the morning. I am so sorry for your loss. The best thing you can do is just try and help somebody else with your story. May God Bless you and your family.
Thank you. I'm so glad to hear you overcame your addiction. It gives me hope that others can do it as well. These drugs are so hard to quit. Take care.
I am so sorry for your loss! I lost my husband last week from prescription drug abuse & the irresponsible doctors who kept prescribing the pills even after learning he was addicted! We have a 5 yr old son who cannot understand why Daddy has left him!
I am inviting you & all who read this post to join me in pushing for strict legislation and education to prevent the tragic loss of so many lives and the pain of families suffering from the prescription drug abuse of their loved ones!
I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband! I agree with you on the importance of education. People don't realize how dangerous and destructive prescription drugs are. Parents need to start treating them as loaded guns. Teach their kids they're dangerous then hide and lock them away. Good luck to you and your family.
Ijust wanted to let you know that I just recently lost my daughter Angela Marie Thorpe Dec 26th 2008 to an accidental drug overdose. The 3 drugs found inher system were oxycodone, xanax, and valium. Your video was heart felt , very touching. My brother is 42 , just finished rehab. The Dr. had him on 2 anti-depressants, oxycontin and oxycodone. He also took ambiene to sleep, which is what started the whole cycle. Each drug created new symptoms , he kept spiraling down thinking that he had all kinds of diseases and ailments. All were side effects. Since rehab, stupid Drs. keep trying to give him more prescriptions. Go figure. Many drs. are the cause of all of these additions. God Bless You!
Thank you. I know what you mean about doctors recklessly giving out prescriptions. It's so discouraging. I really hope and pray that your brother can stay clean. He's got a rough road ahead of him. Best of luck to you and your family.
my Dearest Janell and Family it is ur cousin sandy and how my heart goes out to you all. Just know that we are all here for a reason to touch someones life and he touched us all. We will miss him.The smiles, love and laughter he gave to us all, what a precious moment in time to remember. We all love you quys and we are here for you all. love you sandy and family
Janell, nothing that I could say to you would ease your pain. My heart goes out to you and your family. Life is so cruel sometimes. I can imagine how much pain is in your heart. God will take care of it. You and your family are in my prayers. Blessings.
Of something so sad, a good thing is happening. Thank you for informing us so very well. I am sorry for your family's loss, but grateful for your message.
What an amazing tribute to your brother. Thank you so much for posting it and the links more information. You have a wonderful, caring heart trying to help so that others may not have to endure the loss of a loved one from this addiction. You and your family have my deepest sympathy.
That is a beautiful and moving tribute to your brother. I hope it will save many families from the tragedy and heartache yours has endured in loosing Jared.
So sorry for your loss. I can imagine your pain. I've had a brother die, but not the same. My cousin is prescribed that terrible stuff and he is crazy and out of control to get more. It is the worst thing ever and think it should only be prescribed to terminally ill people in a great deal of pain.
I'm sorry for your loss as well. It's not easy to lose someone close to you, no matter what the circumstances. I just feel the need to warn everyone I can about this. I'm afraid your cousin is to the point where the only way he'll be able to stop is to get a judge's order to force him to complete a rehab program. Even if he wants to stop, he won't be able to do it on his own. He is enslaved to the drugs and will give up anything and anyone to get them. I'll pray he makes it through.
It is such a tragic story of young boy who could grow up with beautiful future ahead of him and waylaid by drug prescription addiction. This is a post against addiction.
