  • why is it methylethyl instead of ethylmethyl if it should be in alphabetical order?

  • Could the molecule at 8:50 be called:

    5-sec-butyl-5-isopropyl-2-methylnonane?

  • awesome! you explained in 10 mins something that my teacher couldnt in 5 classes!

  • thanks alot

  • and at 8:30 how do you use the bis nomenclature?????

  • I think you made another mistake at 3:01 because on the top you've got a methylpropyl but on the bottom you actually have a methylbutyl, I ain't no orgo student but am following along for fun, lol, so would it be called....*just a stab here*

    5,5-bis(1-methylbutyl),(1-methylpropyl)nonane ????

  • sec butyl NOT isobutyl

  • 1 more question, sorry... but is 2-methyl 5-(1-methylethyl)-5-(1-methylpropyl) nonane synonymous with 2-methyl 5-isopropyl 5-isobutyl nonane?

  • @SSJkiller yes, methylethyl is the same as isopropyl

  • at around 3:40... is n't one of those branches a 1-methyl butyl group while the other is a 1-methyl propyl group?
