  • Onko 'vuoi' kuten Suomen 'voi'? Saattaisi sopia tuohon. Kuten "voi minua", ja "voi voi minua". Kyllä se taitaa se olla.

(Is the 'vuoi' like the Finnish word 'voi'? I think it is.)

I think that Shamanism will always survive, just not on a grand scale.

  • Så suggestivt medryckande magiskt. År det Shamanskt?

  • @HIHIMIII56 popshamanistisk :]

  • may the music of the indigenous and ancient people survive... may shamanism survives...... :-) so beautiful.

  • Vuoi means 'you want' in Italian. I don't know if this was said in any of the previous 464 comments, and I wasn't about to look.

  • Wonderful music!

What I experience is a combination of sadness and pride (but maybe that is just me)

  • oh so beautiful song, I love this original chant and melody bassed in the native chants, I really like it, I like samples too, but this is even better, cause come from the botton of author heart, if you like this song the same I do, I recomend you, Canto Piaroa, another song not inspired on samples, composed from the real roots of Piaroa people from the venezuelan Amazon forest, just discovered this group now, if the rest of the songs are like this, gonna buy the CD to conect my spirit to sky.

  • on the American version of "Father's Day" I pay honor to the land and the native peoples my great grandfather migrated from. Cherish your culture! Protect and celebrate it eternally.

  • @buhane11: What? Most peoples in Europe are native to the land they live in. You mean one of the last shamanic/nomadic peoples?

  • @mieroth Thats not true. All Europeans came from Africa first and after that there were many migrations throughout human history: Stone age men went North and follwed the melting glaciers, Romans and Greeks went east and west, arabs went north and west, goths went west, vikings went south and east (as far as nowadays Ukraine), celts went west, slavic people went west, germanic people went south and north, anglosaxons went west and so and so on and so on, during thousands of years...

  • @ramriketi Out of Africa theory is becoming increasingly discarded by researchers.

  • @mieroth And all these tribes kept mixing and mingling and migrating...Nationalism and its borders is a modern idea from the 19th century, where people started to say that 1 nation=1country=1language..a idea that will soon again be overcome by more human migration...

  • @buhane11

  • 10*** very nice BRAWOOOOO

  • absolutely stunning:)

  • @2700giovanni Well if you think about it gypsies are pure indo aryans as well.

  • @2700giovanni

    No they are NOT.

First came the Finno Ugrian tribes from the Siberian inlands(to which the Sami, the Magyarians and the pre-Dorian Greeks belonged)

Then came the Celts from the Caspian Region. (Irish, Scots, Welsh, Bretons and Basks)

Then came the Aryans from South Central Asia (to which the Germans and the Saxons belong).

After the fall of the Roman Empire Europe became a confused melting pot and a tribal battlefield for centuries, stabilizing only in the XIIth century AD.

  • @helmuthoorn Euskara are not celts. the basque language is a neolithic language, and it is older than the celtic languages.

  • @TubaGlider2

    Sorry.

    You are right.

Their langauge has no relation with Sanscrite at all, which supports the theory that the Euskara were also part of the first European inhabitant tribes..

  • @helmuthoorn Just to nitpick again, although the Magyar are in the Finno-Ugric group (or at least the wider Uralic group) they arrived in Europe as a second wave, some time after the various Indo-European settlers had firmly established their linguistic and ethnic hegemony over the continent.

  • just beatifull...

  • Vakkert! Skulle ønske det fantes en bra video til den...

  • This is Beautiful! Deeply moving.

  • This is the first I've heard of her and the music. COOL!

  • AWESOME MUSIC!

  • boring

  • What does it mean "Vuoi vuoi mu" ?

  • @DeatnuNieida2010

    Thanks for your reply :-)

Now I am see that my understanding, relationship and feeling the Nature is very similar to he one, presented by Mari Boine in this song.

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • I like joik, it's a veri strange music style @u@ I like strange music

  • im listening to the original for the first time..really good. the henrik schwarz remix is good too.

  • god bless

  • I've read that sami people have connections to the berber people in Africa.. for some reason.

I'm part sami on both sides but I wasn't raised in the culture, I'm still more ethnically sami than 95% of samis, they look pretty much like scandinavians nowadays.

  • @WB2RM

How does a sami look like?

  • @meusisto to my knowledge they look Nordic but many of them tend to look like East Asians with natural blond hair and blue eyes. But it's really the slight epicanthic fold that gives them that East Asian look.

  • @gariadara to me they look like native americans in a white skin, but the true fullblood sami´s looked almost the same as the inuits. theyre blond and white because they mixed with the white people.

  • @arjantjeee not quite right. I am fullblood and no one of my family looks like inuits. We look like some us indigenous tribes, however

  • @DeatnuNieida2010 ok, then the information i heard wasnt right :) sry for that.

tho you can see some features in the face which are from the native americans. :) i think thats pretty cool. i like the old shamanistical ways.

  • Bluffant ! .. c'est super joli ..

  • search for Shamaani Duo is even beautyfuller than this, because here are some electric instruments, which i think are out of this tune..

  • Beautiful sounds of earth makes my heart beat stronger thank you for sharing

  • echt gute Musik

  • here is the english translation: Vuoi vuoi little yellowbird Vuoi my summernight bird cuckoo and eagle Vuoi my swallow with nest under riverbanks Vuoi nightowl with limitless vision Vuoi vuoi me Vuoi vuoi joy with hearty laughter Vuoi sorrow with oceans of salty tears Vuoi vuoi frost winter and cold Vuoi summer with burning hot days Vuoi vuoi me
  • @hit004541 i do not know, but there is some feelings about Jethro Tull. But this tiny LADY, have you heard DVD Leahkastin, Where

are your reindeers, me, i am from Joensuu, Finland.

  • Very long ago their ancestors moved from inner Siberia towards the West.

Another part of them moved to the East, crossing the landbridge of the Bering Straits, becoming the North American natives.

What remained and what connects the Sami and the American natives is the same earthbound spirituality in their music, songs and nomadic culture.

These people are more related to the Siberian Yakuts and Buryaks and the American Indians than with the Indo-European Celts and Germans, who came much later.

  • veldig behagelig musikk!

  • unbroken connection with the sources of Earth ...

  • she has got it .. deep out of the source of Earth .........

  • Altough it's part of Norwegian culture, Sapmi songs are not to be understood by most Norwegians. Still, I think mari Boine sings brilliant, ad she's a great ambassadeur for Norway!

  • cóś polskich tu brakui..................

  • genialne

  • 5*!

    Greetings from Hungary!

  • beautiful, thank-you

  • underbar! hon kann sjunger mycket bra eller ska jag säger hon joiker bra?

  • Guys, Wiki about Sami people and stop making fool of yourselves

  • Comment removed

  • The Sami people have inhabited the northern regions of Fenno-Scandinavia and Russia for at least 2500 years (Norway, Sweden and Finland mainly, a region known as Sápmi). Since the Sami are the earliest of the contemporary ethnic groups represented in the area, they are consequently considered an indigenous population of the area.

  • @Orion27000 "Indoeuropeans with some Eurasian" what the hell did you mean by that??. Saami people's ancestry isn't indoeuropean, it's finno-ugrian. Conected with Finnish, Hungarian, Estonian, etc.

    You're welcome.

  • which language is this?

  • The language of the Saami people, living in the northern part of Norway/Sweden/Finland: Lapland....

  • And in Kola penninsula in Russia

  • What a beautiful voice!Thank you from Canada.

  • hei. Voitko kertoa minulle, missä meri on hän nyt?

  • @Orion27000

Aryan. lol silly thing. Aryan is a middle eastern tribe living in afghan and pakistan. ahahahah go educate yourself.

  • What you need to do is find out the ,.. the, saami peoples ancestry, so you should educate yourself. They Are indiginous Indo Europeans with some Eurasian.

  • Hipnótica e interesante.

  • Beyond this world!

  • Beautiful!!

  • maybe "nomadic" people or even "tribal" would fit better than "native".. bah, the song rules anyway, and the sami are a cool bunch, always w an upbeat peppy attitude :D

  • Live concert in Prague - i was there. Mari can make really impressive and crashing atmosphere...

  • Sami are the last Natives in Europe

  • "native" is sortof misleading. i discussed this w my mother, she claimed norwegians were not natives to norway. wow. so... we came from... spain?

its difficult to find a good word tho. everyone is a native to the country theire from.

samis are indeed the last "nature peoples" of europe, but i think "native" is simply the wrong word to use.

samis and old germanics arrived in scandinavia at the same time, roughly 20-30K BC.

  • wikipedia:

"Recent genetic studies have indicated that the two most frequent maternal linages of the Sámi people are the first Homo sapiens inhabitants of Europe and the second, descendants of common ancestors with Basque people"

I think the word "native" is indeed a good word.

  • @hetither there will never be the last Natives of Norway. Our children are our future Thunder clan

  • @hetither .. what is that supposed to mean? Most European people are native to Europe.

  • @kurjast I mean it like this: They havent forgotten "were there come from" , respect to the nature n all this that we have fogot

  • @hetither

I think there are or have been more people like that in Europe. Also depending on what you consider Europe. The Sami are the biggest and most known native group in Europe without a country of their own, but maybe not the only. For example there are just a couple of hundred Livonians left.

  • @kurjast it means that we are indigenous. Like indigenous of Canada or US

  • Comment removed

  • @DeatnuNieida2010

indigenous is just a funny word. In a way that.. I am Estonian.. therefore I am indigenous to Estonia... but I wont be called "indigenous" till someone invades my country. :P again.

  • this language is SAMI

  • what language is this, exactly?

  • Love the cover!

  • Nice, sweet.

    Thanks ,

  • savn _____kult og mer enn det

  • We listened to Boine's song in my University's library for a whole week. Btw, I study scandinavian languages in Belgrade.

  • Hi there! Im swedish and i love languages, do you know sami? i speak a bit sami, but i want to learn more, it's a shame i cant speak it, because i have sami blood in me=)

  • No, sorry to disappoint you. We only study norwegian, danish and swedish language, and since sami isn't really scandinavian branch of languages - we don't study it - but what we do study is Northern culture - and that means sami too. Funny, now I come to think of it, I could have written all of this in Norwegian (my main language) and not in English - so globalist of me :)

  • @Ainhoa1666 im norwegian, we have the largest population of sami, and i find it shameful that we learn NOTHING of it in school... theyre norwegians just like us, we should at least be tought some basics, but no.

the only sami word i know is "norga"...

  • zegh8578, I guess norga means Norge^^

i know maybe like 40 words in northern saami, but i see that as very little. and yes, it's really a shame, because they are our people to, and if my grandfather wouldn't have been made to stop speaking the old languages, i would have spoken saami, finnish and swedish fluid =/ and ofcourse i understand much Norweigan=P

  • @starcraft90 ah nothing like a little bigotry to kick the day off.

    Yes, technically they are norwegians:

    saami, finnic NORWEGIANS.

    norwegisn, germanic NORWEGIANS.

dont be a racist, its distasteful :]

  • NORGA!

    *ROAR!*

  • I often use this music/ chanting for meditation, it's really beautiful!
