What a nonsense written by someone who has never read original sources written before the 19th century. Some days ago I finished reading a book published in the 17th century by Samuel von Pufendorf in which he explicitly clarifies how the "German Empire" works. So a man from the 17th century called himself a German and wrote about a state he called "German Empire"--and now you're telling me that Germany was "invented" in the 19th century. What a nonsense.

In 1867, Bismarck founded a state called North German Confederation. In 1870/71, the Kingdoms of Bavaria and Wurttemberg, and the Grand Duchies of Baden and Southern Hesse joined this state which was then re-named into "German Empire." Other German states, such as Luxembourg or Liechtenstein, did not join this state. Neither did other Germanic states such as Denmark, Norway or Iceland. Bismarck didn't found the German nation. He just united SOME German states.
