I have had this experience on a few Macs (2 MacBooks and a Mac Pro all running Lion). 2 MacBooks did the black screen of death during a presentation when I plugged my USB key in, luckily I booted to W7 and it worked. I promptly returned my MacBook to an Apple store afterwards, the Geniuses tried to blame the key, until I showed it working on W7 on the same laptop.. i.e.: OSX problem

That may change over time. Generally I think Mac's packaging is its best marketing asset

If ms hadnt invested in ms, maybe apple might have eventually gone bankrupt but one things for sure apple would not have let go of their lawsuits and patent disputes against ms and the loss of a major os player would have got the DOJs eyes even more focused on ms. This is when Bill Gates was writing software for the Mac. Before they got upset with each other. I am a PC user, a MCP & MCSE so I understand very well how the PC has evolved to be as it is now. The Mac (Linux based now) has turned into an over engineered, hyped up, piece of hardware. A Mac with the same specs as a PC will cost 2X and be 500% more difficult to repair. When you buy an Apple you get a finish that you can't get from any other company. It might be more expensive, the product may even have its flaws. But it doesn't matter, it's an Apple and that's all that matters.

@Joshalidina When I use an Apple (ie: Mac), what I get is a great looking OS that has all the problems Windows had in the late 90's: DLL hell (wonder why an update for the Mac is 2.1 GB?), black screens of death (insert a USB key formatted with extFAT, or use VirtualBox and run Solaris 9 for a while), a development environment that reminds me of Visual Studio 4.0, and the beachball of death.. All the frustration of Windows 9x with a great looking UI, and a really high price tag...

@Joshalidina A Mac is nothing more than a "over priced PC" with a different OS, and a BIOS that allows OSX to run. I have had this experience on a few Macs (2 MacBooks and a Mac Pro all running Lion). 2 MacBooks did the black screen of death during a presentation when I plugged my USB key in, luckily I booted to W7 and it worked. I promptly returned my MacBook to an Apple store afterwards, the Geniuses tried to blame the key, until I showed it working on W7 on the same laptop.. i.e.: OSX problem

@jf03cg You're not really the bright type? That's just bullshit, Windows and Mac OS have problems like everything else. Mac OS X is just another OS you can argue for years which is the best but still you won't come to a result.
I'm currently using W7 and OS X Lion and have to say they're both great operating systems but nothing is without some flaws and both Windows and OS X have them.
The conclusion is that neither Windows or Mac OS X would be what it is today without each other.

Macs run the exact same hardware as PCs nowadays and aside from a small number of programs (like Final Cut) they run the same software as well, and some that Macs don't. So is Final Cut really so much better that it makes Macs "better for everything media-related"? Or is it more a question of you being used to Final Cut and missing it?

@hihiou0zabimaru It could be partly that I am used to it, but I agree with DrQuijano that FinalCut is a better program than Adobe and other windows-based editing software. Yes, it's mostly software, not anything innate about the machine itself, but currently I think the wealth of media software (FinalCut, Motion, Color, etc.) available for Mac outweighs similar software available for PC, in my opinion. That may change over time. Generally I think Mac's packaging is its best marketing asset
