  • thank u

  • One of the best scenes from LOTR ever! It always makes me tear-up when I see Eldarion.

FYI: Eldarion is her son's name.

FYI again: the name of the elf who says, "My lady Arwen, we cannot delay..." is named Aegnor and he is Galadriel's brother according to the Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien!

Thumbs up if you didn't know that before~

  • who lives forever anyways...

  • Maybe, Lord Voldemort? :D

  • @desperategamer93 never watched Harry Potter... look up on Youtube "Why, Mr. Anderson? Why?" LoL

  • I love this Scene!!

  • hanon le

  • I'd choose Aragorn over immortality any day!!

  • Whats the name of the theme song in this video pls anyone?

  • 1:03 - 1:08 Arwen's thoughts: "....You're mine... You're my baby, and you'll never be born if I keep going."

  • Best two minute twenty-eight second anti-abortion commercial ever created.

  • Most touching scene in the movie

  • ohhh the music -_-

  • The sacrifice she made for her children is heartbreaking.

  • This is a fairy tale over which both women and men weep. Whenever there's a scene with Elves, i feel as if something is stuck in my throat.

  • "I looked into your future and I saw death"

Great thing to tell your daughter! LOL but an epic scene and movie.

  • @bht9234 She dies alone, brokenhearted in the Lothlorien forest after Aragorn dies. Elrond forsaw this, you can't blame a father wanting to protect her daughter.

  • I love this scene, but I think It's sad that Arwen sees Aragorn & her son, but not herself in the future.

  • @MyFlame1000 I totally agree.

  • @MyFlame1000 Yes, but in life we can't have everything and I think that this vision of the future is much better than that one in which she saw herself as a widow, don't you think?

  • 1:36 is bret from flight of the conchords :)

  • Despite what Elrod says, I think it's very wise of Arwyn to choose love over immortality.

  • Magic... I love all of them, Elves

  • what is the song that plays.....what is it called?

  • 1:35 "...... shit... what did I say?"

  • Guys...sad thing is she bears Aragon 3 children and then when Aragon dies she goes back to where her mother and grandmother were and they all left for the ships....so she lies down on the grass in the forest and dies of a broken heart.

  • @Rukia91554 Are you serious or joking? Thats awful ending for her, I must read the book if its true. O_o

  • @jaarekparf It's true....I cried I really did. Arwen chose love insted of choosing her father...female elves only have that choice. It was impossible for her to love anyone else but Aragorn.

  • @Rukia91554 Wait! Question. Can male elves love more than once, or are they subject to that rule of only loving once? It sucks for the ladies then.

  • @hellcatedy73 Nope men can rome the women varitiy as much as they want. Rules just apply for the ladies.

  • @Rukia91554 So can male elves die of heartbreak?

  • @hellcatedy73 Nope.

  • @Rukia91554 Interesting. That's too bad for the ladies. It seems women always get shortchanged, even in fiction.

  • @Rukia91554 Really? Is that in the appendices of the book. I never read them all. Thats heartbreaking.

  • @bellajacklil Ya pretty much it's very heart traumatizing.

  • @Rukia91554 Stupid Aragorn.

He totally CHOSE to die- Nevermind she would've died two years later.. He should've waited.

  • @CathannahShowani No....I think it's perfect the way it went. Female Elves only get one love of their life and Arwen chose Aragon. If she hadn't stayed...she'd be regreting it her whole life. Atleast she loved...than to loose love for eternity.

  • 1:11 love the look the boy gives. It's as if he's asking "do you want this future?"

  • @caohanlu I think that is exactly what was meant at that moment.

  • Did some reading on this part. Turns out that, according to J.R. that Eru (God) shows her this vision.

  • should have let it go to when she dropped the book... :( What an amazing movie. I'm in university, and they teach you how to analyze and close read things (books/films). But, i would really not rather analyze this with any intellect. This movie is so great, and with scenes like this, the only way i like to watch it is with my heart, to feel it with my soul; not to analyze and be critical about it. The scenes like this are just so beautiful, they really connect with what is inside you. :)

  • Elf maids did it for love but elf men didn't? They had less to lose.

  • I've just bought a good new heaphone. And when I watch this clip, I almost cry.. Such beauty..

  • Deep!

I do the same choice (love or life) 10 years ago and... hmmm...

    I'm not an elf!!!

    :(

  • Can you imagine looking into the future and seeing the face of your child who won't be born??

As a father myself, this is just un-imagineable. Pain on a level that's just impossible to comprehend.

  • GAH I THINK I SAW GLORFINDEL. -freaks out-. I really hate how they ruined his scene in the movie. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO HELP FRODO.. NOO!! D:

    yay anyways!

  • This part always makes me a bit misty.

  • 1:38 is Brett McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords

  • @Rorschached

Yup, and he is going to be in 'The Hobbit', too! :) It is now official, and the movie will be out in 2012.

  • @Daniel82792

I think that's part of the reason the scene is so powerful, though. The look on Eldarion's face just seems to say, " I love you so much, Mommy. Isn't it worth it to stay here with me?"

And what woman in her right mind would disagree?

  • @Serena2009ification

    Fantastic point.

    Well made.

  • This scene alwats makes me cry.....Sadwyn is so inocent in those days....oh if we could only make time stand still.

    jedi

  • This Brings Tears to my eyes.

  • Arwen [Liv Tyler] had to cry *way* too much in that film. I hope that in *The Hobbit* [yes, she's there according to all the press releases] they give her some happy time.

  • @McGrottomaster

I agree but that was the nature of the whole trilogy. It was a story of tragedy, war and suffering. She smiled at the end.

  • I love Arwen and Legolas (:

    They're so..Whatever, no words for (:

  • Arwen probably doesn't realize she'll have to wash his dirty underpants as well. Aah, that makes me feel better. This scene is far too romantic.

  • At the end.

Elrond said: "That future is almost gone".

Arwen answered and said: "But it is not lost".

  • The next of my most favorite scenes from the movie after the scene in The Two Towers with Aragorn and Arwen.

  • shivers

  • I feel all tingly

  • That boy's name is Eldarion, right?

  • @TheBumbleBunny Yes, their only son. And future heir to Gondor.

  • @TheBumbleBunny plus they have two daughters that Tolkien didn't name them.

  • @cefanine

They have AT LEAST two daughters, you mean :-/ Not only did Tolkien not name them, he didn't even say how many there were. He just referred to them in the plural, meaning there were at least 2.

  • Haha in this scene it's more like "Freaking insanely gorgeous - WHO IS THAT?!" rather than "Frodo is great- who is that?!"

  • It's not the number of days that measure a life but how we filled them.

  • one look at this movie and i fall head over heals for it all over again.

  • curse on you the ones dislike this awesome video

  • "But there is also life."

  • The elf who so rudely interrupts Arwen is named Figwit.

He's played by the guy from Flight of the Conchords.

Someone said his name means: "Frodo is great, who is that?"

  • Oh god Elves are beautiful ....I wanna be an elve

  • When my family and I first saw this movie, we freaked because that kid looks so much like me.

  • Always found it funny when she decided to ride back to Rivendell all the other elves don't even bother to say anything or look back.

  • I'd marry any elven girl. Who cares, they are all pretty.

  • @Aranadhel

They are beautiful, but they don't belong with mortals. It can only end in tragedy.

It is a point Tolkien made more than once.

The tale of Imrazor and Mithrellas is a case in point.

She bore him children, but simply disappeared one night never to be seen again, perhaps because she didn't feel comfortable in watching her husband age and die.

Could you really marry an elven lady, knowing that ultimately it would be 50 years of joy, followed by an eternity of separation?.

  • @neohip Aye I know what the consequences are. But as you can see from the books it has always been the elven ladies that chose to marry a mortal. :)

  • 2:12

To this, my mind always seems to add, "It was Professor Plum in the library with the lead pipe."

  • ♥super

  • she looks like a painting. the lighting/ make up makes her looks so angelic

  • @fleurgi My thoughts exactly... There's something about her face that is so calming

  • T_________T

  • 1.43 ,he's the lady now

  • I picture this as me in heaven as a child running toward Jesus <3

  • love this movie! a million times better than that twilight crap. this what movies are about.

  • Perfect scene!!!

  • @duhastmitch wish it was just a little longer!!! :-(

  • He's Viggo Mortensen son no?

  • @loubo2

No,he is Sadwyn Brophy, the son of Jed ,an actor in many of Peter Jacksons films, who played several Orc roles in the trilogy.

Jed will play Nori in the Hobbit.

  • @loubo2 He really looks like he could be the child of Aragorn and Arwen - that was a beautiful casting job! Viggo's son I think was a teenager when LOTR was filmed so nope that's definitely not his son.

  • bellbirds at the begining, love it

  • SHE´S MY WIFE

  • since the kid is half half, will he inherit the never dying gene of elvish or aragon's human life span? I'm guessing aragon's or an extended life span

  • @ErtomicV

Since his mother chose a mortal life and the Elvish grace passed away from Middle Earth before he was born, the son is mortal. In the books, it said that he lived for about 100 years. He got the Numernorean royalty longevity genes from his father, but he still did not live as long as Aragorn did.

  • @Serena2009ification thanks, forgot about that part.

  • @ErtomicV no problem

  • What is song please?

  • @Nobutada1957

The Return of the King Soundtrack-Twilight and Shadow

  • @spaceoflove thanks guy, i've the album but i don't find the title of the song, Thanks

  • what an unbelievably emotional scene - for a woman to look into the future and see her unborn child looking back at her, with the awful realization of all the life and love she was about to throw away

  • somebody , know the name of this song?

i need, i can't remember the name of the song is true ... i need

with this song remember to mi father...

    please

  • @xirionsioux It is Twilight and Shadow on the regular Return of the King Soundtrack, Grace of Undomiel on the Return of the King Complete Recordings.

  • OMG! I HAD TO WATCH IT OVER! THE GUY TRYING TO STOP HER IS THE RHYMENOSEROUS! IT'S BRET FROM FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS! XD

  • "Lady Arwen, we cannot delay." Shut up, Figwit. You don't know her! You don't know where she's been!

  • Liv is so beautiful. Flawless. Loved her in this movie.

  • "lady Arwen, We cannot delay" ...aren't they immortal. They have an infinite amount of time.

  • @GeeZone777 They have to get to the ship before it sails, the one that would have taken her across the sea to the Undying Lands.

  • To me, the LOTR series has some of the most beautiful imagery and some of the scenes look like they were taking from stained glass murals

  • for me, lord of the rings is like the best movie of all times.

and this scene is so incredibly beautiful!

  • @xSchiggyx I agree I love it soo much its like a story book. Peter jacksons an amazing director

  • Im pretty sure this is my favorite scene in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

  • The elf who says "Lady Arwen we can not delay" is Bret from Flight of the Conchords XD they really do have the most awesome people in this movie.

  • She is amazing , so beautifull

fantastic scene , GO FOR IT arwen go for love fight for it hold it in your heart there is always a way!

  • I kinda cryed in the theater the 1st time I saw this

  • I do love the Elves. What makes me sad is that in virtually every incarnation, they are a dying people, or are departing from the world. I know, all things must come to an end, eventually- But the beauty and majesty of the Elves is partially what makes Lord of the Rings so appealing

  • @NicholasGeschke They are just fine in Raymond Feist's series.

  • @NicholasGeschke tolkien predicted the evles as whites in the future eventually the white race will decay

  • @solanut

That's quite untrue. Elves were always their own species, though they were based mostly on the Finnish people whose pral traditions were gradually dying out and whose legacy Tolkien wanted to protect. National Geographic did a documentary on it; you might want to watch it sometime.

  • @Serena2009ification yeah i saw it but it does mention of tolkiens true pure harmonic side of his people its kind of hard too go into detail or explain this

  • @solanut

Yes, but that doesn't have anything to do with them being white.

  • @NicholasGeschke

    Beautifully put.

They are a people who we'd all love to be and who we really should try to aspire to be.

  • @NicholasGeschke i felt sorry for them. This is paganism though. Chrisitian elves make toys for brats.

  • god i love this scene so much. it's so powerful, and the look that Arwen's son gives her is beyond words

  • 2:08 "FlashForward" in "Lord of the Rings", eh? What did you see?... Ah... so funny, and I never realized that until now. :)

  • Powerful music

  • I love this scene! And that boy really does look like Aragorn and Arwen's son. There's something slightly elvish about that kid too. Congrats to the casting people for finding him =)

  • "El paralelismo de tu vida, no es el mismo que el de tus sueños..."

  • This scene gives me chills every time I see it.

  • The scenes with Arwen were crucial because they allowed you to take a bathroom break.

  • @Chrisdrumz what do you mean? This is beautiful! I live this scene!

  • @supersmashtuezday I think this scene was great 2! It was crucial to the movie in that it allowed me(and other DUDES) to go take a wiz and maybe get some Twizzlers.

  • 1:39 - I love the fact thats Bret from flight of the concords :).

  • Beautiful...A favourite scene from the final film.

  • I want Arwen's dress!

  • Oh- Mi- Lord! so freaking beautiful!

  • This is Really Great Scene .. and I mean it .

  • the guy who says "lady arwen we cannot delay" is flippin HOT

  • @peechyq

Its Brett McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords AKA 'FIGWIT'

  • Eldarion... that is his name

  • @AMNlinkinparkfan115 that's aragorn's son... and unless I miss my guess, his name means son of the eldar...

  • @alahad Yea I know

  • Finally I found this vid. ... amazing song !

  • Truly one of the most touching scenes in film history.

  • This's my favorite scene in the movie! So beautiful and sad

  • @italianzorro his dad (Jed Brophy) played orcs!

  • SOOOO BEAUTIFUL

  • and on a random not, the elf who says "we cannot delay" is one of the comedians of the tv comedy "flight of the conchords"

  • Its incredible how much the actor who played young Eldarion acctually

looked like both Aragorn and Arwen, its like he is really their son.

  • A scene that we all imagine from time to time...................................

How we would react if we were given the chance of eternal life and what we would give to receive it ??

Would we leave all chance of the type of vision that Arwen had ?? Or 'take' eternal life?

My little girl has just turned 4.

    I agree with Arwen !!!!

  • But it is not lost.

  • It's Bret!

  • Eldarion is such an intense little tyke.

  • Is Aragorn in Annuminas in Arwen's dream? It looks like a beautiful city, possibly Minas Tirith as well

  • Meravigliosa scena, meravigliosa musica

  • "That future il almost gone"

    "But it is not lost"

    just wonderful

  • I love this scene too

  • My favourite scene x

  • that is a beautiful child.

  • 1:39 - is that brent from flight of the conchords?

  • good recognition...!!

  • The expressive stare in the child's gaze - worthy of a Sergio Leone pic, (the 'meaningful stares' close-up characteristic).

The photographic effects were stunning in this scene, as with all the scenes in this movie. Liv Tyler is pure beauty!

  • What did u see and theirs also life u saw a child u saw my son

  • lol not like this is real

  • I was obsessed with this scene when it first came out on d.v.d lol!

But it does show the true meaning of love!

  • Me too! My fave scene I think.

  • 1:39 Bret McKenzie from Flight of the Conchords as Elf Escort lollolol.

  • Every time I watch this scene, I think: "My god, the casting director is a GENIUS." He is a perfect blend of Arwen and Aragorn.
