The last time I spoke with Bruce was backstage at Park West in Chicago 1984, meeting him in 1977 changed my life forever and made me a better Artist, actually he propelled me into greatness tho it took years, I met Bono Vox the same year backstage Bono on the other hand did nothing for me, Bono is not worthy to even be mentioned in the same sentence with Bruce Cockburn on any level. Bono did not believe a word I said, Bruce on the otherhand listened to every word I said, major league difference
Wow, I've only ever heard this song in accoustic settings - on "The Charity of Night" cd, and once when I saw him do an accoustic set a few years back.
Although I still like the accoustic version better, I've gotta say, this version rocks HARD. Honestly, is there anything this guy can't do? It's an absolute crime that his house isn't, like, swamped with Grammys.
Video is not the performance of this song, so I was disappointed at this post. The video is of Bruce, just a few years back however. He is a MASTER and one of top 5 favorite singer/songwriters on the planet. I used to believe it was shame he not made a commericial success in the US, but when you think about what that constitutes today, Amy Winehouse can have those honors. For real music, Bruce, Leonard Cohen, John Hiatt and others need not waste time with frivolous pursuits, the music DOES matter
Bruce Cockburn is the absolute best as a poet, musician, and humanitarian. In his way, on par with Bono. Just amazing. Too bad he isn't known by more people. He is the master craftsman of language! Love you Bruce!
As a songwriter and gifted guitarist, Bruce Cockburn blows the doors off of Bono. Get to know this legendary artist's journey. His life story is truly as inspirational as his music.
To Colleen- No, his first single came out the year I was born. 1969. (Going to the Country)... So, easily 38 years, if not more. I am a little miffed, though, about this post. I love this song, and I had a GREAT vid. Why doesn't the audio match this video. What song am I really seeing???
go easy on the cloves, they're worse than marlboros, so they say. Yeah, I went wild over Silver wheels in the early 80's. Best album? Humans, and the one with that shaman trance dance poetry thingy, jeez, the memory fails. Inner City front is quite remarkable, too. I LOVED that drummer, sorry he got booted.
Just saw Bruce this week. He is consistently fine. As good as his CDs are, he's so much better live. One of the few performers for whom I would clear my calendar.
Love this song. Love Bruce. He's awesome, incredible, and otherwise amazing. 29+ albums...this guy doesn't stop! Thanks for posting this video. I faved it. :)

Absolutely Fantastic,
I've heard Phil Keaggy Comment on a video that one of his favorite concerts ever is seeing Bruce Cockburn solo acoustic,
I'd have to agree!
