  • the REAL genius is Deodato...know that first...

  • Okay, let's get this right, before Lupe came along this track had been sampled in tracks for The K-Otic Family, Lord Finesse, Pudgee, World Renown and many others, just saying. Credit to Deodato for such a fine piece of music, but credit for sampling this is not Soundtrakk's.

  • @ColtonMP Good looks on those!

  • @ColtonMP It's not their fault all they know is skinny jeans and auto tune...

  • @ColtonMP why doesnt Soundtrakk get credit? I thought he did justice to the sample

  • Just great! Very pleasant keyboard sound.

  • @JKCityscape ..its a fender rhodes early 70s model..pleasant isan undertatement!

  • Let's go to see paris and wake up in tokyo!

  • que más decir, esto es el extasis...

  • Years ago I sublet my apartment to someone while I was on the road. He didn't pay the rent and he didn't tell me; he just skipped. I got evicted and lost evrything. Hearing this song reminds me of yet another gem I lost. I miss my music collection. I miss music like this. Thanks for posting it.

  • deodato is THE genius...know that first...

  • jungle brothers - brain

  • Thank God some of these jazz musicians give permission to hip hop artists to sample their songs cause we aboslutely would NOT have some of the GREATEST hip hop songs that exist!

  • lo.crean.o.no.mexico.es.un.pais.maravilloso.aqui.vivo.aqui.no.me.he.muerto.viva.mexico

  • Dont.forget.about.mexico.believeornot.itsaawonderfulparadise

  • oh how i love this....

  • lol the flowers look like vaginas

  • El Chetosssss da bandidosssssssss ! SAMPLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • Deodato CO-produced Lu's Paris, Tokyo. It's a cited fact.

  • @TheRosierose08 They HAD to give Deodato credit like that because Soundtrakk blatantly copied so much of the song. That's the EXACT same reason why Kanye had to put Daft Punk's name on "Stronger".

  • dont matter to me, it sounds good either way!! :D

  • soundtrakk produced lupes song not deodato....

  • obrigado deodato! love your music.

  • One dyslexic thumb.

  • People need to realize the difference between sampling and stealing. I like to think of sampling being the more creative of the two hahaha

but then again. Its bringing new to the old. and in the sense of dilla and lupe....

    dope job.

  • Not only a beautiful song, but one that is performed my true musicans who could not only play in the studio, but also live! Sad that artists like this never got the respect or just due when they where at the top of their game!! Hope everyone who hears this song can truly enjloy it for the pleasure that it gives!!

  • Soundtrakk was the producer, Deodato received publishing credit for allowing the sample to be used.

  • smooth as hell. i can got to Paris then wake up in Tokyo off this.

  • Its called sampling people. No one "stole" anything.

  • @MLDoomsday especially since people get paid when their shit is sampled

  • The smoothness of the rhodes kills me

  • Italian Flavored music!

  • realness

    recognise

    timeless

    classic

  • Bien...

  • One of the best songs i've ever heard they don't make music like this anymore.

  • the first one to use this sample was Pudgee for the song"On the Regular"

  • @TayOne32 Tell um... DITC.

  • @TayOne32 Dilla used this to.....J Dilla- Believe it

  • I sampled this song and lost the file, damn me

  • All of you are wrong. SOUNDTRAKK produced Paris,Tokyo for Lupe Fiasco.

*Lupe Fiasco voice* Soundtrackk what's poppin' baby!

  • @BusterEason30 Wikipedia bro...Eumir Deodato is listed as songwriter for "paris, tokyo" he did it with soundtrakk

  • heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy paris london toyko new orleans chicago

  • Love, love, love, love, this song. The word, "chill", is a real overly used word in my young generation. But half those cats don't even know what chill is! This, this is Chill. Peace & Love from the west coast.

  • WAKE UP IN TOKYO

  • nothing compares to the original...over 30 years old. period.

  • Ahhh, I think Im gonna go grab some lemonade and sit back and relax to this jam. ;)

  • Sweet! Mellow!

  • The Neptunes produced Lupe's version and sampled this!

  • @butterishandy I thought Soundtrakk was the producer of Paris, Tokyo

  • This is like totally sweet! I love the lazy, hazy groove.

  • dont hate on Lupe mezurashi. Jealousy of him having more success in life shouldnt show so much... lol. San Juan Sunset is a good song, Lupe just made his own version to it, and i say he did a hell of a job. Paris Tokyo is the best love song i've heard.

  • What a pleasant sound! Must be Fender Rhodes. Background is also great!

  • Let's go to sleep in Paris, And wake up in Tokyo....

  • LORD FINESSE - fuck LUPE FIASCO... 15 years too late

  • Lupe Fiasco, didn't steal this I heard Eumir Deodato actually help produced it for Paris, Tokyo I think. :P

  • Beautiful.

  • LUPE FIASCO

  • Did George Benson sample this for Poquito Funk or vice versa?

  • Hip Hop is samples. Reinventing something already great only leads you to more success, by having a new beat that's both nostalgic & dope.

    Mad props Lupe & Deodato

  • @TurntablistMith4Dj couldn't have said it better

  • @thatunit995

    thanks

  • Rapper Pudgee has this sample Before Lupe!!!The Song is call "On the Regular"

  • YEAH!!!!!

    I REMEMBER THAT JAM FROM

    THE 90s!!!!!

  • lol they always list the artist u sample from as a producer. ineed they are. sountrakk produced this joint tho.

  • thats what the call a "Sample"....

  • lupe didnt steal this song, deodato was the producer of paris, tokyo!

  • @charger247 Wow, really!? Damn. I've never heard of someone using their own song as a sample for something.. Must be some sort of a genius!

  • I.. Dont think you understood what we were talking about. Deodato produced this original sample, and then produced Paris, Tokyo afterwards, using his own sample from an old song he made before! That's pretty remarkable if you ask me.

  • yeah i get it, do you understand what im talking about with 50 cent - how he sampled a line he used in a song and made it a chorus for another one of his songs..........

  • Ahh.. I meant sampling in the traditional way, but I guess you got a point.

  • @charger247 no, it was produced by Soundtrakk, sampled from Eumir Deodato

  • @charger247 Edit: Writer, not producer

  • @elstermann1336 on the album he is credited as the producer...i have it.

  • @charger247 No dude, Soundtrakk produced the song. Deodato is listed as a songwriter because of the sample used.

  • @charger247 wrong, soundtrakk produced the song, deodato was sampled

  • @charger247 I wish more hop hop fans dug in the crates to find out where these samples come from. This is the kind of music that makes good hip hop beats great!

  • @charger247 , what about Soundtrakk?He produced this beat

  • @charger247 Simple sampled this song.

  • @charger247 Soundtrakk is the producer of Paris, Tokyo...Deodato helped write the lyrics

  • Let's go to sleep in Paris, And wake up in Tokyo. Have a dream in New Orleans, Fall in love in Chicago, Mayne. Then we can land in the motherland, Camelback across the desert sand. Take a train, to Rome, or home, Brazil, forreal. Wherever I go she goes. Wherever I go she goes.
  • @MrJamful lupe fiasco

  • lupe fiasco!....paris tokyo

  • esta cancion tiene "sabooor"!!!!

  • Lol. So unknowledgeable.

  • why hate on Lupe, if anything you should give him respect for appreciating/sampling such a great song

  • if i could make something like this i would die happy *.*

  • why listen to a sample when the original outshines all of them ?

  • because I'm not just listening to the sample; I'm listening to the whole of the song including vocals and other incorporated sounds. When I want to listen to San Juan Sunset I'll listen to it, but I also love Paris, Tokyo because of Lupe Fiasco's lyrics and Soundtrakk's drumbeat. There's no reason to dislike Paris, Tokyo because it isn't Deodato's full song; rather you should appreciate it because it's a reworking of something that is already great.

  • then it's fair to say that opinions vary. period.

  • PERFECTLY PUT!!!

  • He is one of my alltime favourites! All his recordings are sooooooo fine.. smooth , groovy.Oih!

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • soo smooth!

  • One of the greatest of all time.

  • rly nice, make sure to check Lupe Fiasco - Paris/Tokyo just as nice.

  • Relaxation.................... starts now

  • excelente pieza la amo !

  • Lets go to sleep in Paris, wake up in Tokyo.

  • have a dream in new orleans fall in love in sheeekago mayne

  • Have a dream in New Orleans, fall in love in Chicago, man

  • *cough* lupe *cough*

  • lol . love this cut though

  • ok enough of who sampled what because one of the first to sample it was Lord Finese for "Game Plan", and even George Benson who played on this album with Deodato re-vamped this song for his single "Poquito Spanish, Poquito Funk" on his "Standing Together" album. Learn your history and appreciate hip hop artist for actually realizing great music when they hear it! If you just do like I do and dig in the crates or just roam you tube you can find some nice hidden gems and forgotten tunes!

  • true dat

  • oooooooookkk lord finese .. game plan?,,, damn, one point for that,, sounds great,, and deodato knows how we doit!!!!!!!!!!!!,,,esto es musica de verdad,,,

  • every Producer samples... everyone get use to it!! its beaufiul music made for you to just cherish =)

  • kinda disapointed... I thought Paris Tokyo was an original. This track is like IMO, way better ! Smooth cut. Love the vibe !! (Lupe Fiasco's still an excellent MC)

  • yah i agree...just thankful that i got to hear both tracks.

  • I did too, either way it's nice to hear both....I just repeated someone else Damn it lol, anyways, nice track, buying the whole CD, I'd feel bad if I downloaded it.

  • AHHHH

  • Yeah, he sampled the melody from here but he's still an amazing lyricist. Besides, Lupe's kind of hip-hop is incredible compared to what people think is hip-hop now-a-days, be grateful we have a mainstream musician out there like him.

  • so smooth...paris tokyo wouldnt be as good as it is if it didnt sample this dopeness!

  • I knew paris tokyo had a sample i found it man this is paradise (sigh)

  • Fall asleep in paris, wake up in tokyo.....

  • i fkn love elevator music!!

    im not evn joking.

    it gets me xcited!! <3

  • lmao tell me about i dont see why people think its so bad of music, its soothing and relaxing

  • right! i mean who doesnt like 2 chill evry now n then...who!? haha

  • Lets not forget. "Definition of a MC" by World Renown. K Def does'nt F around with that sample cause the base is hard!

  • Paris, Tokyo

  • Luv it. Brings back old memories. 70's were great.

  • Pops played this one a lot. I want to get to an island with some pretty women and make some beautiful music. This album is a classic.

  • tight.

  • sexy!!!!!

  • awesome. latin flute is good too

  • Damn Talk about smooth

  • lets go to sleep in paris wake up in tokyo! ahh deodato is the man

  • Great comment!

  • smooth

  • all day baby!! Love this guy

  • This is a precious jewel....makes me remind my beginnings in jazz....thanks alot¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • nice sample Lupe!

  • Lupe didn't sample...track was actually produced by Deodato

  • hes saying nice to lupe for sampling this track by deodato

  • wat 2chann is sayin is that deodato actually co-produced paris tokyo as in it was remade not necessarily sampled.

  • it was NOT co-produced by deodato, it was produced by soundtrakk

  • Soundtrakk is a beast

  • No He didnt!

  • Lord Finesse - Gameplan, as well as Lupe's Paris,Tokyo

  • Pudgee the Phat - On The Regular

This is a popular song to sample.

  • wherever i go she go...

  • How carefree I feel when I hear this song..

  • Lupe Fiasco-"Paris,Tokyo"
