@MatchboxHeaven Actually, much like his older contemporary, Beethoven, whom he idolized, Schubert is a transition composer who bridges between the Classical and Romantic eras, belonging to the end of the First Viennese School. Like many Romantic composers, he hearkened back to their idea of the medieval sound in several pieces. One of his Moments Musicaux especially does this, evoking a medieval troubadour...
@ symphony125: I had to learn viola ( I only played violin) because we were a viola short. Try playing this piece while trying not to confuse alto clef for treble. The viola notes are just one note above what the actual note for the violin is. I eventually just learned to play it by ear. haha! @ Violinfreek93: lame popular culture has no place here. And Pokemon sucked Pokeballs too.

Yea I also play the viola and the cello, once you practice it gets easy, also because i play the cello in the New Hampshire symphony orchestra, so keep practicing and it will get much easier.

lol you think that's bad?!?! try playing the first violin part to this part knowing only basic treble. I'm a violist at heart; my first and best instrument. But the top quartet at our school wanted to do this quartet, our concert master sucked stylistically, and our viola was one of the strongest in our entire school district. So he moved to first violin for this piece.
This is annoying... Why did they divide this in so many little parts?

powerful scherzo from the best of Schubert's quartets, only no. 13 Rosamunda quartet can compare, the ABQ as always extraordinary

Why are they called the "Alan Berg Quartet" when neither of them are called "Alan Berg"?
