How often should you deep contition your hair? Once every 2 weeks? Once a month? etc. I have a few hair growth techniques that worked for me and I was wondering have you tried these also: massage scalp, wrap hair with silk cloth every night, olive oil products, Doo grow grease, and lastly Garnier Fructice shampoo and conditoner.
I couln't really hear this video very well. (the sound on my laptop isn't very good). Your hair looks awesome btw. I had a few questions. One, how many days before a relaxer should I deep condition it? Also, what type of relaxer would you prefer? And my last question, if I buy the relaxer that comes with all of those extra conditoners would that be too much to do a deep conditioner before using that particular relaxer??
Hi i am from the uk and as a result of watching your vid have bought the nexxuss protein treatment emergencee - although it was hard to find. I just wanted to ask how long you have been using this product and how often do you use it. As it sounds like a really good protein treatment. God Bless you.
I really think your wonderful. What do you think of apfhogee protein treatment to use?. I also dont have a dryer so how can i deep condition without? I really do appreciate your response.
@MrJerkinboy1 Olive is a good, light oil to use on your hair.. I put it right up there with avocado and coconut oil. For me, olive oil is a little pricey, so I usually cook with it rather than use it on my hair.. but it happens to be a lot easier to find than avocado or coconut so feel free to use it!
Thank you for responding. I wanted to ask you the patene mask was very hard to find last week but I went to a beauty supply store to find it. Is there something else I could use in the future in the place of this?
@sweetie46100 Any moisturizing deep conditioner could be used. Really, the pantene mask is just a thick, moisturizing deep conditioner, so it could be substituted with anything like that.
I finally purchased extra virgin coconut oil this weekend and I plan to use before I get my relaxer. I wanted to ask mines says to put in the refrigerator after opening. if I did that how would I use it to put on my hair. Does it have to go in the refrigerator? I purchased it at vitamin world
You could keep it in the refrigerator to help it last longer. They probably assumed you purchased the coconut oil for cooking, and keeping it at low temps (refrig) helps stop oils from spoiling or going rancid too quickly. I keep mine under my bathroom sink and it has been fine for over a year.. so you really can decide what is conveinient for you :)
I know you use the enphuse reconstructor a few days before relaxing. Do you use it any other times before this? If you are stretching for 12 weeks do you use the emergencee protein every 6 weeks or do you just wait after you stretched the 12 weeks and do it after your relaxer. I am trying to find out how many protein treatment are done in a 12 week period.
Good question. For me, I use protein only "as needed" to control breakage. Otherwise, I'm always using moisturizing products. But, you have to listen to your own hair. Emergencee is strong, so I usually will only use it once or at most twice in a whole relaxer cycle. Enphuse is a mild-medium protein, so you can use it more frequently.. like once a week or every 2 weeks as needed. Basically, don't use the protein on a schedule, just use it when you need to control breakage.
When you say a few days before you do your relaxers you do nothing else to your hair. What does that mean? Do you not oil the ends or anything? How do you wear your hair those few days up to getting your relaxer?
Just want to take a quick moment and wish you a merry christmas. I went out and purchased the nexxus emergencee today and I am looking forward to using it. It says to leave on for 1-2 mins. since this is my first time using it should I follow the box directions? so much knowlege, because of You I have gotton serious about my fine hair. I really did not know how to take care of it.
Thanks, sweetie :) I hope you had a great Christmas and that your New Year will bring you lots of peace and happiness! I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner, but you can either leave Emergencee on for 1-2 min as instructed, or leave it in for longer, and let it harden like I demonstrate. I think the 2nd method is the most powerful for stopping breakage, but you can try it acc. to the directions on your first try, if you'd like :) Best!
I went out to purchased the Nexxus phyto organic Enphuse intensive reconstructor but JC penney did not have. I have fine hair and I was wondering if you could recommend something else that I could get to use next week before I have my relaxer done and how to use it. I will be 12 weeks and right now I have some good new growth. will wash hair tomorrow do you think I should try another roller set or let it air dry and put it in a bun. I can still managed my hair
I have heard ApHogee has a good 2 minute reconstructor, which you could use as a protein treatment up to about 4 days or so before your relaxer- I wouldn't recommend washing any later than that. I can't give you a personal testimonial on the Aphogee, but I have heard good things about it. I've also tried Aveda's Damage Remedy protein reconstructor and it works well but it's a bit on the expensive side. If you plan on getting the Enphuse at some point, maybe pick up the cheaper Aphogee till then.
Heyyyy LOL me again I have a question.. After doing all these prep on ur hair do u still experience if at all n e hair loss due to the relaxer? That's my fear since Ive experience that in the past..and also ok two questions LOL after u wash to allow ur hair to air dry do u still apply a leave-in conditioner that contains protein?
I think a little bit of breakage is unavoidable, and I still do get a small amount, no matter what I do. As far as shedding goes, like where I lose hair from the roots, that's part of your hair's natural cycle, so I get that too but it's nothing to worry about. I always apply leave-in to my hair after washing it no matter how I plan to style it. Hope this helps! :)
Hi I love all of your videos, you have been very very helpful to me. Thank you!!! I will be getting a relaxer in 2 weeks and i want to do the mild protein treatment you used in the video but i didn't catch the name of it. Will you please post the name the product so i may purchase it? Thanks a lot!!
Thanks! I think you mean "Enphuse". It's a mild protein conditioner by Nexxus Phyto Organics. You can get it from JC Penny salons, and maybe other types of salons, but I'm pretty sure that line isn't sold in stores.
I always follow Emergencee with a moisturizing conditioner to make sure my hair has a good balance of protein and moisture. And I only do Emergencee treatments right after a relaxer or if my hair is experiencing an unusual amount of breakage.
The straightening effect is permanent, however, whatever new hair grows after the treatment will of course grow in as your natural texture- hence, the need for retouches.
chemical straightening lasts forever. However, as your new growth comes in, if you want to maintain it, you need to apply a relaxer to the new growth -- this should be done no sooner than every 6 weeks
Sorry for my late response! I was trying to look up some information for you... There are other proteins besides Keratin, and there's nothing inherently wrong with it but the strength (i.e. the %) of the protein in the product makes it light or heavy. Products like Aubrey Organics GPB protein conditioner and Nexxus Enphuse and maybe even one of ApHogee's protein conditioners could classify as "light". A good rule of thumb is that if it says "treatment" or "reconstructer" it's going to be strong.
DCing is ALWAYS a good idea, especially before and after a harsh treatment like a relaxer! What you use is your choice, but I do like to use protein right before and right after my relaxer. I usually do mix in something moisturizing so my hair doesn't feel crunchy, and oil is a great addition as well. Of course, you could use just the protein DC by itself, if you like it better that way :-)
so would it be good to DC on dry hair with protein condictioner and mixed with a couple other things berfore i get my hair relaxed and after I get my hair relaxed??

Enphuse is from the Phyto Organics (nexxus) line. It's the protein counterpart to the humectin moisturizing conditioner.
