  • I worked with Franchot Tone on an Alfred Hitchock and it was on Utube and now it's gone. Darn I wish I could get that show in it's entirety. Sharon Farrell He was so wonderfull to me and I didn't even know who he was at the time. We had wonderful lunches together but I never knew he was such a big star. He didn't have a big ego at at. He should have told me!Darn , Darn Darn!

  • It's great to see a tribute to this wonderful actor, who is not well known by most people today. For those interested in finding out what Franchot Tone was like as an actor, see him in the MGM l935 version of "Mutiny on the Bounty", starring Clark Gable and Charles Laughton. Tone's best scene occurs near the end of the movie, but he has a major role as Fletcher Christian's (Gable's) best friend, Midshipman Roger Byam. Tone is really radiant in that movie.

  • What a great guy!! Unfortunate that many only see his act today as a creepy older man on Twilight Zone reruns.

  • My God the man looks good in a hat.

  • most old movie stars are amazing looking in hats...Jimmy Stewart, Spencer Tracy, Gregory Peck, Clark Gable, etc.

I wish guys still wore hats like that.

  • don't forget joseph cotten. i always thought he looked better in a hat.

  • i love the 1930's and the 1940's.. i found a barbor shop were they style men's hair cut. just like in the golden age hollywood

  • hi there...

    very tastefully done!

I think franchot tone is one of the most underated male stars ever...I first came to know him because of joan crawford..she married tone after she divorced from fairbanks JR if i recall right..crawford didnt treat him very well from all the books ive read over the years..I heard soemthing once that JC walked in on franchot tone and bette davis in compromising postions..not sure if its ture but it would have made one hell of a movie!

  • I love Franchot.

  • Franchot Turtle?

  • A true gentleman maybe but he got mixed up in the Barbara Payton Tom Neal love triangle that nearly killed him. Its a fascinating story well worth looking up.

  • he died from lung cancer:( he was a gentleman

  • what a gorgeous man!!

  • Couldn't ask for a nicer tribute. Franchot Tone was a fine actor in his own right but how nice that you remember him for his smile, and here you've showcased it splendidly. Excellent job!

  • I adore Franchot :D

  • Loved it!

  • Aww! That was sweet...

  • haha he doesss look like a turtle haha good one although i never knew that was his name ... interesting
