  • I just watched I'm a beliver and I'm thinking what the he'll happened to the cute drummer from before?

  • Mike is the best in this, just saying...and Micky singing's great.

  • Micky's got chops. People think that Davy was the voice, but Micky was the one that saved their albums.

Michael Nesmith could hit such a high note. Check out his voice on the 'Magnolia Sims' song

Peter played every instrument inder the sun and became a music instructor.

    Davy was professional jockey.

    What a talented band!

Thanks Sara Me 287! You rock!

  • Um.... is it just me or does this sound REALLY similar to Barbra Ann by the Beach Boys?? // Possible plagerism aside, i LOVE how they goof around so comically: these guys definitely knew how to have a good time on camera :D

  • cool how Mike's all old school -makes a nice contrast to the typical 60's get-ups of the others

  • I grew up with 'The Greatest Hits of The Monkees'... that CD was played many many times in my household... and still is :)

  • " ONE MORE TIME FOR RINGO,....... I WONDER IF HE KNOWS" See they were great friends THE BEATLES THE MONKEES :)

  • Micky is so spastic.....Love him!

  • @HighlyIllogical77 LOL XD i know right Thats why i love him :)

  • @HighlyIllogical77 LOL XD i know right Thats why i love him :)

  • I don't like the Beatles but I LOVE the Monkees.

  • kind of like a response to the Beatles, "I'm Down"

  • 'never mind the furthermore, the plea is self-defense'

    ah, to be young again~

  • i like micky's hair and that poncho-like thing hes wearing

  • @paloma598 poncho is a table cloth he cut in '67!

  • Newsflash, Aug.8, 2011:

Remaining dates for 45th Anniv. tour cancelled.

Issued statement reads due to "..irreconciliable differences...We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your continued support of The Monkees."

  • Monkees have the best dance moves!

  • I love these guys I wish I could meet them someday

  • the rainbow room gets me high lol.

  • like if you're a teen listening to this! :

    <3

  • I love micky's face at 0:33

  • Rock on, George for Ringo XD viva ringo the beatles

  • Mike = FAIL!

  • Just saw the Monkees in concert last week. It was fantastic. They still sound and look great. I just love those guys. There were people there of all ages and it was like a giant party.

  • Micky was and still is HOT!

  • omg they are so adorable together. Micky had an incredible voice

  • Oh this guy are so silly lol

  • you know they don't make music like that any more it is a shame well done my friend good job 10000000 stars ******** well done

  • I used to watch them on Monday nights. Still have their original LPs, too.

  • Micky even looks foxy wearing what appears to be a tablecover.

  • Davy's face at 0:09 is so cute :)

  • Orlando Bloom´s father at lead vocals?

  • this may piss some people off. they were better then the beatles. think about what i just said., carefully.

  • Love them since I was 12 ~~~ hard to believe I am a certain age and still love them! lol

  • i got time for this song! LOL :)

  • Just posted: new NO TIME Monkees video by Monkees608.

    "Mike Nesmith for Mayor!"

  • Love this song and the video. The three Monkees (minus Mike) are coming to Jacksonville in the fall -- debating whether or not I should buy a ticket.

  • Oh Davey Jones :D He's so short and adorable!

  • The line "Andy you're a dandy, you don't seem to make no sense" is a reference to Andy Warhol.

  • I noticed that he says 'nevermind the further more the plea is self defense' Like in zilch

  • Groovy Ponchos!

    (Columbus, Ohio)

  • Mike has glasses in this...okay...

  • Notice how the kids today are wearing their hair like Mickey, Davy, and Peter?

  • Can u post the video like this 4 "She Hangs Out"???

  • Mike and Micky r so darn cute

  • hahahahahahahahaha, they must really like that 'freaky rainbow room'

  • whats Micky's,and peter's actual name? and he had some weird hair

  • @paloma598 They're mostly known as Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork, but were born George Michael Dolenz Jr. and Peter Halsten Thorkelson. Haha, I love Micky's hair. :)

  • @sarame287 thx wasn't mike's named Robert Micheal Nesmith and Davy's David Thomas Jones

  • @paloma598 Yes indeed!

  • @paloma598 i think he straightened his hair sometimes!

  • @mariomaniac6411 yeah i think so too

  • Seeing these videos and others like them makes me ACHE for those wonderful times to come back...

  • @IzziBella234 He says "Hoberreeber sabasoben hobaseebasnick seberaber hobosoben, what did you expect?" It's just nonsense. :)

  • @sarame287 Wasn't the nonsensical lyric based on Bill Cosby? I seem to recall reading that. it was an homage to Bill Cosby doing that in his comedy act.

  • @sarame287 giberish anagrams for how have you been/been a while since I've seen you

  • Wow, John Fogerty totally stole the melody of the first 2 lines when he sang "Travelin' Band". No Time was released in 1967; Travelin' Band came out in 1970. I guess John was a Monkees fan.

  • @zkxv They are both borrowing from Little Richard. But it's all ok.

  • aw the memories!

  • i never missed this show-thanks!

  • Poorboy's,,,,, America'a Anwser to The Beatles? LMFAO....

  • This is cool! It makes you want to dance! And I love the clothes, particularly Micky's flowered caftan (is that what it's called? No matter, it's awesome, whatever it is!) and Davy's intricately patterned jacket!

I always thought it was odd that they had Mike be the one to step the wrong way, since on the show it was Peter who played a sort of dorky character who might do something like that...

  • @CousinJustice15652, it's called a poncho. and here i show my age:)

  • @susandiane Thanks :) I actually *did* know what it's called, but at the time I was typing that comment I couldn't bring the right word to mind. When it finally occurred to me later, I didn't ever get around to correcting myself.

Actually, Micky isn't wearing a real poncho at all, but rather a tablecloth he bought and cut a hole in. Totally groovy!

  • @CousinJustice15652 he said that in his book, i'm a believer

  • @bkthin And in a lot of other places, like interviews and commentaries. I actualy learned the tablecloth fact from reading Monkees trivia and such on the Web.

I really LOVE that tablecloth for some reason. I wish I had one like it; I'd wear it all the time! :D

  • is it mike nesmith or kevin jonas????

  • I've seen them in concert!

  • Reminds me a "I'm down" by The Beatles...

  • @HitlerWasRight2010 i want my mom to take me to that concert (i'm only 12 and she got me hooked), that would be awesome! but i thought i read that Davy died

  • ミッキーのボーカルは凄く過小評価されていますよね。

    リズム感が抜群で、私は大好きなんです。

  • ...never mind the furthermore, the plea is self defense.....

  • The title comes from the group needing one more song but had "no time" to find one, the album's due date was approaching fast. So Mike and Micky strung together a series of one-liners, improvised the melody in the studio and recorded it live - no overdubs. The songwriting was credited to Hank Cicala, their studio engineer whom they all really liked, so he could get a piece of the royalties.

  • what were their years?

  • THE Monkees are still Groovy!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • im 15 years old and can proudly say ive seen every episode of the monkees and know the lyrics to all their songs :)

  • @glamourgal2234 Where do u get the shows??? Im 13 and only seen like 4 to 5 of their shows!

  • @monkeeslover12 aww man that sucks!

um my dad is a big monkees fan so we owned all the vhs tapes as a kid and now we bought both seasons on dvd...you should totally buy them its worth every penny!

  • @glamourgal2234 Dang lucky.... We have some cds but i loveee the monkees

  • @monkeeslover12 haha me too! i watch them all the time...i really want one of their 8 button shirts lol

  • @glamourgal2234 Their what shirts????!!!!

  • @monkeeslover12 Watch the video of Last Train to Clarksville. The guys are wearing their 8 button shirts.

  • @Poochyenagirl Oh hahah those!

  • Comment removed

  • @glamourgal2234 Wow! This is just awesome!! Reading that 13-year olds and 15-year olds today are loving the Monkees!! (I was 19 when I became a Monkee fan in 1986). I'm 44 today and they still bring a smile to my face. I'm so glad to know young people today are enjoying them. They are a talent that will never die!

  • @sshelget The Monkees will last for generations!

  • I want the rainbow room, Mikes hat wool hat that he isn't wearing here, AND Micky's tablecloth poncho! lol 8]

  • "Freaky rainbow room..."

  • lol

  • lol...Mike at 0:41

  • Mike looks so cute in this. Peter always looks cute.

  • This video always makes me smile

  • My mom and dad were so lucky to grow up in the 60's, 70's and 80's...

  • I saw this show when it came out, still good!

  • One of my favorite songs!

  • these guys were huge stoners

  • unless you are a drummer the hardest thing to do is sing and drum. I feel for Mickey having to pretend to drum while delivering sme of the most soulfu and memorable lyrics of the era

  • @thanksforthemessdick Micky dolenz is a acomplished drummer, you can´t appreciate it in lip-sincs clips like this video clip but when you watch them live them you say: "Yeah, he´s real..." by the way, he´s soulful... you´re right...

  • They are so crazy funny (in a good way!)

  • this song is fun to sing with friends when your drunk

  • Saw them do this live, Micky rocked his ass off! These guys took too much flack for being a fake band. It was only their first 2 albums for which they all didn't participate musically. On their 3rd album they won artistic control, played instruments, wrote songs, arranged everything and much to the surprise of the critics they released a brilliant album.

  • They certainly got a lot of mileage out of that striped set.

  • lol only the monkees

  • I love this song it is one of my favorites

  • the mickey dolenz.......he's sooooooo funny!!!

  • Love these guys..... Yeah George Michael Dolenz is good as a singer... they are. School days I had the biggest crush on Mickey (along with some others). HA! I still enjoy listening to these guys and would still watch their show and the Movie Head.

  • how cute! too bad the audio is rough on this.

  • Mickey is a hell of a singer. This song is straight ahead rock and roll, like Chuck Berry, Little Richard or early Beatles, and Mickey rocks it. LIsten to "Going Down" and he can scat out a blues riff.

  • the monkees are the shit!!! they need to induct them into the rock hall before they pass!!! they have some great music and are extremely talented guy!!!! NOT FAIR!!!!!

  • I love the monkees

    maia

  • Who's playing the daylights out of that Bass? Could it be Carol Kaye? Joe Osborne, maybe?

  • @LarryRickenbacker chip, it's chip douglas, he produced the LP also, he was in the turtles before this

  • Great 60's rock song

  • How'd ye call the shirt which davy's wearing in this?

  • It's a Nehru shirt....

  • @flamesounds

    Ah thanks :)

Btw I'm totally confused by this new Youtube layout...

  • I love Davy's clothes :)

  • I look forward to the footage of Davey's extended tambourine solos.

  • *Davy

  • This is awesome

I feel like compiling splices of video of me letting loose to this music

  • thank you for posting my cover of "Early morning blues and greens" (off Headquarters) as a video response

  • I would love to be the Monkees! This video looks like it was a bunch of fun to do!

  • This should be a video for teens/young adults to their parents (ages 18 to 20).

  • Ha ha I like how Mike keeps pointing the wrong way :P

  • ....... im doing a report on the monkees so if any one could give me some information that would be awesome

  • What type of info are you looking for? Feel free to email me, if you haven't already turned in your report.

  • you can ask me anything you need to. I don't know everything about them, But I know pretty close to most. I've already done 9 projects for them

  • Micky wrote a bio. youcan probably get

it at library, or on line somewhere. also

if you can find them old Teen Mags

  • ミッキーがカッコ良く見えるのは、

    私だけですか?

    なんか1人だけ日本語だ・・・

  • It was one of their concert numbers, simple blues chords. They were fun years;glad all of them also survived.

  • lol micky at 0:32 :)

    love the monkees, best band.

  • Does anyone who knows anything about Rock n' Roll seriously think that these guys deserve a place in line in front of the Shangri Las? Isn't the RNRHOF a big enough joke as it is?

  • Comment removed

  • mike nesmith should have dropped out when his mom invented liquid white out!!

  • That was b4 the monkees

  • Why?

  • I liked Mickey with straight hair.

  • this sounds alot like "im down".....lol

  • AS long as Jann Wenner is alive, Its my opinion that he'll block any attempt to induct the Monkees as well as the Raiders, Hermits Sonics, & other acts not perceived to meet his standards of "hipness". What Wenner did to the DC5 is a shame & disgrace-they reportedly got more votes than Grandmaster Flash (who is NOT rock & roll in my book) but Wenner reportedly decided "its time to induct a hip-hop act". Mike Smith should've enjoyed this moment before he died. Wenner, I hope you rot in hell

  • Agreed Bop, however in my opinion the Monkees do not deserve to be in the R&R Hall of Fame. They were a fabricated band for a television show. Almost all of their records were backed by studio musicans and aside from Nesmith, they created no original tunes. They were television performers...period. Pretending to be a legitimate band caused a lot of resentment towards them, and rightfully so.

  • Part of the criteria for induction is influence. Its my belief that a lot of people picked up instruments after watching the "Pre-Fab Four"

  • the monkees should be in for 2 reasons: the introduction jimi hendrix to american audiences. & white out (just kidding). the moog synth. true, they were a pre-fab band, but they became a band.

  • yes flash & the 5 are not rock & roll. they got in because they helped get hip hop into the mainstream.

  • I WANT that Rainbow room!!

  • I know, it's awsome

  • @namniekib Me too ... that'd be sooo cool!

  • bet all you kid didn't know Micky wasn't

a drummer till the show aired. taught

    himself. I'M SO ENVIOUS!!!

  • I dont think he taught himself

  • Not really.... Peter taught him a couple basic rhythms as early as the pilot episode's filming. Because they were jamming as early as off times of filming. So before the show aired... actually.

  • wanna bet? I already knew that. massive Monkeemania freak. I try to find out everything and anything out about the monkees. My favorite band. And Micky is my fave on top of that.

  • thanks Micky. My fav song of yours. Every

teen in the 60's and 70's identified with

    this song.

  • I got the whole series and head on VHS.

And no, Micky did NOT have his hair permed, he was having it pressed straight all the time. This was his natural look, he wanted to finally give his hair a break from pressing and earlier on being Peroxided blonde(!) for his earlier show "Circus Boy"(billed as Mickey Braddock )

He said the same woman who bleached his hair was the same woman who later pressed it out! Crazy!

In the 70's I think he did get it permed, it didn't look natural anymore.

  • Well, I think his natural look is way more hotter than straight hair look.

  • Let's all go crazy together!

  • I have seen every episode of the monkees, including there movie head. I love them!!!!! I wish i was a kid in the 60's I would have been able to see them in concert!! :(

  • Maybe even with Hendrix opening for them, if you were lucky.

  • You didn't hafta be a kid in the 60's to see them live. I took my mom to see them at what used to be Irvine Gardens. The opening acts were Gary Pucket, Hermins hermits and something about grass. I think they said stop children. and mrs jones youve a lovely daughter.

  • @ponfarr69 Grass Roots. :) (Mrs. Jones You've Got a Lovely Daughter). Gary Puckett and the Union Gapp. and Herman's Hermitts. They opened for the Monkees in 1986. :)

  • @STUNNASHADESxo Omg u've seen every episode?! even the movie how?!

  • @retroalex1 I've also seen all the Monkees episodes. I bought the boxed sets (season 1 and 2) from Amazon.com. I'm sure they have the movie Head too. The boxed sets are fantastic. They have commentaries from all four Monkees.

  • @STUNNASHADESxo HEAD is a classic!

  • @STUNNASHADESxo The Monkees toured with Weird Al back in 1985 or 86. It was my very first concert! (unfortunately, I don´t remember much, since I was only 3...)

  • @STUNNASHADESxo : They regrouped (sans Mike) in the 80s and 90s. I got to see them in concert twice. They were, indeed, awesome.

  • @STUNNASHADESxo I just recently read that The Monkees are planning a reunion tour in 2011.

  • @HitlerWasRight2010 OMG SERIOUSLY MUST GO SEE o_

  • @HitlerWasRight2010I believe their tour starts in June. I went to see Davy and Peter Noone last week and Aviva, a member of Davy's band told me this. She will be playing for the Monkees.

  • Mike's like, half-asleep the whole time.

    (1:02 - so close!)

  • OMG HELP ME :) MICKY :)~

  • sounds like little richard

  • LOL !! im sooo agree with you!

  • if i were in 60s era i'd do the same for fun. LoL

  • this proves more than ever that the monkees are the coolest. this is on headquarters another good album
