  • Such ignorant bastards.. My guess is that Paddy will wrap the hurdi around some executive shithead's neck.. Thank christ we don't have to pay for this managerial bollocks anymore..

    Fuck the labels..

  • what no tap, whats the world comming to

  • The mood the Kate captures clearly arrives on the songs journeys with new wonder..Kate certainly pioneered Fairlight and vocodussage and here on Directors cut takes us on a new journey..Most artist remix or rework songs in a long career certainly Kate has approached the whole project with the same passion and seems to not disappoint..Deeper understanding a case in point exploring technologies as ever in that special Kate way..

  • סרטון מעניין

  • @karpenko3 haha nu be'emet

  • I listened to the full track on NPR's website -- what a triumph! Will there be a new video?

  • @dpbrannan I agree...it is perfection, I love her new vocals...

  • Wow, I love the new vocals, this literally sends shivers down my spine. If fans don't like the new version they can still listen to the old one, personally I love the new interpretations. Stunning work, as ever.

  • So this is The Sensual World....did she change the song title or is the person mistakenly calling it Flower of the Mountain LoL

  • @deathmetalhippy She's changed the name of the song.

  • @deathmetalhippy she's finally gettin to sing what she wanted...this is molly bloom's speech from james joyce's Ulysses.... she got refused permission to use it before, but now she's got it....

  • I love kate, it doesnt mean I have to like everything she ever does though and I can like the originals better if i want to. so stfu

  • I'm more fond of the original cause it has a more 'sensual' feeling to it. But this one also has it's charm :) Excited to hear all of the new lyrics :)

  • Not meaning to be rude or anything, but I thought the name of the song was "The Sensual World".

    Just saying.

  • @CynthiaJFinnegan Originally, Kate used words from Molly Bloom's speech from James Joyces Ulysses, however, she was refused permission back then. When working on this album, she asked for permission again and was granted. So it is The Sensual World song, but reworked with Joyces words and becomes Flower of the Mountain

  • i'm a little concerned, kate's vocals on this sounds like they're not in sync with the backing track, sounds almost karaoke-ish. was really looking forward to this new version which was meant to be the original idea for the songs. Her own lyrics for the Sensual Word are much better performed and finally more in keeping with the idea of sensuality.

  • Very impatient to hear more of this song !

  • I like this one and the original. They are both great!

Kate is still the most inspiring person i have ever saw and heard!

    I <3 KATE

  • I'm so excited for this CD!!! From what I have heard so far, this sounds like she's really chosen some songs that have a distinct point of view and now she's taken them to a different place. Kate doesn't tour, so she doesn't have the outlet to make explore the evolution of her songs that way. I am 100% on board for this GO KATE

  • personally i don't mind a remix album but let's call a duck a duck. this isn't new . it's remixed .

  • @nepsky its not remixed ir re-recorded

  • watch?v=xwbeddZ9aKI

  • what I hear here sounds fantastic. This must be a wonderful album to listen to.

    Kate Bush gives us magic.

  • Joni Mitchell seemed so sane, now believes she's got alien worms, Prince and the chemtrails, Kate is ace.

  • @bastardfingers huh?

  • Sounds like a drunk Kate doing Karaoke... Yikes!

  • @RideHanna well said

  • I love everything Iv heard from Director's Cut so far :) Iv never disliked anything Kate has done, Im sure I never will.

  • The "old" Sensual World was soooo sexy. This one on the other hand...uhm...I cannot even find a word to describe it yet (and that fact alone does not make me happy lol)

  • @ppzav It's definitely not a very sensual vocal. I like most of the new Deeper Understanding except for the jazz-y ending, but on this her voice is wavery, and definitely not lush and delicious like on the original.

  • @ppzav I agree. There's something more WISE than sexy about this.

But I guess we fans got to adjust along with her, as we get older too. I'm willing. : )

  • @SelectCircle lol..well said....I've been going along with her for hell knows how many years! I can't wait for this cd to come out already

  • It has a different mood... I think I prefer the original, but it's hard to judge just with a few seconds.

  • it took me a while to, i guess, "understand" kate and her music to begin with. as it stands right now, i'm not that keen on the re-workings i've heard so far but i'm sure that given time i'll "get" them and fall in love with her art all over again.

  • No Kate is not God that's Tori Amos...

But of course Kate is a VERY talented artist and the whole excitement of new material, eespecially when it's so rare can really get to people.

  • Not digging it I'm afraid, but I'll wait until I hear all the song before settling on an final opinion. Loved the original and the 'Sensual' video that went with it, after all that one is still out there and always will be.

  • I'm so in love with Kate that I would buy her new cd also if is empty, without music...just for the cover :)

  • Can't wait for this .... ;)

  • I always loved this song, it makes me happy.

This remix put in value the wonderful music and instruments. A remix that tending to the essentials.

  • This has to be listened to through headphones... it's beautiful

  • I think this sounds very promising. Remember the quality will be superior on cd or download. And as for the gripes, well as someone pointed out earlier, the original pieces are still there. It's Kate's own work, so I suppose she can do whatever the hell she wants with it!

  • i was under the impression that this version of the song would be very different..., i hope so because this is like the original song but not as good. i love the new version of lily as it sounds different, this sounds the same but worse... im not being negative i just expected it to be different as she got the permission this time around to use the james joyce lyrics and said that this verison is the 'true' version.. but the lyrics here are the same

  • @snowball1988 She's kept the same chorus, but the rest are lyrics from the soliloquy

  • Jeez. why are people even complaining? If you are a true fan, you would show some respect? If you prefer the original song above this, it's still here to listen to. And still, people age, voices change, it's so silly to like her less now these new DC songs are going to be released. if any of you were some kind of artist back in the 80's and would release stuff 20 years later im goddamn sure it wouldn't sound as smooth as before. None the less, I like it and I'm glad she's back to do all of this

  • @fiddleydiddley: Yes, it sounds WONDERFUL. :)

P.S.: thankyou for your heartfelt remixes of several Kate songs. :)

  • the pope of music has re-written the bible ... i can only say : 'mmh yes ...'

  • This.... is dreamy. Thank you, Kate. I can't wait.

  • I don't understand some of the negativity that is about. You still have the original songs - Kate is not going to come and take the originals off you when DC is released ! These are just re workings - you now have two versions of the songs to listen to IF you choose to. I dont understand why that is such a complicated concept.

  • @FootYetti You've answered your own question. There are now 2 versions of the same song, and so people are comparing - and coming to the conclusion this version isn't as good (although it IS just a snippet).

These are just opions - you now have two oposing reactions to the songs to read IF you choose to. I don't understand why that is such a complicated concept.

  • @HappyLimited i agree, i dont like when people act like people are banned from syaing anything except "i love this" on every video on here... why???, its an open discussion, everyone is as entitled to their opinion wether they like something or not......

  • @FootYetti

I dont understand why this is such a complicated concept either.

Just glimpses of the new release when other artists put the whole thing out.

I think this gives Kate bad press

  • @FootYetti

LOL I know, so many toys ,thrown out of so many prams ...

    ;)

  • @FootYetti Picture it: A cart, pulled by Kate, who's yelling, "Bring out your dead!" while we're all forced to throw our old CDs and records on top of the pile!!

I don't care for what little of the vocal I hear here, but will wait till the whole is out. I think people worry because they think Kate is "losing it" or something--that her judgement is off, or the "inferior" work bodes ill for the future? I've almost never loved every song one any of her albums, but this hasn't killed me so far.

  • Wasn't this already on Aerials?

  • @BrettGleasonMusic

No. This song was originally the title track on the 1989 album "The Sensual World". It's not from "Aerial".

  • I like the original better. That isn't to say this one isn't good in its own right - I just think of this as how Kate would sound live if she toured right now.

  • and guess what, haters : she doesn't sing to please your spoiled, ungrateful ears. she sings for the art, the mission and the dance. she sings for the angels. deal with it. only God can judge her. and guess what : it is Godsent. it is about the universal good, the higher purpose, you fools. be a bit more spiritual than always slamming God's messengers. she will only get better.

  • wow, what a bunch of professional whiners there are on this forum, right ... makes me think this might be her best ... it's a good test to see who actually let her make a secret backyard in her music ... these are all great reflections ... it doesn't matter how high or low you jump, everything she touches turns into gold anyway ... where the wind will blow your petty drama away soon, her work will stand for eternity ... she's (re-)writing history with the divine pencil anyway ...

  • @secondbible There are many Kate Bush fans here. However, there's absolutely no reason to blindly believe eveything she creates is "gold". Art is open for interpretations, and if one feels they can justifiably support their opinion, I don't see anything wrong with have an open discussion about it in a mature manner. Kate's art is experimental, so you can't expect "everything" to be well received. Calling us "haters" for our own personal opinion shows you aren't seeking a mature or open debate.

  • @MaduinTerra no, it is a given fact that many so-called kate bush fans are extremely rude, disrespectful, greedy, snobbish, controlling and manipulative, without manners and tact, wanting her energy and powers, and if they could they would suck the daylight out of her. she is surrounded by vipers, and sometimes someone has to come with a sword to wipe them out. they should come down from their high and mighty thrones.

  • @secondbible 'A Given Fact' . . . from wehere? The 'given facts about things website'.

    Proper comedy response.

  • @JonnyBoyMach2 press ctrl shift F7 and a list shows up of lazy, ignorant, selfrighteous, uninitiated kate bush followers who need to stop sucking their thumbs and waking up to reality --- proper comedy response

  • @secondbible Oh dear, some ones on medication!?!?!?!?

  • @zanyzoo6767 we're all on medication because of people like you ... no, just kidding ... you have been selected to sing 'flower of the mountain' on the next fanclub reunion day ... make sure you remember the lyrics ... we won't throw tomatoes ...

  • @secondbible The reason I wont be buying the album is becuase for me , she did a perfect job in the first place, esp on The Sensual World. Because she was refused permission to use Joyce in the first place Kate was pushed in to a artisit cul de sac. And boy did she come out fighting. I still say that the sensual world, orig version is the sexist song ever written and sung.

  • @zanyzoo6767 ok, thanks for the richer explanation/ feedback. these are all parts of her history, not only as an artist but also as a person, and therefore interesting for fans. everyone has their own preferences and connections to it, of course. for those who are interested in 'the whole story', that will be visible when the album comes out, for this is all just fragments. and i think either way it's better to have at least known her than having not heard of her at all. it 'd be different.

  • @secondbible Calm down please, you're really overreacting! It's a song not the second coming! Vipers, swords, powers and energy, you sound like you're quoting from Lord of the Rings or something. Not everybody has to like this, people are entitled to their opinions! It doesn't mean they're disrespecting the venerable lady if they don't like what she's done in this instance. But I agree everybody should wait to hear the track in it's entirety before deciding to put it down.

  • @Cyrus2182 i sometimes get really tired of all these obsessed fans, really. every time i say something other than "oh my god, she's a genius and i have to bow before her", i'm greeted with mean comments and ridicule. and you know what, those are usually people in their 40s or 50s. same on them!

  • @ninbin34 Yes, they're a bit creepy that way. I'm a fan like you but really some of these people need to keep it real! She's an artist and a talented one at that, but she's not God!

PS I'm in my 40s too, so we're not all that way!

  • @Cyrus2182 i'm in my early twenties and when i read those comments i cannot help but imagine some 50yo guy still hung on that image of kate being 19 and dancing sensually. have you seen that "come back, kate" documentary? it's creepy.

  • @Cyrus2182 Hey buddy, I see you also had an encounter with the Saviour and Redeemer. Good luck fighting off those swords and stuff LOL

  • @secondbible OMG, well said that person.

  • @secondbible if you read less bible and were more in tune with the normal world you would understand that the singer you fancy doesn't need a savior. Your patronizing tone is just as disturbing as the vipers you are referring to. Snap out of the delusion of having some kind of preferential lane and protecting role towards her. Oh, and get off the throne yourself.

  • @secondbible nice insult all her fans. Great way to glorify her, by putting down the people that love her the most. LoL

  • @secondbible Daft comment.

  • @secondbible - "given fact that many so-called kate bush fans are extremely rude, disrespectful, greedy, snobbish, controlling and manipulative, without manners and tact, wanting her energy and powers?" WTF? Correct me if I'm wrong but looks like you're a fan also. You might fit into your own category using those words. I think most just want to listen to good ole' Kate! I'm a fan but trust me...I don't want to suck the daylight out of her. Ew. Nor am I a viper! Do you hear voices?

  • @secondbible Finally somebody else who sees how pathetic and snobbish Kate's fans are! It's really embarrassing such a great artist has such a horrible fanbase.

  • Just like the Deeper Understanding interpretation, this has lost all warmth that the original had. The busy production of The Sensual World Album is the reason why it felt so warm...and sensual. This feels cold and distant. That's just my personal opinion. I have a feeling I'm going to dislike every The Sensual World track on this album, but hopefully some people will appreciate this. The Dreaming, Hounds of Love, The Sensual World and A Sky of Honey (not Sea of Honey) were masterpieces.

  • kate bush fan since 78, I have just cancelled my order

  • @zanyzoo6767 thanks for letting us know, fake fan ... never will a real fan treat her love-letters like this ...

  • @zanyzoo6767 I've heard, she called me and told me how devastated she was LOL

  • @ppzav I loved your comment, made me laugh so much

  • @zanyzoo6767 LOL...I read your comments I know what you mean (I think)...I miss lush sounds of her earlier work. Aerial was kinda raw (from the lack of better word) in my opinion and it looks like that's the same direction she's heading when it comes to Director's Cut....we'll see. I kind of like Deeper understanding 2011 but I have to admit that the old version was one of the most beautiful songs she's ever written.

  • I hope she doesn't think we love her less for this.

  • Kate Bush > Tori Amos. All the way.

  • @ToriAmosSucks

While I agree that Kate is better than Tori, there's no need to create an account called "ToriAmosSucks". That's just tasteless.

  • Having heard clips of all the songs it reminds me of a jam session a sort of KB unplugged it's good and it's different and you've always got the original recordings.

  • i'm loving the lily clip, loving some of deeper understanding, don't really care for this one.. they're only reworkings though, so i don't mind much! it's fine that her voice has aged, but i just hate when she starts slurring like crazy! someone said something about the slurring in DU being vulnerable and uninhibited.. i like that idea! still not enjoying it though :p

  • I can't wait!

  • Yes, Kate Bush's voice has aged. So has yours. Get over it !

  • 5 people didn't step out of the page into the sensual world.

  • Just fucking amazing, i like this one and i like the old one.Why complain, now we have two to choose from

  • @dongyuemiao, now that's the spirit !

  • Is it me or the sound / mixing of the tracks we've heard so far from Director's Cut do not seem as clear as in the previous albums? Deeper Understanding DC is blurry and sounds like a demo. Her voice is not as distinct as usual. And this clip seems to confirm the lows quality of the production with too much bass and strange noises at the beginning of each sentence. That's confusing because Aerial was very well produced with a perfectly clear sound. I just can't get used to it.

  • @Inyourlap, I agree. I don't like downloads, so I've only heard these song snippets through my computer speakers. But I'm sure it will sound much better when we put our hands on the actual album.

  • I'm a massive KB fan, but have to say that I've been a bit disappointed with these re-workings. I'd much prefer for her to be spending time on new material. Just saying.

  • We all want to like this so, so much but it's just not cutting it. I know the whole point is that she's changed things on the tracks she wanted to but nothing has changed in this apart from her husky voice, the new words and the offish vocals. Makes me so sad but even Kate fans, as madly loving as we are, must be objective sometimes.

  • I am not looking too forward to the songs I already was in love with, such as this, because I doubt they could grab me more than the originals did. However, I am super pumped up for new versions of songs I didn't like, and Director's Cut will have plenty of those.

  • :( this woman's work and flower of the mountain, unfortunately , suck...

  • Much softer than the original, fantastic Kate ;-)

  • It sounds more raw. Less polished. I'll be purchasing the Director's Cut but I doubt I'd listen to it often. ;p

  • I don't hear any difference from this preview, just that her voice got weaker. :S

  • As rare as a Flower of the Mountain - Edelweiss. Pure. Creation. Beauty.

  • Musical arrangements sound and feel sensual indeed. Her craft is only getting better. And the bar was set pretty high already.

  • . . . Fantastic mmmmmh yes . . .

  • like this version and the old one!

  • Kate Bush has dared to retouch a wonderfully perfect song and has turned it into something even better. Great. Great. Well done, fearless and brave Kate!!! :)

  • @misssarahlee1

She does indeed. Apparently, they have less echo on them. :)

    x

  • The reason Kate is re- releasing the song is the estate of the Irish writer James Joyce's have given permission 20 years later for her to use the words of Molly Bloom, a passage of Ulysses , she had initally used them but was told to cut them out.

  • what a tease! eagerly anticipating this release!

ps. critics: you simply can't make judgements based on a snippet

  • @camdenuploads People can choose to make judgements if they want. I first heard the snippet of DU and loathed it. I heard the full song and loathed it. A first for me, a dedicated Kate fan. As for Flower of the Mountain I love it...

Flower OF THE MOUNTAIN & King OF THE MOUNTAIN... nice pattern there!

  • @JohanR888 people can jump off a tall building if they want, i really don't care. It is generalising of the highest order to make a decision based on part of the information. Thats my message.

And yes, that is a rather lovely pattern indeed!

  • @camdenuploads But its their free will to choose. I see the point of view of reading one passage from a book and judging it, doesnt give the full story. However a song, gives a vibe and is a blatant taster whether people will like it or not. Ive heard all 11 snippets from the songs, and im really impressed with some and not the other. This Womans Work and Moments of Pleasure i simply adore the originals, but dont like the new arrangements. Doesnt matter. i still have the originals as a pref.

  • @JohanR888 it sure is. and as long as we have kate and her gift, we'll have one of the greatest originals of all time.

ps. i like the new deeper understanding. i like the original too. maybe in my infatuated eyes she can do no wrong :)

  • @camdenuploads She is my fav singer of all time.

ahh well your admission explains it all Mr infatuation! Enjoy the DC when it comes out. :-)

  • Gaaaa. This sounds like a bad cover! one of her best songs ever . . . It really didn't need touching up. Especially as she's clearly losing her voice (or has developed asthma).

  • YESSS

  • I don't know. This song was just perfect as it was.

  • @jonescrusher77 she chose the songs to re-record because she felt they didn't reach their potentional back in the late 80s and 90s. This isn't rehashing, it's Kate improving on some already great songs, and re-introducing herself to the world in preperation of the next album.

  • i think the orginal track is more charismatic. anyway i'm waiting for full version. : )

  • A new Album from Kate bush??? what pure joy and happiness

  • Whilst I love KB and her work...why not do a new album for starters...rehashing KB staples is not a great idea..as we get older our voices change and this should be put to good use with new tracks, which suit her voice "Now".I found the timing of the vocals to be out,on this track and they do sound a little flat, emotionally and do not have that perky spark they once had....I am looking forward to a "New" album

  • @jonescrusher77 as much as i love her, i'm with you on this. when i first heard about DC, i was like "oh, no...", but then i thought "ok, i wanna hear flower of the mountain and this woman's work". she clearly has lost her voice or has some sort of an illness. i understand that the "new" woman's work is actually worse than all of the new-old songs. eh, at list lily has more meat :)

  • Excellent, as usual!!

  • I just noticed this has a different rhythm somehow in the "drums" - love it. Feels a bit latino american all of a sudden lol

  • As much as I'm obsessed with Kate, the clips I've heard of this song have failed to impressed. The original is on my top ten of favorite Kate songs because it's so lush and (for a lack of a better word) sensual. This version seems dry and she seems to be bored singing this. But I still love Kate and I'm looking forward to Director's cut.

  • @loooooooo65432 i kinda feel the same. although the new beat and such are really cool, her voice is just not the same as it was back in the day :( ohhh well, i suppose we have to wait and hope for the best! we still might get impressed (:

  • Off to drown my sorrows.

  • @TheQuietEye Sorrows drowned. Oh, my head. I've read the comments, and on balance it's not looking good, is it. Not that I needed validating - I but I had a sneaking hope that I was completely out of step.

  • Squeeee!

  • Her vocals sound amazing, she takes the songs to new dimensions!

I heard the iTunes snippets and wait until you hear This Womans Work + Moments Of Pleasure, her vocals are so mature, mournful. This is music! Love it!

  • Okay, we're a few clips in now - she isn't holding the notes, perhaps on purpose (I hope), but I don't like how half-hearted it sounds. Sorry, I know it won't be popular to say this but I feel quite disappointed by these so far.

  • mmm yes!

  • I meant every Monday, of course...

  • Yes! Thank you! This is such a wonderful treat! I hope a new clip will be revealed every Friday, until the album is out...

And this sounds really good! Was kinda worried after hearing the leaked iTunes Canada clip. I'm much less worried now.

  • She is ultimate musical perfection. She can make me feel such deep emotions with her incredible voice. No one will ever top her beauty and emotive powers in her music. I love her. <3

  • Isn't this song Sensual World?

  • @GavsterH

Yes, the name is just changed for the "Director's Cut" album. Originally when Kate wrote the song "The Sensual World" she had used text from the end of "Ulysses" by James Joyce, put to a piece of music that she had written. When she asked for permission to use the text she was refused. When she came to work on this project she thought she would ask for permission again and this time they said yes. Therefore, it is now re-titled "Flower Of the Mountain".

  • @VlogKing

;¬) Thanks for the info.. Looking forward to the album.

  • @GavsterH

You're welcome. I'm looking forward to the new album as well. I'll be interested to hear the other changes Kate has built onto the original songs. The album is released three days after my 16th birthday, so it can be a late birthday present from my parents maybe.

  • I think I'm most looking forward to the full version of this song with the Joyce lyrics

  • More, more, more - ah, well, not long now.

  • great

  • I am going to burst with excitement before May 16...

  • Yessssssssssssssssssssssss!

  • love it love it love it love it love it........

  • love it

  • sounds like it's gonna be another great album!
